20–39cm Dolls My first 1/6 sized BJD male.

Oct 26, 2018

    1. Hello Angels!

Some of you may remember the 30cm male doll body that that I had been working on for a few months in the Doll-making thread, he was as finished as I thought he could be. He was made out of apoxy putty with ball-hinged joints rather then being ball-jointed and strung like a normal BJG.

I changed my mind about that.

and I have decided that I want him be ball jointed and strung like a normal BJD. So I got to work on him once.
I engineered his joints and I also made him a new hip piece and did some refining for his torso joints.

I also started on sculpting a head for him out of Super Sculpty firm. It's slow work but I'm quite happy with how it's progressing.

I am also planing to sculpt his hands and feet.

    2. This looks amazing so far! You've got such smooth long lines in the body.

    3. @Rosslyn : Thank you!

      Head Update!

I have refined the nose, Sculpted the upper and lower lip to the basic shape that I want.

After boiling the head so that the gray scuplty was cured enough so that I can start carving out the shape of the eyes. (the eye-sockets where filled temporarily with uncured clay to make it be seen better.)

Updated photos are in the first post!

    4. The body looks really good! I love the head, what a great face!
So, sculpy can be boiled to harden? Is it a permanent harden or do you still need to bake it? I know nothing about sculpy. I bought some, and am afraid to use it Xo

    5. @VampireAngel13 : I have worked with scuplty a lot. It's my preferred sculpting medium. So I know a few tricks with it.
It can be boiled for a short time, about 5-10 minutes. It cures it just enough to "save" your work but it's still fragile.
Make the layer too thin and it will crack.
Thick enough, it still can be easily carved with a craft-knife and smoothed with sandpaper. But those who are curious about it should play with it before making anything serious with it.

    6. Latest Update!

Since it will be forever until I can save up enough to get my project casted in resin. I started on the hands.
I used the wire-bone technique for this pair and so far I'm really iffy on it. :sweat
Rome wasn't built in a day, I'm going to take it slowly and carefully if I'm not satisfied on the final look I can just try sculpting another pair.
After all, Failure is the greatest teacher.

    7. His body looks really good - very polished!

And although the hands may not be exactly what you were expecting, they look pretty neat!

    8. WoAH i loVe HIM, I can’t wait to see how he turns out! <3<3

    9. Hello hello! I have worked on his hands and feet parts and I've added ears to his head.

I still have more work to do on his body like give him his boy-bits and nipples and work on the head so that it's in it's finished form.

    10. <3Omg I love him even more!!! :D<3

    11. Thank you. ^__^

I think that I will be taking a little brake from working on him. I have to get a few replacements for my dremel tool in order to progress.

    12. Ah no worries!! Please take your time <3 it’s always good to take a break! If you need any help replacing parts please let me know! Have a goodnight <3

    13. And continuing work on his head. I've made a rough resin copy and refined it. This is where I noticed that the ears where different sizes.... sighs Oh well, he's intended to be in my personal collection so it won't really bother me. I'm just going to keep it as a reminder of my evolution as an artist.

The work I have left on this doll is to make his head-cap, And then some sanding and priming. Then he'll be ready for casting. :)

Oh my gosh!! He’s turned out so well! I can’t wait to see what’s next <3

    15. I missed your update! He's looking so good. Ears are amazingly hard to match. :sweat

    16. Oh yes, ears that are only 1cm.

Anyways, I worked on his head cap and I'll call the original master sculpt "Finished"!

      Finished head-cap:
