My SD16 Yukinojo was stolen through eBay fraud, do not trust 1hotsteelersfan

Feb 10, 2006

    1. I was auctioning an SD16 limited Yukinojo doll on eBay.
      http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5661319281

In the auction I said that the only thing I would accept in trade is an Ainomori Tan Jun Custom House doll. Ebay user 1hotsteelersfan said her friend had one that she would like to trade. I revised my auction and added a line at the top saying she could use her doll as payment. So I agreed to the trade and we agreed to mail our dolls to each other at the same time. I was very nervous about it and she said I could mail my doll without his clothes and other items, including the replacement hand Volks sent me for his broken one.

Unfortunately, the doll I recieved is NOT the doll she said she was sending. It is a much cheaper Souldoll, I think it might be a Paris that certainly isn't limited. She also didn't send her doll at the same time that I sent mine like she said she would. Instead, she waited until mine arrived before she sent her doll. Neither she nor her friend are currently responding to my emails. But in her last email she actually claimed that she is moving to Thailand. (WTF? Like I belive that!) I have contacted the police and I have an appointment to file a police report against them Monday, February 13th, 2006. I have not yet left bad feedback.

I have emailed her and her friend warning them about the police report. I said they either need to pay me the full amount for my doll or return him and that I would return her Souldoll. I have also sent them a Paypal money request for the auction's payment. I have also filed a complaint with eBay Square Trade and paid the $30 for a mediator.

Never ever trade with 1hotsteelersfan on eBay. Add her to your blocked bidders list like I have. Stay away from anyone using these address, names, or emails:

***UPDATE***The mods removed the mailing addresses. They are all in Erie, Pa. PM me if you want them. ***

The serial number inside his head is 42.
***Update*** I have since learned that the "42" is actually a head mold number, and not a serial at all. ****

If you ever see an SD16 Yukinojo on eBay or anywhere else that has is missing a right hand, his soul patch and all of his default clothing and wig, please PM me immediately. Especially if you live in Pennsylvannia...or Thailand...

If you happen to buy him from someone someday, I'm not going to make you give him up, but I still want you to email me so I can know what these thieves did with him.

    2. Why on earth haven't you left bad feedback? ^^;; That really sucks, I'm sorry it turned out that way.

    3. OMG you poor thing!

Unfortunately, eBay might not cover exchanges....thats why I now only accept paypal.
Im afraid this buyer spotted an oppurtunity to get herself an expensive doll for free and took it. You should have arranged to either meet and exchange the dolls, or acted through a member of DOA you both know and trust. Trades with strangers just DON'T work, as there has to be a large degree of trust, more so than when selling on eBay.
You have no idea where this girl lives, or even if she gave you her real adress.
Good on you for contacting the police-this is straight theft and should be treated as such. It would be great if eBay and Paypal released ALL details to the police, as I worry about the anonymity rules a bit...

Im sure this experience has left you wary of such fraud, and Im so sorry for the loss of your doll. This girl played a dirty, underhand trick on you and think's she can get away with it.
I hope you get your doll back, or the police at least bang her head on the door while flinging her into the back of their patrol car.

      *edited for dyslexic keyboard typo's*

    4. When I did the eBay Square Trade thing, there was lots of stuff about its the only way to do negative feedback withdrawal. So I wonder if I should leave feedback after the case is closed. I guess I'll see if I can ask the mediator.

I tried to get this girl to use an eBay consignment store as our 3rd party for the trade, but of course she wouldn't do it.

I wonder if I can take her to small claims court.

    5. Could you post pictures of the doll she sent you? I'm curious to see if I can identify him - several of the SoulDoll limited tan dolls are actually worth considerably MORE than Yukinojo is.

I'm not saying what she did is right, at all. But there is the possibility that, if you end up not being able to recover your Yukinojo, this will at least not be such a total loss for you.

    6. Weird... I've dealed with nicole before, and the ebay id I know is queenjuda.
      well, it's unregistered now...
She sold me a sd13 heath, but that auction went well for me.
I'm really sorry that this happened to you.
I hope she contacts you promptly.
I had troubles contacting her also, and she said she had problems with her
      computer.

      Best of luck to you..!

    7. Wow. I'm so sorry!

    8. I'm sorry this happened to you, I hope you get a satisfactory resolution.

      Liz

    9. Oh, I didn't make that clear. The SoulDoll she sent me is NOT tan, it's just a normal skin regular doll. He'd only be worth 500 or so if he were new.

    10. Hisuida: Thank you for that information. Ah hah, so she's an even bigger liar than I thought, saying she'd never used eBay before.

    11. thats terrible, i hope the police/ebay/paypal can do something about this.. =/

    12. Did you ask for pictures to see her doll (to see if she even had it, condition it was in, etc.)?

I know it's hard to take such a loss. (I would be devistated!) I hope everything works out for you.

    13. Wonder if this is the same person as the "eBay seller ttan12 / Kenishi / Kenneth Snyder" that we have a bad trader notice about. They both live in Erie PA and have a long history of switching dolls/bait tactics.

    14. Oh Riversoblodd, this kinda makes me feel sick!
To know someone woudl take advantage of you like that!
It scares me and makes me want to trust no one!
I will keep an eye out for your dollie and this person.
I hope that the police can catch them!!!

    15. Oh? I'm still interested in pictures, so see if we can tell is he's been altered in any way, or anything like that.

    16. Omg, Erie, PA, eh? *dies*

NabeeRain: It makes me feel sick too. I get all nauseated and horribly stressed whenever I think about it.

1hotsteelersfan actually emailed me just now and said if I left bad feedback she would do the same thing to me. That horrid bi-atch!

Leadora and Kiyakotari: It's just a regular Souldoll, not modifed, not tanned. When I got it I opened it, saw what it was and slammed the lid back down on it. I haven't opened it since because I intend to surrender it to the police on Monday. I doubt they'll dust it for fingerprints or anything, but I don't want to tamper with it. I can take pictures tomorrow, but I'm not sure I should mess with the darn thing.

    17. I bet she sent the paris she bought on ebay with her other id, queenjuda.
      This is just horrible..

    18. No one wants negative feedback, but I'd take it on the chin with this one if I were you. It'll stop her from at least using the 1hotsteelersfan ID to cheat someone else. And I'd wager that after some more investigating, ebay will remove any negative she might make in retaliation.

FWIW, even if the negative is left in your feedback, most doll people eventually make their way to this forum, where they'll be able to read all about this transaction. I don't think one negative will destoy your rep.

I'm not sure where you're from, but in addition to calling your local police, you should also contact law enforcement in her area. Best of luck getting this resolved.

    19. Actually, you should forward that email to your mediator because that will be another strike against her as far as trying to "manipulate" the situation. If she leaves you negative feedback you can respond & it shows up right under what she wrote. Good luck, I'm sorry for your misfortune. It makes me sad, dolls should always make us happy.:(

    20. The only feedback this user has is 3 pos. for buying used pants.
I am really sorry this happened to you sweetie.
I swear, these people have to be stopped.

    21. Yeah! I don't understand why eBay does nothing all the time when all this fraud goes on right under their nose.

Omg, I think you are right. Too bad the pictures aren't viewable on that closed auction of hers. This doll she sent could be a Lune.
      http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=84635&item=5630998794

Yeah, the first thing I did was to call the Erie, PA police. They weren't very nice and told me to call my local police. I live in Indiana.

I just talked to eBay Live Help and they said I should wait with the feedback until everything is over or unless she leaves it for me during our unpaid item dispute.

    22. Please let us know how this turns out. I'm so sorry they did this to you. @_@; -patpat-

    23. Thank you *cries*

    24. Holy shit.

I think, and I'll be honest, your biggest mistake was doing a trade and not doing the 3rd party with ebay, and sending her your doll first.

WHY should you have to send your doll first when SHE is your "buyer"? That doll she sent you was your payment, and you should NOT have sent the doll until that doll arrived to you first. I had another girl I traded a Juri head with and asked her in the long run to send hers to me first - It was suggested to do at the same time, but not because I didn't trust her, that I was scared in general, I asked her to send it first. I had no problems, but in the long run, not all people are good like my buyer.

