Aesthetics My faceup journey

Feb 17, 2017

    1. Hi, I've been doing faceups for a little bit now and I wanted to start a journal marking my progress. I'll post new faceups i've done here as well, I'm posting older ones at first just to remind myself of the progress I've made. Newest is the lowest down

and the most recent one (ironically shes a reshell for the first)

please offer me any critique you have! I'm planning on redoing two of my dolls faceups tomorrow to try out a technique I experimented with here

(sorry the image isn't the best quality, my point and shoot is dead) I laid down the linework before the blushing here and it came out a lot better, so when I redo them tomorrow I'm going to try it.

thanks for looking, I plan to update this post regularly!!

    2. Hello! I'm a beginner when it cones to face up and I believe you've improved a lot compared to your old faceups. All I can say is that practice makes perfect and blend blend blend lol what kind of materials are you using??

    3. @ashvianey thank you! yea, sometimes I get too excited to finish and don't blend well enough lol. I use soft pastels and watercolor pencils. I want to try using watercolor paint too.

    4. Yea I feel you!! I tend to have a mind set to finish a piece in under an hour so I tend to rush things lol. I also tend to redo faceups because almost all of them have been in a rush xD and I haven't tried using watercolor paints. I've been meaning to try it but never did since Ive only seen people use acrylic paint (+ the other items you mentioned)

redid these two today, nowhere near professional but I'm really happy with them

    6. Definite improvement, congrats and keep at it.

    7. I'm seeing a lot of improvement! You're really starting to get the lips down :D I like the full eyebrows on your two most recent faceups. They add a lot of expression and character to your dolls.

Perhaps adding some top eyelashes could add some depth to their eyes? :thumbup
