First off, I don't have my doll yet. But I've been sewing little things for my Shoko ((DZ Shoyo)) and my imouto-chan's Aya ((DZ TinTan)) that'll be coming. When she comes she'll actually try on clothes and use stuff. Until then, I really hope it all fits and is sized correctly! XD; Bedding -- Pillows and blankes should be MSD sized, so they should fit our dolls. My bedspread ((the blue and pink one)) turned out craptastic. By the time I did my imouto-chan's ((green and red)) I had figured out what to do! Pink fabric is the sheets :3 bracelet-y stuff is, you guessed it, bracelets XD Sailor Fuku and Kimono and Tank Tops and Brocade Pillow :3 -- 2 skirts and a sailor top that matches the fabric for one. The shirt might be a bit big ^^; The kimono is definately too long, but with a tuck at the waist as per normal kimono wearing will *probably really hopefully* fit right. The kimono is sleeveless due to an accident in cutting material and not enough after said accident to make sleeves. A friend of mine suggested I add sleeves of a different color... thoughts on it? Still needs an obi. And then there's the brocade and silk. Those will both be tank tops when the dolls come. I'll add snaps so that they'll fit approiately and add straps that are the right length then ^^ All 3 skirts I sew ((2 pictured above plus one I think is too small)), the tank tops, and a better pic of the brocade pillow Stalkings and knee-high stalkings plus frog ((made for a chinese styled outfit I'll later be making)) I can't wait to get my doll and try everything on her ((and make clothes that I need more measurements for!)) Coming up once I get the doll: Bleach t-shirts, Chinese outfit, another kimono, hats, maybe something lolita, and more ^^ Thanks for looking at my work :3
wow... you seem to be really prepared for their arrival... ... im not really sure how big or tall your little ones will be so i cant really tell if they might fit but i really hope they do ... well when your little ones arrive i think its so much more fun sewing since you can see em wear it after ... well i hope everything works out fine and theyd arrive safely...
I am XD I've even now got a chair that I crafted for her ^^; I'll like die if they don't fit! I slaved away over the sailor shirt! And the skirts took forever! And the kimono collar *glares evilly at it* was hell. Well, technically only one of the dolls is mine, other is little sister's. But when they arrive I'll defintely love sewing for them much more! :3 They should be arriving sometime this week! *squee* My mom thinks maybe Wedensday or Thrusday ((which are the days I have off work too! Nyaaaaa!))
Ooh, congrats! I can't say much without seeing stuff on the dolls, but it all looks very cute, especially that sailor top. You did a nice job with the collar. (I hate collars ) Maybe for the kimono, you could have the sleeves match the obi?
Sort of connected to the last comment - you could also make the sleeves the same color as your kimono lining. Either way, it'll just look like your girl is wearing two layers, which is a style I've always liked when I've seen it in kimono. I hope everything fits! You're correct about pulling up the extra length under the obi, so don't worry if it's too long.
@The94Clouds: I had to actually sew part of the collar under itself because origionally it was too long ^^; They are really hard to sew! @Adriel: That's a good idea! I definately like the two layers look in kimono too. I have a kimono ((for me)) but not a juban (the under kimono) yet and am constantly subistuting with homemade kimono for juban because I hate the way it looks without them. I think I'm gonna have to measure my obi as compaired to me and in the end make my doll's obi that long. That ways I'll be able to tie it like I tie mine.
well nana... i really hope they do fit... if they dont then.. you can maybe just adjust em somehow... or if youll have to completely redo them then atleast you already have a very good idea on how it goes and the next will be easier, faster and better too... uhuhuhmmm i really dont know anything about kimono's so i really cant help ... but its nice that there are others here who knows their stuff well i hope theyd arrive safely
It depends on how you want to tie the obi. You could probably also search around a little and find out how long a traditional obi is - if it appears to be, say, twice the length of the kimono, then that'll tell you how to measure for the doll-sized one. I avoid measuring myself as much as I possibly can, so. :P But anyway, the pattern I'm using for a kimono gives me a 12in. obi that is secured with a ribbon, so it's not very traditional. I'm going to try doubling it, but if you don't mind it being untraditional, maybe you can try that length. It would be easy enough to make a button-on addition if you want a bow in the back. That's quite common in modern kimono, from what I'm told. Nobody wants to spend an hour tying their obi.
@Adriel: Mine usually only takes me fifteen minutes to a 1/2 hour tops to tie and it's traditional. After you get the hang of it it's not too hard :3 ...and I'm no good with buttons either XD; @kscness: Thanks! I hope to see it on her soon too! XD
