My first head, Samuel - In Progress-

Jan 22, 2007

    1. Hi! I've recently gotten my hands on some Super Sculpey, and I've decided to start making my first head.
His name is Samuel (Sammy) :aheartbea
I really need to hollow him out and sculpt a headcap. :sweat

Please excuse the poor picture quality (darn camera!)

      ((In Progress))

      Comments/ critique welcome!

Is that a start of a nose I see? Indeed!

      Profile view! More nose lurvins!:D

    2. finish finish finish! I have a homemade doll named Samuel also ^_^ My friend gave him to me.
      Nice size to work with.

    3. looking good so far, my only gripe is that the nose is a little high/big for the head, you might know already though! ^^

good luck! i'd like to see the progress for sammy :D

    4. About the noze, it really depends on what style she is going for. BJDs tend to have very small faces in comparison to the head, meaning the nose is low on the head and very small. But for a more realistic face it looks alright to me.

    5. actually in realistic terms, the eyes should be in the middle of the head, and the bridge of the nose right now is a little high to allow that. i'm not trying to be over picky, i just want to help ^^; instead of changing the nose, there is the option of just adding to the skull cap and making the head bigger! but theres also the matter of making sure wigs will fit on your doll *_*

i appologize to tilted love if my critique sounds mean or anything, i'm really not trying to pick your doll to pieces! i think it's a great start, and when making my head i had the same problem, so i'm just trying to save you the trouble i went through! anyways please keep up the good work! I really look forward to seeing samuel completed :aheartbea

    6. heh, its too early to give critique, but its def. coming along ^^

    7. XD Thanks for the critique, everyone.

I need to snitch mom's camera again.

Yumedust: No, I don't consider it mean! I'm a musician ,so I'm used to crituque.
I actually kind of agree :sweat

      Edit: To the sculpting!

    8. I've started to plan out where everything is going to be.

((Please excuse the mouth and eyes, I just kind of want to get a feel of where I should put them))

And I know his left eye got pushed up a bit :sweat

      I need to redo it.

And AMGGG! Lumpyness. I plan to attack him with sandpaper when I bake him.

      Thanks for looking!

    9. heh, i keep saying this over and over
but i recommend freezing the head now and again while you sculpt. It seems that the inicial shape of your head is lost after you started detailing. Freezing the head prevents that.
      Good luck!

    10. Okay! I'll do that!

      Thanks for the advice!
