My first faceup and body blushing

Dec 11, 2019

    1. SolsticeThis is my first blank doll, and my first attempt at doing body blushing and a faceup. She is not quite finished, as I will be adding gloss and short white eyelashes, but I wanted to post photos of my process to see if I’m on the right track. Critiques are welcome.

    4. I think the colors you chose go really well with her skin tone! You may want to consider using false lashes instead of drawing on the top ones--that usually defines them a bit more I've found--but you did a nice job drawing them anyway. For your first face-up this is really good! :)

    5. Thank you! I am planning on adding false lashes, but haven’t been able to find white ones. I picked up some black ones that I thought I might try to paint white? Fo you think that would work? I got her a wig in white.

    6. Hi NikkiB :) you might check Etsy for white lashes, there are several sellers there, that's where I found mine. Your doll looks wonderful, great job!

    7. Thank you!

    8. I think, DoA will show the whole image on your thread when you find the Flickr photos that have the URL ending with ".jpeg/jpg/png"

    9. Oh, Ok, I will look for that

      Thank you for the info

I’ve added her eyes and hair. Unfortunately, I cannot currently find the url ending in jpeg. I believe it has something to do with flickr’s migration to their own storage system. I will keep trying to remedy this.Sister Solstice

    11. Thank you!

    12. Nice! I kind of like the extra pencil line work around her eyes - it makes it look as if she built up extra layers of lashes and brow hairs to withstand the harsh blundering snow. I know Denver Doll Emporium sells some white lashes, you could try there if you still need some maybe?

The only bit of critique I could see... I notice around her lips and areola I can see the pencil lines a bit, and I'm not sure if that was intentional? You could build those areas up with a few more layers of pencil, pastel, or even watercolor pencil that is ever so slightly dampened for a more uniform look. You could get rid of those pencil mark lines and add in your own skin/lip texture lines in place of it. From a few inches away, though, it isn't even noticeable.

    13. For a first faceup is well made,I like the eyes shadding and the body blush too. However, next time try to make the eyebrow's hair thinner
