    1. Pics of Matilda completed.

PICS OF RESIN AND COLOUR CHOICES ON PAGE 14.

The above Matilda is cast in translucent flesh and has human ears.
Elf head cast in white flesh, I have added a little too much blush to her face!!
She can put her hands on her hips and on her head.
Her hands, they are cast in the white flesh .. as you can see if has a hint of flesh so isn't exactly white.
She can sit like this but I think it makes the knees look awful!! This one is cast in the darker of the three flesh colours, sorry the pic came out dark.
      :)

EDIT: pics of unpainted heads on 3rd page. :)
Progress pics added on page 7.
      Resin choices page 14.
Nude body pics on page 15.

    2. Oh my God, she is too cute for words!

    3. She is a gorgeous little thing!!!! Any chance she will be for sale???

Perhaps you could sculpt a few different sets of ears and have them be removeable so you can choose which type you want her to have? Then you only need to make moulds for the ears, and not for a whole new head.

    4. Thanks :)
Yes, I plan to sell a limited number of her when I get her body made.
Good idea about the ears .. I will have to do some experimenting with that!! Thanks.
      :)
      Kaye

    12. Awww! :D *meltymelt* She is soooo cute!

How are you going to cast her body?

    13. I loved the first sculpt and the second one is even cuter! She seems like such a little mischief maker! :)

    14. OMG!!!wanna see your first one too~let me find it...

    15. WOw she is really cute!! love the freckles!!

    16. this is really great work =) awesome!

    17. Thanks all :)
I have finished sculpting her body now .. just have to make the molds and she will be a "done doll" LOL
I've sculpted her head with elf ears so she will come in 2 variations .. human or elf.
      Soooo exciting playing dolls.
      :)
      Kaye

    18. Oh, heavens, she's gorgeous...

    19. She truly is the sweetest thing ever :love
I'd love to have a doll like that!

    20. I saw that gorgeous face and was INSTANTLY put in mind of a dear friend of mine from elementary school named Rebecca. Put red, short curly hair on her, and that would, indeed, be my friend. Beautifully done. :)

    21. WOW!! I bow down in amazement at your fabulous sculpting and face-up skills :D

She's fabulous!! Have you named her yet?

      -- Andi <3

    22. she's so cute! you do amazing work. she looks like my sister.

    23. Awww, thanks .. you are all so great :)
Her name is Matilda, thanks to the lovely Twigling who suggested that name. As far as I know she will be the first Aussie BJD of her type so thought an Aussie name would be very appropriate.
      :)
      Kaye

    24. I'm impressed... she looks so... alive @_@

When using resin, does it have to be the industrial stuff, or is it acceptable to use the clear resin that jewellers and modelmakers use? Its the only stuff I can get in my area. I think its polyester resin.

    25. She's sooooo cute! If you put her up for sale, I definitely want one...

    26. And about moulding from a casting... I read Donn's tutorial and he said he makes his master from his resin cast. ^_^; I hope I remembered that right...

    27. Hi Verbana,
I use the clear resin and tint it and use a filler to make it more opaque. The stuff I use is a polyurethane I think!! I choose ot use it because it is UV stable and I don't want my dolls to go yellow!!
Not sure about your molding from a casting .. you have to have a mold before you can make a casting so not sure what you mean??
      :)
      Kaye

    28. Caitlin and I made the master mold for our Mau head off the first resin casting . . . the clay version still had imperfections in it, but the resin version could be sanded smoother and cleaned up, and we could drill holes for the ear posts. When we were happy with it, Caitlin made a new master mold from the original resin cast :)

      I think that's what she's talking about . . . ?

      -- Andi <3

    29. her torso is a foot long!? :o

    30. No, I'm sure it's she's made the torso, and one of the feet. Not a foot long torso. :)

She is just adorable! I love her button nose.

    31. Hehehe .. her torso isn't a foot long .. I meant I have sculpted one of her feet.
I've almost finished sculpting her body now (just finishing the lower legs) and I've started molding the parts ... yikes .. not finding the molding bit easy!!
      :)
      Kaye

    32. She's beautiful!!

    33. She is very unique! So cute!

    34. She's adorable. Are there any pics of her before her face-up?

    35. Man... I am totally saving up for her. o_o Starting now...

    36. Wow. She's so cute! *impressed*

I can't wait to see how she looks when she's finished. :)

    37. She is adorable, your sculpts are truely beautiful! and the technique you use to get a translucent skin-like resin is brilliant! :)

    38. those freckles are adorable!

