It usually find naming a doll hard but Mallory just popped into my head when I looked at my new girl so she is Mallory. I'm not too sure about her mouth so would like feedback .. is it too pouty? sort of looks a bit pursed (if you know what I mean?) so I thought I would show a pic and see what everyone thought before I do any alterations to it. EDIT: OK, I made some alterations to the mouth nose area. The results in the pic below.
She's so cute! It may be the placement of her eyes, but she does look a little like she's pulling a face--you know, crossing her eyes and pursing her lips. Not that she's any less cute for it. ^____^
flippin'ek Kaye, you don't half work fast! yet another cutie in the works! okies, i love her expression, could be ' i am soooo bored ' or ' i wanna lolly purty pweesse ' if the bottom lip was an unth less full she wouldn't look as 'pouty' as you think she is. other than that she looks different to matilda and maya so she is all her own personality. i only wish i had the money to buy your kids and had an inch worth of your talent! (do you bottle the talent and sell it seperately? )
I like it-she does look like she is trying to pull a pout. What size will this girl be? (Crossing fingers she is MSD), and will a body be available for her?
I think she looks really pouty because of the indent under her nose. If it was softened, it may work better. I think she's your cutest girl yet.
aww kaye, she is so cute! i love the pouty lips~ i agree with Idoru, the placement of her eyes seems a bit like shes crosseyed? (just the eyeballs not the eyes themselves!) shes lovely though, and mallory does suit her! i can't wait to see more photos!! ^^
She looks very earnest and like she really wants to get her own way. It does look like her mouth is pursed, but in a good way! :3
Thanks everyone Sorry toydogz4 she is Matilda size .. and yes she will be sold with a modified Matilda body. I'm making some improvements to the body before I remold it. I have no idea what number of dolls I'll make yet .. I am looking at getting the pieces cast elsewhere so I don't have to suffer my allergy. LOL maggot. I sculpt at night and work on my orders during the day .. I'm one of those people who just can't sit still!! Here's a peek at her with a different colour wig.
OMG Kaye! She's amazing...put me down for one!!! I'll sell the furniture, dog, kids, whatever...I have to have one! Those eyes!! And I think the lips are great. The top one may be a little high-bowed for anatomic correctness, but that won't bother many people. Bring on the pout!!! If anything, make the bottom one even bigger!!! I *love* pouty dolls... Will you be doing different coloured resins? I loved the blue maya, although I think I'd play a bit safer n go with BW...
She's so cute!! I love her expression, she looks more timid where most of your other sculpts have been more impish.
She's gorgeous with that orange sherbet wig. Put me down for one as well. What better way to start with SD size than one of your dolls. I absolutely LOVE her in the orange wig.
Thanks everyone Kamika Ai and toydogz4 .. I've put you on the list .. I'll update here as things progress with her. If I get her cast by somone else it will probably be 6 to 8 weeks before she is ready.
I love her lips! Thier so cute! And her eyes are just adorible, and another cute little button asian nose. You make the cutest girls!
I really like her nose and the shape of her chin! However, the lips do look a little pursed... I think it's just the faceup though. I think with a fuller painted upper lip, her lips wouldn't look pursed at all! They would look more naturally full. I like her the best out of the girls so far.

thats my little sisters name xD and her lips dont look ' pursed ' more like she's doing that kissykissy fish face maybe filling out the sides of her upper lip some, and not painting the middle so high would help even it out :3

you astound me. She's adorable! the only thing i see wrong with her face is that the little indent between the nose and mouth is tilted. Other than that her pouty lips are tres cute! she'd make a great hermione granger.....
I think the top lip is too tall and seems almost off center somehow if you look at the nose in relation to the lips it seems pushed slightly to one side (or it could be the nose is, I think so its off center) and the lips overall look too flat as if there is too much clay above the lip so they don't come out but rather merge into the area above if that makes sense making them seem flat overall. I guess I don't like the lips. Of course if you disagree just ignor me its just my opinion on first seeing the lips. Some of this could be the bright lip coloring. I normally love your lips and am still wishing you would do an MSD girl have you created one and I missed it?
Thanks all. illyrimur, I see what you mean and you are right and it's easy to fix. TreeLore, I'm not sure what you mean about the lips being flat .. they aren't flat at all but I think she would benefit from a bit of reshaping of the top lip and the area between the nose and lip. No, I haven't made a MSD yet .. it's something I am thinking about for the future. I did sculpt a Mini SD but have to refine the sculpt a lot yet before she will be ready for molding so she has been set aside for now while I make the improvements to Matilda's body and get that molded.
Does this look better? I did some alterations to the top lip in photoshop but would be easy to do on the sculpt before the final mold is made.
Well, to be honest with you, I think that could just be done with painting the face up that way, rather than having to change the sculpte....Some ppl might really like the little pursed lip look....
LOL illyrimur .. I just manipulated the pic in photoshop for now but I will reshape her sculpt before I remold her. It's mostly the indent between the nose and top lips that is the problem. Oh, Kaye~ I don't know how you do it. I thought I had it bad with that little blue cutie of yours but... ;_; Mallory is too cute for words, and your dolls always come out looking so radiant and soft. Ackk, if I wasn't busy saving for my Japan trip...
I love her! She's my favorite out of your girls. I like the lips both ways, so I guess I can't really help you there. The face up is really pretty too, i love the eyebrows.
I think her nose is tilted a bit, which caused the mouth to look tilted a bit. The photoshop looks better, but the nose still looks a bit off to one side.
Thanks for that .. I studied her nose carefully and it is actually a tiny bit fatter on one nostril so I can correct that too One side of the face has a little more shadow in the pics so I think that may make it look a little crooked.
She is pouty, but that's not bad, a lot of dolls are pouty. The main problem I see with the mouth right now isn't the sculpt, but that it looks like the face-ups gone a bit high on the left side of the upper lip. She's cute though, I particularly like the soft shape of her jaw.
Well this is just fabulous. If the neck weren't so thick for her head it would be perfect... but it's still excellent. What impresses me most about the picture is that I'd been thinking the indentation issue was that it was just too deep... but it looks fine with her head in an upright, straight-on position. You sure know how to put an overall look together, lady...she is just too cute for words!
Thanks Kay I was surprised she fit on the Volks body .. I have her on a Luts girl body now and it fits great! Colour doesn't match but the fit is fine. LabRat .. I REALLY want to do a doll about 50cm tall .. like a bratty younger sister for Matilda so I'm hoping to find time to start that project soon.
She does look like she has been sucking on a lemon a bit. I think if the upper lip was thinner it would look nicer.
Oh she looks great, is that French Resin you're using? Do you know where they sell it? I want to cast my doll in french resin but I don't know where to get it >.<
I use Polytek easyflo clear kit. I don't know where you can get it in USA but I'm sure if you do a Google search you will find someone. www.Smooth-on.com also have a clear resin called Crystal clear 202 but it seems to be more toxic than the Polytek resin .. well, I react to it worse than I do to the Polytek. I like the lips either way...I think the first one, with the bigger upper lip is more interesting and less 'perfect' if you see what I mean...more human maybe? Either way, she's such a cutie *scampers off to sell stuff*