I'm sure it didn't even occur to you, and it really could have happened to the best of us. There's always warning signs there and flags that something's wrong (like her refusing the 3rd party) but you never really pick up on it until it's too late, and that's true in so many situations unfortunately.

This entire situation REALLY sucks. I'm really sorry about it.

    25. I just wanted to note that I had done dealings with the scammer 'Kenishi / Kenneth Snyder' in the past (one was a trade and I was very, very lucky that I got my item, though I received a lengthy delay and a lot of lies in the process of getting it) and I have his address still on file.
He lives on the same street as your scammer, only a couple of doors down. The coincidence is just too much and I would hazard a guess that at the very least they are friends; there is also the possibility of more than that going on.
I'm not sure if this information is of any help to you, but I can PM you his exact address if you would like it.

    26. Oh my..I'm sorry to hear this..~_~ I hope everything turns out just fine..

But hey, thanks for sharing your experience. This could help all of us be careful in these kinds of situations..~_~

    27. OMG >.< I hope everything works out well *hugs*

    28. :barf Man hearing things like this just makes me sick to my stomach, I hope you get your doll back. You know the ole saying what comes around goes around, and they will get burned in the end, it's only a matter of time.

    29. This is really bad... I wonder what she plans to do with Yukinojo. >< Anyway, I would like to see photos of the dolls she sent you?

    30. omg... I wouldn't of cared how much it cost but I would of gone up there knocked on the door and the first person who answered (unless it was an old person or little kid) I would punched their face in! That is is just...gah! ><

Though I kinda agree with aie... The warnings where there but who listens to those when a new baby is being talked about! Lol I wouldn't of! >< But still...gr! Now I'm mad for you too!

(I say we all do the harry potter thing and send them letters!!!11one and flood out their mail box and annoy the piss outta 'em with it!)

      ~suppi

    31. I don't understand how people can do things like that and still feel ok with themselves. It's disgusting. How can someone even LOOK at a doll if they get it like that and not just feel absolutely sick to their stomach.

I really, really hope this works out for you and the police can do something.

I try so hard to see the good in people and believe that deep down everyone is decent. Things like that make it very hard to keep up that idea though...

    32. I'm sorry this happened to you, but people commit fraud everday and you can't be too trusting of people. If you decide to trade in the future, you really need to ask for detailed information and pictures up front and NEVER send your items out first! It would be much better to pay an escrow service for something like that, to act as an intermediary for both of you.

You should definitely leave negative feedback immediately, but eBay doesn't cover item trades and I doubt they will provide you with a mediator, in this case. Even if eBay does provide you with one and decides in your favor, they have no power to make her give the doll back or pay you anything.

Police reports also won't do you any good in your own city. You'd have to file one in her county/city for it to be investigated; interstate fraud happens so easily because it almost always goes unpunished; cops and lawyers don't like to work outside of their districts. *_*

Also...do you realize that it's highly illegal to give out someone else's personal information on the internet? You could be prosecuted, and fined and/or jailed. *_* The most that's allowed to be posted is her eBay ID and I strongly suggest you remove her information before you get in trouble. :sweat

    33. If the both of you contact the police in the scammers area, they might not be nice, but they will be forced to investigate. In fact, everyone who was ripped off by this individual/duo should contact the police. Combined it's probably a couple of thousand dollars worth of goods.

What this person has done is a crime, literally.

Ditto on the local cops *needing* to become involved (IL cops are not going to use their time/resources to go to PA to investigate). As for her information being posted, how else can people know not to deal with her/them? Especially if she's using different names?

    34. I apologize, but I'm fairly certain that publishing addresses online is not illegal. While I admit I have not researched this in detail, nor am I lawyer, I would be very surprised, considering how many web sites there are supported by governments and "white pages" type companies that allow others to look up phone nubmers and addresses online.