    39. she is gorgous! so lovely, i cant believe this is only your second head! amazing.

    40. I've said it once and I'll say it again...I LOVE your headmold. With her dark hair, she reminds me of Punky Brewster.

When you decide to sell, you've got a customer waiting right here!

    41. Ooo. You're going to sell her... *rolls around* XD So much temptation...

    42. Here is pics of the unpainted heads.

This is the human ears head

and this one I have sculpted elf ears onto the casting using sculpy so will be making her as a human and as an elf.
Sorry the pics aren't very sharp .. I'm trying to get used to a new camera :(

      Cheers,
      Kaye

    43. Yes, I'll be selling her if I can ever get the molds finished. I'm doing this by trial and error .. and lot's of errors happening!! :(

    44. whoa, I´m in love, she is such a cutie! Looks very professional! Have you made a body for her too?

    45. Must be getting expensive!

Let me know when you get them out, I'm particularly interested in the elfy sort.

    46. Aww thanks :)

Yes, I have made a body for her and I've molded and resin cast most of the pieces but I've discovered a few imperfections so I am going to redo them from the resin castings so that I can get them smoother. It's easier to see the flaws in the resin than it is in the sculpy. I guess it will be a couple of weeks yet until I have her boy ready.

      :)
      Kaye

    47. Mmmmm yes -_- It's costing me a small fortune to get her just as I want her but I'm enjoying it very much and learning so much as I go.
      :)
      Kaye

    48. I've left my window open, Matilda can crawl in (or atleast scratch on the flyscreen) whenever she is ready to move in here. Seeing the unpainted heads have only strengthened my resolve. Your work is lovely, Kaye. But then you hardly came down in the last shower either, when it comes to doll-making.

    49. Hahaha .. I'll send her off to scratch on your flyscreen when she is finished ;)
Yep, I'm used to making dolls after years of making porcelain dolls but I'm new to resin dolls and ball jointed dolls and I'm almost tearing my hair out trying to get her right!! LOL.
I'm not one to give up so I'll get her right before too long.
      :)
      Kaye

    50. She's so adorable... I love her perky nose and full lips. She's lovely! I can't wait to see her with a body, too!

    51. She has such a cute little nose! I love her!

    52. She has the CUTEST little nose and face, I love her! I wish you sucess with her... ^.^ She's looking gorgeous so far! I can't wait to see her body and all!

    53. Thought you might like to see pics of the "prototype" head and torso.
Please forgive the brushes holding her elastic :)
These pieces are being modified and any flaws fixed before I make the final molds. The pink bits are where I have done a little modification!!
I want to modify her rib cage to fit snugly around her lower body .. I initially sculpted it a bit loose to allow for plenty of movement for poseability but have decided I would like a more snug fit so may have to forfeit some of the poseability for a better look.
      Hope you like her.
      :)
      Kaye

    54. did you have any errored dolls that i could buy off you?

    55. She's SO AWESOME . . . *happy sigh* I can't decide whether I like the impish-human or the impish-elven version better!!

The torso's looking very, very nice, too . . . I can't wait to see her all put together :>

      -- Andi <3

    56. I'm sold!! Andi, I can't decide between the two heads either, might have to get one of each... then again, she is going to be a limited edition, so I don't want to deprive anyone else of the opportunity to adopt one. I will stick with what I decided before I even saw then different ears: the pointy ones!!

    57. yay she is looking so cute, I´m so impressed.
I really love her elf ears, but also her human ears. I have also been thinking to do that with my bjd when I started to make her! One with human and one with elf ears because it is so much fun that you can choose.
I´m really looking forward to seeing her finshed, she is going to be so lovely. :)

    58. Does that mean the nipples are a later addition? I was thinking it was odd that you had painted them but nothing else. The hip section also looks very smooth and interesting.

I don't think you are necessarily sacrificing poseability by making the ribcage more snug. By allowing the elastic more room to move (ie. having the hole on the top of the lower torso be larger) there should still be a lot of room for movement. Some (a lot) of companies have a part sticking out from the lower into the upper which seems to help the doll from keeling too far back or forwards, but this also seems to hamper movement so much I sometimes wonder why they bother to put the joint there at all.

    59.
    60. Hi LoliChase,
Sorry, I don't have any errored dolls .. I am using them as a prototype to make better molds.
      :)
