Well, it's almost been two weeks since I unboxed him but now I'll be sharing him with you, my first resin BJD***. A Dollmore Dollpire Rachel Hans on a 62cm Adam Body, LE44 in Normal Skin as a full set doll. I received him on January 3rd, 2024 after a long 6 month layaway from Denver Doll Emporium. ***I specify first resin BJD as I've owned Dollfie Dreams & currently own a DD head (some would label them as a BJD so I just wanted to make the distinction). (After a few days, I finally took the protection off of his face; he says, "Hello everyone!" ) More photos of his unboxing and just of him will be in this album on my Flickr here. As for what he arrived with, he came with his second promotional picture outfit including the wig. No shoes were included or shown in those pictures. He also came with two extra pairs of hands (I was only expecting the one human hand pair and the vampire pair pictured above). The ones he is currently wearing are the bigger human hands and the extras are the vampire ones pictured along with a set of smaller human hands. He also came with his COA, Manual, Dollmore Doll Ad Card, and a Dollmore Hard Ribbon Label (which can be seen on top of him in one of the photos above & to the side on another picture). Unsure if the hard label used to be how Dollmore did the COA in the past like some other companies have been suggested/known to have or what it really is for (maybe just to further prove authenticity?). Unfortunately, even though he is gorgeous, I've run into a few problems with him. One was of my own fault entirely while the others...not so much. Maybe I'm just being too critical but...*shrugs* Spoiler: Dollmore Hard Ribbon Label The Dollmore Hard Ribbon Label had the Dollmore Logo all scratched up inside the box. Unsure if this was Denver Doll's fault or Dollmore's. He was the last one in stock on their website and I'm unsure if they had him on display beforehand and maybe that caused the issue or what happened. (might need to zoom in or click photo for bigger picture to see all the scratches/chips) Spoiler: Staining His body came with a stain on the back of his right thigh towards the knee and the tops of his arms that connect to the shoulder came sort of shiny in some places (like they were rubbed too much). Not too big of a deal but still kind of disappointing. Maybe the stain will come out with magic eraser but unsure if it works as well on resin as it does with vinyl. Spoiler: Ears Dollmore cleverly hid his ears in all photos I could find of him under the wig so I had no idea he had pointed ears. I could tell they seemed more elongated which didn't bother me but I had no idea they were THAT pointy at the top. Certainly doesn't fit the character I had in mind and might have to have someone mod his ears down to look as close to human ears as possible. Spoiler: My Fault My fault entirely was that I thought I could deal with the single jointed knees. Nope. It isn't the worst by any means but just not something I personally want when considering the price tag. Spoiler: Stringing Issue His upper body seems very tightly strung inside the chest and neck area. He likes to lean a lot when trying to adjust his head or arms while his legs & ankles kind of just twist around at times. The wires, it looks like they put in (excluding the normal elastic), don't seem to do too much for the legs. Hands & arms pose amazingly though. Other than those things, he came very quickly once I paid my last layaway payment and got here safely. Luckily, his inside box did not really suffer any damage and honestly, is a very beautiful box to keep him in while I figure out what my plans are. I'll most likely have to replace his body as his shoulders are a bit too slight for the character I have in mind and I do want some more pose-ability for him while also fixing the pointed ear issue. I'll also, most likely, won't be keeping the outfit, wig, or default eyes he came with either. Hence why he wasn't clothed for these photos. He does not currently have a name. My first plans are to have him be dressed as a character from a book I've read and possibly experiment with him becoming his own unique character after that. Thank you for taking a look at my first dive into resin BJDs and checking out my vampire boy~
Congrats in your vampire! He looks gorgeous, Dollmore pits such attention to detail when packing their dolls! As for the kicky torso/loose leg situation, it sounds like the knot in the elastic is stuck somewhere so the tension isn't quite even from neck to ankles. You can try pulling it around to see if the knot frees itself or restring completely if it gets very bothersome
Thank you for taking a look! I’m glad you like him! I wish I could like the pointy ears but, for me, I only like the pointy ears for a vampire if they are more bat-like in their transformation already. Plus, it just won’t fit the character I have in mind. Just wish I would’ve known more clearly about them before I purchased him. Thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed giving him a look! I certainly agree about Dollmore paying attention to detail! Also, I appreciate the helpful advice about the body! Thank you so much again. I’ll certainly keep that in mind! If it looks like it’ll end up needing to be restrung fully though, I might put that off until I make the decision to either fully keep his body or replace it with a more suitable one.
Thank you so much! I hope to replace his body eventually and to sand down his ears to be as human as possible to be more suited to the character I have in mind. He really is alluring with those eyes though~ thank you for stopping by and taking a look!
