~ My Very First BJD Is Home: A Fairyland Tan Minifee Mirwen ~

Hi everyone!

I'd like to start off by thanking all of you kind and generous people for guiding newbies like me to all of the right places. Coming into a hobby like this is very exciting, but you can definitely get overwhelmed and lost. By having wonderful resources like DofA and various other groups we can all learn from one another's experiences and make more sound decisions when it comes to buying BJDs, wigs, eyes, etc.

So how did I find out about BJDs? Well - I was browsing on Instagram one day back in October last year, and saw a Minifee. I was just completely awed by their beauty and wanted to learn more. It took a while to figure things out, but eventually I was accepted into a few Facebook groups and then gained access to DofA. It's been an awesome journey since then! I have met so many great, kind and beautiful people. I cannot believe how welcoming the BJD community is. I belong to several communities and let me be the first to tell you, the BJD community has the nicest and most supportive people! YAY!!!

So fast forward to December. I ordered a Tan Minifee Rheia from DDE. Since December I started buying clothes, wigs and eyes in preparation for Rheia. However, one day last month I was on DDE and noticed that they had a Tan Minifee Mirwen in stock. I called to verify that she was in stock, and then a few hours later I had her ordered!

And here she is... presenting my Minifee Mirwen Box Opening!









Now my pictures - the iPhone 5 doesn't take the world's best photos. I need to get a nice digital camera to capture the beauty of my babies! Anyways *laughs*

I am very very happy with Mirwen! When I first saw her I was like OMG she's HUGE! Photos and videos make Minifees look kind of small, but they are NOT! And the tan color... OMG it's gorgeous! It's more of a reddish brown, than a yellowish brown. I love it! It's so smooth and fabulous! And um... the resin? It smells a bit like spray paint! Kind of strong ... but yeah. I hope that the smell will fade away soon. Overall I am very happy with her. She has a few seamlines, and a few discoloration marks - which is typical for Fairyland's tan resin, but I love her. Her legs are a bit loose - so I am probably going to have to restring her. *sighs - Oh boy!* It took me a good 5 minutes to get her to stand. Gosh, I am so bad at this... but hopefully I will get better!

Anyways... I will shut up now, but I am SO happy with her! Mirwen is an absolute gorgeous sculpt! I cannot wait to get her faceup and lots more clothes. Hopefully Rheia will be home soon!

Thank you so much Lysandra! I won't lie I was a bit intimidated by her at first, but I just shifted her wig a little bit and now she looks a TON better! LOL

 

@kayteelizz - Wow, she was? That's so awesome! I am sitting here staring at her now. She's probably like "get out of my face you creep!" HAHAHA. These dolls are amazingly detailed. I can't get over it. I can't wait to get her a faceup. Hopefully soon!

@Winterglow - Oh you should TOTALLY get one! I haven't even had her for 12 hours yet, but I definitely think you should. I can't stop staring at her! These dolls are freaking huge! I don't think I could handle an SD size. LOL

@vermont chick - Thank you so much sweetie! I think Mirwen is so pretty. I will definitely ask the faceup artist (whichever one that may be) to bring out the softer side of her. I think I want Rheia to be bad and bold, and Mirwen to be soft and laid back. We will see what happens! haha. I don't have a name for her, yet... but I will definitely be dreaming up one tonight! I probably won't name her until she has her faceup.

@Yuns - I can't even imagine how huge SDs must be! I will stick to Minifee and smaller for the time being! LOL. I am so nervous that I am going to break her... *sighs* I think she does need a restringing though. Her legs are a tad bit on the looser side, but maybe I am just not used to BJDs and how they work yet? I can't wait to see Rheia either... hope she comes home sooner than later!

@VampireAngel13 - Thank you so much! As soon as I saw the wig, I had to have it. I want Mirwen to have a softer face. I see her looking 'pissed off' a lot, so I want mine to be a bit on the softer side. I think the lighter color hair and a soft faceup will do it. I am SO glad to hear that the smell will fade. I was taken a back a bit, because it is a strong spray paint type of smell lol. I followed your advice, and it seems like she's not loose much at all. I think it was just me not knowing how to handle her. I've gotten her to stand and stuff with much less effort since I took her out of the box. One thing I did notice though was that her right hand comes off easily. *sad face* - Is there a fix for that, or do I have to buy another set of hands? Thank you so much for all of the advice and kind words - I greatly appreciate it!

@VampireAngel13 - OMG you should totally get a Mirwen, because I'd love to see your vision for her! Haha - I am sure it will take me much longer to figure out how to make her do more things besides sitting and standing straight up. *cracks up*

The hand with the issue isn't really loose, but it comes off a lot easier than the left hand. Like the left hand kind of clicks into position and then magnetizes to the wrist. A lot more secure, so I definitely have to be careful not to lose the other hand. I'd be sad if I lost it, because chances are very high that my dog would find it and try chewing on it! LMAO. I noticed that DDE has some hands in stock, so I might buy an additional set or two.

@Indeh - Aww you're so sweet, thank you so much! I was SO freaking happy to get her. I thought I would have to wait a few more weeks, but we were able to pay her off earlier. So so happy with her! Can't wait to get her all made up.

@Dustbunnie - LOL wow, so you had 4 pretty much right at the start huh? That's so awesome! I will probably order Celine & Chloe later this year for sure (once we get another Tan Event). I think I will order them on the M-Line, since I really like the full bust haha.

@nakitaninja - Thank you so much! I can say that after owning her for almost a week that I am just absolutely smitten with her. I just keep staring at her... I love her so so much! Even though she's my first and only BJD at the moment, I would highly recommend Fairyland for one of your future dolls. The tan skin is just OH MY .. I just love it! Can't wait to get her a faceup and more of a unique style.

@Nikki'sNewObsession - Oh my goodness, you are just the sweetest! I'm sure you know by now, but I absolutely LOVE all of your dolls. I love their styles, everything. Just fabulous! I hope to get the hang of posing soon. I just have to snap out of my fear of breaking her. I can't wait to get her a faceup and stuff. The next month is going to be very exciting! *big hugs*