    35. It is actually, NOT illegal to post personal information of others on the internet...it's just bad news if it ends up to be your info. LOL
But in this case it is up to Aimee to decide if she does or doesn't want the info listed on her site.
Though I mayself, have done so in the past as well as many others.
Not to mention that the rights of the "scammers" are hardly any concern of the person they stole from.

    36. Poor Darling! That poor baby too....I hope he's okay and she isn't doing anything horrid to him!

Best of luck in getting this solved!

    37. WOW, i'm so sorry to hear this happend to you. Please keep us posted as to the outcome. I hope you get him back.

      Christal

    38. If she called the police in the scammer's area and they won't do anything, then what can she do?

    39. ^Nothing really. Just the ebay stuff, and if she can get her for the fraud thingie. Its a shame, but she has alot against herself. Although, myself as a person really appreciates a person so lovely, and trustworthy as herself, what she did, in any judges or investagaters mind will be silly and naive. I feel really bad when anyone get cheated, but alot on the sellers part could have been done to prevent this. Nevertheless, that person is scum, and they took advantage of a kind person.

The police will not be understanding, I am sure the mention of dolls and they'll think its a fued between gradeschool girls. I really hope ebay and the complaint thing help you get Yuki back. Who knows, maybe this will make you bond with him! I am really about to head up to erie, knock on that skanks door(s) and go get Yuki for you! Keep us updated, and if there is anything I can do, please PM me!! *jen

    40. This so sucks!

    41. I am so afraid to talk to the criminal investigations officer on Monday. I'm afraid I'll get laughed at and not taken seriously. It's very easy to make me cry and I don't want to get hysterical in front of them because I need their help so badly. I feel so physically ill about this I just want to die.

I wish this were like the movies, and I wish the police cared enough to like, get a warrant or something and burst into her house and seize my doll back for me. *sobs*

    42. You know, if all else fails, you could sell the doll she sent you, buy a plane ticket, rent a car, bring along a big scary friend, and go to her house and demand your doll or payment!
At the very least, if you happen to get to where she lives, you couold go to the local police department and have them ascort you to her house.

    43. You know...you might be able to hire a PI in her area over the phone or net and have them contact her.......

    44. I dunno, that would be scary and illegal. I don't want to go to jail. A PI or something would probably cost more than my doll, and I doubt they'd steal it back for me. Though I would love that. She deserves to have it stolen.

    45. Well...I was only serious about having the police escort you or the PI.
I just thought the PI might mediate or something, I don't know. Maybe convince her to give it back or work this the local authorities on getting your doll back.
I know it is a lot of money, but so was your doll.
I know it is not probable, Just thought it might make you feel better. ^_^

    46. "I am so afraid to talk to the criminal investigations officer on Monday. I'm afraid I'll get laughed at and not taken seriously"

I hope they wont think its funny bec. its alot of money that is involve, I do get embarressed about my hobby sometimes bec. pple dont understand why we spend that much on a bjd but I would file a report. I remember long time ago when I was watching Oprah and some girl was talking about bidding on a ty for over 1000 and receiving a fake one. She was brave in my point of view :)

    47. personally i think flying there shouldn't be too expensive not as much as the doll cost...round trips are only costing about $200 within the US unless it's a popular place like florida or california or new york or something... I would definitely invest in a plane ticket and hunt her down :shakes fist at the jerk: I still can't believe somebody would do such a cruel thing to other people who share in their interests >.< I know how you feel though since I'm horrible when it comes to confrontations as well... I'm an all around sweet and spirited person and for anybody to question me over something that's gone wrong totally depresses me and makes me cry >.< *hugs X5 billion to you*

    48. Thanks chinadoll, the women who picked up the phone at both police stations were very rude and didn't take me seriously. But the criminal investigations guy was polite for the minute or so that I talked to him, so I really hope he is a nice person who won't make me feel even worse than I already do. I'm still mega nervous and scared, though.

belladurmiente87: Yeah, there's no way I could be brave enough to fly there. I'm small and definitely not intimidating. I couldn't bully my way into her house and take him back. I wish I could hire a repo man (legally) or something to break in there and take him. I'll see what the police have to say, but they'll probably not say anything like that.
Thanks for the hugs, I really need them. :(

    49. Just curious, is there any shows in US you can file in your complain and they investigate for you and do everything in live?

