Yes, she was airborne. The thing is an old science project from 7th grade, hanging from very thing fishing wire from my ceiling. Don't worry! No tinies were harmed in the making of this photo (that bit of flesh? My brother's arm as he held the firefly straight and flat to keep her from falling while I stood on my bed- within arm's reach if she toppled- for photos).

 

While not technically "riding" a cannon does make an interesting form of transportation.
