So this is my first doll, I call her Sylphie. Despite the clothing and halfhearted face up, she is far from done. View attachment 710 I think giving her clothing and a wig was a mistake. They cover up all the work that I still need to do and I go about making her furniture and things instead of actually finishing her :XD View attachment 711 View attachment 712 Soooo, her torso is a SOLID single joint type, this makes her far too heavy to stand without her knees buckling. I know this could be solved easily by hollowing it out, but I like her weight. I was thinking I could rubberize the female sides of her joints and thus introduce more friction. If that doesn't work then I think I'll just accept that she can't stand cause she feels nice to hold being so heavy. Thanks for reading! Cyril
So progress has been slow. Mostly because I get sidetracked with other projects but the lack of a well ventilated place to sand is also an obstacle. Most of the work I have done is on her legs. Her thighs were too thin and her calves had odd concave curves where there should not have been. Before: View attachment 732 After: View attachment 731 View attachment 733 I think they look worlds better! Next I need to clean up her elbow and shoulder joints, redo her belly button (It got destroyed when I redid her lower torso.) and actually put some work into her fist hands. They look like big cartoon gloves right now X( Some problems with the head too. I bought a wig for SD size dolls (The one shes wearing in the pics I made myself) and It just wont go on far enough to stay on. I think her ears and neck are too far back and they get in the way. I don't have any dolls to compare sizes with either. The wig fits pretty tightly, is that normal? I do think it will work if I move the ears and neck though. Thanks for reading! Cyril
She's looking really solid right now! Nice job ^^ I think the top of her skull needs some padding and from what I can see I also agree the ears are too far back, ideally the top of the ears should be level with the eyes. Maybe that can help with the wig problem. I'd be interested in seeing her whole nude form! (That sounds so weird haha)
Thank you both! I'm very happy with her I know this is a forum for makers and artists and you just want to see the forms and how the joints fit, but I'm not really comfortable posting full nudes of her. I can make her a bikini or something though and post swimsuit pics! She is my only doll and I'm very attached to her XD For some reason I feel the need to protect her modesty lol. I think your right about the top of the skull needing padding, It will give more for the wig to catch on. I will try to do some of this soon but the weather is nasty here and, lacking a garage, I do my sanding outside :/ Are pics of new clothes that I make for her considered off topic? This is really just a place to share construction of the actual doll? I made her a beautiful skirt with lace trimmings a while ago, I'm so happy with it )