I am in China right now and there is one show which is very interesting. Its about pple who are suspicious of their partner and hired these pple who will follow the partner 24 hrs a day and find out whats going on, everything is live though and the partner dont know anything. They video tape conversation and stuff and show it to the pple suspicious of their partner. I am really sure there is something like that in US. just wonder if they will take up your story though.

    50. I am sorry to hear that you lost your doll, and I really hope the police will do something about this thief

but DON'T go to her house, she could contact the police for harassment and tresspassing and then you have a problem

    51. Ick, this is terrible! When you go on monday I recommend taking as much evidance about his price tag as you possibly can. Show them the soul doll website to prove how much the doll they sent you is worth too. Force them to understand! >:[

    52. It might be helpful to speak about it not as "dolls" but as a "collectible item" at first when you explain the situation to the police.

I´m sure most people have heard somewhere, at some point, that there are collectible dolls worth hundreds, even thousands of $$ (such as really early vintage Barbie dolls, antique dolls (which were actually one of the inspirations for our modern BJDs) or modern artist dolls.
They may not see how someone would be prepared to spend so much money on one of these dolls, but the fact that there are people who do just that might not have escaped them.

If you start out by explaining that it´s about one of these dolls, they might understand the situation better and not laugh at you or dismiss it as a "schoolgirl feud".

The more proof you can bring about of the value of all three dolls involved (Yukinojo, the one you were promised and the one you got), the better - for example, print-outs of completed internet auctions/sales that show their secondary market value.

If you can try to get the focus of your explanation away from the term "dolls" which most people unfortunately tend to immediately associate with cheapo children´s toys, and shift it towards the fact that you were cheated out of a collectible item of several hundred $$ value, you might be able to make them understand your situation a lot better.

    53. I agree with Saiko...the way you present the situation to them will help a great deal. And if I was in your position and they still laughed at me, I would SO be sending a TON of formal complaints. Crime is crime, whether they think the items in question are silly or not. >:[

    54. Thanks everyone, I really appreciate it. I've got all kinds of records printed out. She emailed me and said she's been complaining to eBay. What audacity for a criminal! Luckily, eBay is so uncaring I doubt she'll get very far either.

chinadoll: I was thinking about something like that, like I wish I could hire a repo man to go take my doll back. I doubt that's legal or that I can do that, though, but I'll talk to the police.

Dont worry Ezzora, I am not brave enough to fly there. >_<

Yukinojo's replacement hand arrived from Volks today. It made me very sad to see it. I will submit it as further evidence to the police on Monday.

    55. I also agree with Saiko. Be calm so you won't struggle with words while you get it across their heads that it is NOT just another child's toy. If that doesn't work, we should get more people to complain about the scammer. A lot of people are with you on this so be brave <3~ PM me if you need help with anything.

    56. Thank you so much! :-D *hugs all* :)

    57. Somebody mentioned a TV show -- a friend of mine who got taken by a contractor called her local TV station and then called the contractor to threaten that she was going to go on TV and say his name and all his customers would see it. It worked - he came back and finished the job so she wouldn't do that. Wonder if something like that might work for you - it might have some interest, being a very expensive collectible doll... just a thought.

I tend to get upset too, so my other suggestion is to write notes for what you want to make sure you tell them. They might help you keep track, and not get so upset that you forget things that you wanted to say.

    58. help me howard?

i dont want to meddle, but since this person is apparently a big time scammer, if enough people go to the media, they might make a story on it.

    59. God People...I said I wasn't serious!!!!!

    60. Hi.. i've been thinking how to get ur words thru, and i feel its better u post it on network kind of thing like friendster or multiply or dot dot dot.. it is, amazing how everyone could know anyone just by that. anyway, also, post ur thing on bad dolly deals on LJ. alert people who dolly meets so they can keep a look out. it's just scary if she sold it oversea and became untraceable.
not to scare you and so sorry.
