    2. lawl so it has taken me three months to get this far... mostly because i just mixed up the colours of clay and left it to sit in a lump in the corner for a long while. u_u **lazy**
ANYWAY i made this head. and he is covered in fingerprints and his nose is messed up and his eyes need looooads of work before they look like anything BUT UH i had lots of fun making this so...

    3. Are you working in polymer clay? I mean, it's a fair amount of progress (mine have taken forever) and he's a great design, very unusual. Are you going to go for full realism or stylised? As for the finger prints: sanding will deal with those no problem!

As for skin tone, I'd say that olive would be lighter. It's generally the sort of colour Mediterranean people are described as.

    4. ah, i know .. lots of sanding will be had!
he will be a bit stylized, as far as the face and neck go.. but realistic-er for the body.
i keep staring at the colour and thinking "this is wrong!" XD needs more white in, yusss.
and thanks for commenting on the design! haha.. he's an old character of mine, that i love very much. :O

oh! and yes, i am working with polymer. it's sculpey III... which i do not recommend, as it is so soft and sticky!

    5. Would it work to mix up some white clay with some liquid clay and sponge it on, once you have fininshed the doll to give a sort of ghosting effect? I sometimes use liquid clay in the process of smoothing out parts and I usually mix it with the regular clay to make the difference between the layers smaller. I have used contrasting colors when making miniatures, sometimes and if the layer is thin enough it just creates a translucent overlay.

    6. that is an interesting idea!
i, too, have thought of using some liquid to smooth him out... and that might make a neat skin effect. hmm. i will give this some thought!

    7. Are you going to keep the sculpey doll as the final one or get some casts made? Interested to see the finish you go for if staying with the sculpey.

    8. aaa, if only i had money for the materials to cast him, or to have him cast...
i will probably ultimately just keep him as is. :P however, if he turns out really well, i may try to save up some dollars to buy what i would need to cast him. :O

aaaaa and i haven't done any work on him barring tonight. i am working on his body tonight... and i have obtained the dremel bits and bobs to work on his head this week. yay!
(and so, have a picture of my working area.)
