My NENDOROID Dolls♥

That's awesome, I'm glad you found something that works. I have loads of regular nendoroids, and a couple nendoroid dolls too. The official doll body really isn't great lol. I sort of "ended up" with them so I won't bother to mod or make a hybrid myself, but I always enjoy seeing what other collectors have done. Your dolls look super cute!!

 

I have a little gang of Nendo dolls in my crew, too. They're fun.

And yeah. I wasn't pleased with the stock Nendoroid Doll bodies, either. They kept randomly losing arms or legs when I was dressing and posing them.... I've tried out a few different bods, and ended up with a pretty even blend of gen1 and gen2 YMYs, Piccodos, Ob11s and the strung UFDoll bodies. It also turns out that the Penny blind-box centaur bodies can work with Nendo heads with a little fiddling.

 

Just a heads up, it’s probably not a great idea to advertise these as an alternative because these YMY bodies are knockoffs of Piccodo9 bodies (although the hands seem to be replicated from Obitsu11, oddly enough), and Piccodo successfully won a copyright infringement case against them. https://x.com/hotaru8823/status/1700722202029777387?s=46&t=4p5nRrsi9Bdrs_0lk7Ex6w

Yeah I thought the lawsuit was against the first YMY body, not any subsequent bodies?

 

Pretty sure that's correct, yeah . It was the v1 body that got them in hot water with Piccodo.

 

In that case it’s hopefully fine, I was mainly wondering about DOA’s stance on a company if its done any plagiarism at all, but given that this is Brigadoon it may be less strict either way. Edit: I should clarify I meant less strict on a company’s history rather than strict on any specific counterfeit doll. I did not raise the question to point fingers or request mod activity, I was merely worried about the possibility of people unknowingly breaking rules if they followed advice to buy these bodies and posted them here.

 

From what the mods have said on previous posts regarding counterfeits on this side of the forum, there are not any less strict about posting illegal copies or anything anyone else would be allowed to post anywhere else on the regular side. It's just up to the user not to post them at all, since they can't also take the workload to monitor this side as well. That was the condition for keeping Brigadoon year-round for an indefinite amount of time, instead of just for special occasions, as far as I can recall.

As long as the users themselves keep from doing things that wouldn't be allowed to be done on the regular moderated side of DoA, which is mostly no illegally copied dolls (or any toy on this side). I believe because this side is not moderated by them, things like their stand on things like a company that's done copying in the past, cannot be asked on the "ask the mods," section because that would be adding to their workload, which once again, this side of the forum is not meant to affect them. I would just avoid posting anything todo with companies with past shady doings, but that's just me. I do enjoy this side of the forum, if it's closed, it's all due to people not respecting the mods desires not to have to police this side of the forum as well and having faith that users will respect those wishes. I don't believe it's a lot to ask, and pretty simple to do, actually, but then again that's just me. (:

 

It's my sincere hope that YMY ultimately follows Dollzone's example on this. One of Dollzone's very first dolls was a recast, and when the community was like, "Hey, that's not okay," Dollzone was like "Oh" and has produced wholly original dolls ever since and has since been forgiven & accepted. YMY's come up with at least three new body types after the problematic one and the three new bodies all seem original afaik. I'm hoping it's a case of "we dun goofed but we've learned from our mistakes," but only time will tell.
