Aesthetics My first face up

Jul 3, 2016

    1. Done on an event faceplate that I've dedicated to use for practice.
I can't say it's great, but hey, not too bad for my first serious try.

I'm rather proud of the look of the eyebrows, but I think there needs to be less of a gap inbetween, and I could probably make them a bit cleaner next time.
Around the eyes is where I'm having the most difficulties...

    2. Very cute

    3. I really love the eyebrows too! I usually have issues drawing them but my third attempt at faceup turned well ^^

Try checking out "my face up stories" in youtube, the artist is amazing and you might get a thing or two from them ^^

    4. @Wolveblade Thanks!

@Kaizuko JB It's weird seeing how everyone says eyebrows are the hardest part. Maybe I just got beginners luck. And thanks for the video recommendation! I've already watched a bunch, and she sure does some stunning face ups!

    5. The spacing of the eyebrows could definitely lead to a cute aesthetic! A little more doe-eyed, you know? Around the eye's I'd suggest a lighter shade in the crease if you're going for a more natural look just to make it less blunt. A line defining the upper lash line would help define it as well. Overall, really nice and delicate for your first attempt! :D

    6. A great tip another bjd artist gave me when I was starting on face ups. Try to use different colors on eyebrows to give more texture. Like if you want them black, try adding some strokes of grey, it really gives this dimention to the brows. And as for the gap, I think it works well for baby like dolls, not so well on SD for example. This is totally my opinion, I hope I have been constructive :)

    7. This is pretty nice for a first try; the eyebrows are really cute!
But it is a bit messy, I think. maybe when it comes to the eyelashes, try using a lighter pencil first to get the right shapes and length then seal and go over them with a dark pencil~
I'm thinking maybe the crease is a little too prominent too? Maybe you could go with using pastels instead?
and i see you had trouble with filling in the waterlineline too! I always have trouble with that but in the end I found that acrylic paints are great for making sure the waterline looks neat c:

But hey! practice makes perfect so I'm looking forward to seeing your future tries c:

    8. Two things to help out are pencil sharpeners and get a kneadable eraser. Always keep a sharp point on your pencils will help with line work. The eraser will help keep your work crisp and less smudged (it also will get some of the stray color off the resin). Try layering colors in your brows and lashes to get more depth. Great first job!

    9. Your eyebrows are really great, you have got talent)
