This is the first time I do heavy additive mods on an anime style head sculpt. I've done a few on more realistc-ish, faces a lot more often. I enjoy doing those quite a bit. Having said that, these were such a pain in the lower back, I regretted thinking I should mod him. I feel that I could have probably gotten away with just heavily painting his eyes to be a different shape than what DIM gave him, but since I am an obsessive nut job, I had to mod him... DX I can always redo them, if I feel like it anyway, or so I thought (no, I really can! I just love pouring salt on an opened self-wound). I am happy with him, he could be so much cleaner, particularly the linework, my old-fart hands were extra shaky when I began painting him. However, I can just redo his face, as often as I need to. Even if it means forever! Lol! Another thing I can also redo forever, is his wig. I have zero qualifications to style hair, let alone anime hair! (: With his Geass eye: Bald shots. DIM gave him a crooked neck opening, where the S hook sits, so he's always off center on the body. I was going to fix that, but I guess I forgot. Due to how frustating the rest of the mods were: Thanks for looking, - Enzyme[/fong]
elisa_maza, thank you so much for your incredibly generous comments! He's far from being any sort of accurate, but I would have to do even heavier mods to get him closer. Right now, I don't believe I'll attempt them anytime soon, but since I am a nutjob, I might someday. Thanks again, and for leaving a comment just as much as for your generosity! (: vampyyri, I believe only Smart Doll has made an official Lelouch, I don't recall Volks ever having the license, but I might be wrong. I kind of lost interest in Volks a million years ago, when I got my first and only blank DDI and they "discontinued" their playline Dollfie stuff. I did always envy those who got the Smart Doll Lulu, because their eyes and outfit are amazingly accurate. I don't believe mine will ever get anything decent clothes wise, but I might still try to give him better eyes (not Smart Doll quality, of course, as I would have to be a toy maker myselt for that). Thank you so much for your comments, you are too kind! n__n Here are some more photos, of his progress throughout the years. I am sure everyone wanted to see... I wasn't ever planning on actually modifying him, although I did consider it, when I first got him and saw how deep his eyelids were carved, in person. However, I have zero anime-style experience, despite my love of the genre. As a traditional artist, I always thought it wasn't something for me to attempt to recreate -- as a terrible excuse, that's why my anime face ups are so awful, and my shaky hands don't help! His previous face up, from more than ten years ago, compared to the much messier recent one, and his new mods: A comparison of his default sculpt, by DIM, to my recent additive eye mods on him, that may or may not need a lot more polishing: A mockup I did, when I finished painting him and a compared him to the last recent-ish face up, and unmodified looks. He'll never have hair anywhere close to that vector piece, but one can only dream! The irises are way too huge though: Some mockups I did, during the mod process, to see if his eyes were as far apart as needed and large enough, compared to Lulu's "blank-mask" face from a screen shot of the anime (S2, Ep. 21). This sculpt's face is not wide enough, and the ears are not sticking out as much, so he'll never be as accurate as I would love, but close enough for me (probably...). I thought I had only repainted him twice, but I guess I have repainted him four times, including this newer one. These are his two first face ups, terrible as the dickens if I do say so myself. I over shaded his eyes, because I thought that looked more "accurate." Lol, lack of any anime skill whatsoever! Edit: Forgot to include one of his first ever and only outfit I will make for him, from S2. The jacket is the wrong material and the wrong color, but I was actually proud I completed anything at all, since I suck at sewing, and I'm a lazy bum. DX
You've come really far with this project. I could tell who he was supposed to be from just the photos alone. Good work. There's also something about him that I can see him cosplay as a Final Fantasy character, too.
Thank you so much for your comments, tinyflame! He was a royal pain in the gut, and I usually don't mind extensive mod works, but I did these all in "one sitting" compared to most of my other heavily modified head sculpts. Which I take literal years to do, such heavy work on most. However, I am glad I was able to at least paint him and see what he looks like so far. Can't say I won't mod him again in the future, but I am happy for now. Thanks again for your kind comments! I am a huge Final Fantasy fan, so it is a huge complement to read, you feel he could cosplay as a FF character! (:
