This dude took forever to complete and get here, but I feel I am finally getting to where I want to be. Not really there yet, but I am getting there now. I'd like to think so, at least. I got him during the GO for the sculpt, it was a royal mess in the lower back, the whole thing. The only thing that went right, was that DIM actually listened to us requesting him to be small, for a larger sized Minimee head sculpt. Now, I don't know if that was a good thing or a bad thing, since he looks so extremely alien on the only larger body I own. All other DIM MNM I own, and even its own defaul head sculpt look like apples on a stick, on that body (cruel fate I say!). DX I suck at face-uping, I enjoy doing the only acrylic paint apps like action figures, on all my dolls/toys now, so I went a little heavy on the pigmented texture, which I didn't want to do, but I did! I am used to redoing my tiny version of Leon so much, that I feel like I almost wanted to give this one a heavy tan to match a nonexistent large action figure body, I don't own for this sculpt (or own at all!). I modified his nose, eyes and mouth. I had already modded him throughout the years, but this is the first time do heavy additive mods on him. He is going to need new smaller eyes now, which is going to be so much fun finding... Edit: Newer phone photo, that's less sharp, but more color and lighting accurate: Some bald shots, which I enjoy including all the time, but I find this particular head sculpt extremely appealing without hair! Probably because I suck at making wigs and his is so terribly inaccurate: This is the only decent reference source I was able to find of OG RE4 Leon, and I used as a guide for his face paint apps as well as mods, the last is the brows I mocked in PS, I always make them too arched/angry: This is the default sculpt straight from DIM circa 2009, and how my mods looked before painting him: This is him throughout the ages, and many repaints I gave him, just a few here though: Thanks for looking, - Enzyme
-Ada Wait Intensifies- I'm actually really impressed with the mods you've done. You not only gave him a thicker, more accurate nose, you gave him much fuller lips (and yet not plump lips - just suitably juicy) and the eyebags are really well done - none of them are obvious mods, and the only one I'd immediately notice was not originally part of the sculpt is the nose (you just can't find a good honker these days!) And your paint work has definitely improved over the years - it's so neat being able to see your progress with each repaint, it's kind of like he starts as OG RE2 Leon and slowly evolves into OG RE4 Leon, with a brief stop at Morpheus D Duvall along the way.
This is really impressive. I know you weren’t keen on all the texture, but I think it’s gorgeous! So realistic.
Oh! You have done a really good job with the additive face mods. I find mods where I add much harder to do. I would never be brave enough to do it on the face, and your guy looks great! I like how you opened the eyes as well. He looks just like Leon!
Cubism, thank you so much for your generous comments! It is kind of neat to look through all the old photos and see the changes. I wish they were more immediate and obvious to me, but I am glad at least they can be seen by others and I'm not just a nut job. (: I had pleasantly forgotten all about Duvall, can't say I was a huge fan of his (and I am usually into the villains more). lol! DX megastructure, thank you very much! I am a fan of texture but not so much of pigmented. More so when it's not accurate to the character. Leon has perfect skin, so it's a pain in the gut that I over did it. There's always next time though, so I'll live. n__n RabbidBunnies, thank you very much for your comments! I can see why additive mods would be scary to most other people. I find subtractive mods a lot easier to get right, faster. Additive mods are definitely slower to get right, but I find them to be easier overall because when you remove them, there's no damage left behind (if you're careful). Subtractive mods on the other hand, if you don't know what you're doing it's kind of done for. Although you can repair either, I find additive mods a lot more forgiving. (: I added a photo from my newer cell phone, that takes crappier, blurrier washed-out photos most of the time. However, they are often more accurate color and contrast-wise. I take so many, and only a handful of them are okay-ish. I resize them, because I am a computer person. The giant sizes don't show up well on my PC, so I resize all the ones I share to look okay for me. I'm lazy to do so with over 100 photos. However, I should probably start with the newer phone's photos now. I am always stuck with hyper pixelated photos from the older phone, that takes richer saturated photos, for no reason other than laziness on my part. T__T;; I need to fix his lashes, because they look so terrible. I use human sized ones, and they are not necessarily the best for tiny eyed dolls, but cheaper and denser than dolls ones, so those are the ones I use. I prefer thicker lash lines, and not mega-long, but because these are meant for humans, they are a pain for me to place just right. It's the bane of my existance, coupled with tiny iris eyes, that are actually tinier in size as well (the actual eyeballs!). T_T;;
