Modification My doll who has mushrooms for an eye (UPDATED WITH FINAL PICS)

Please let me introduce you to Pebble, my little forest creature, aka the best pebble merchant of these lands. He has wares in the form of the shiniest, smoothest rocks you've ever seen, IF you have trinkets for him in exchange. His prices are very reasonable though: one supreme pebble for just one measly little trinket. You won't refuse his offer, will you? You don't want him to be sad, right?

Intro aside, let me tell you a bit about the head itself, because we do have a long-long history.
I bought this already heavily modded Soom North meditation head as an unfinished project doll in 2015. His original modder/owner changed their mind along the process, but I thought he was perfect as is at the time.



I gave him a faceup and one of my existing characters back then, and he worked perfectly. Later on some things happened that made me want to sell him, which I did, but a few years later when he popped up on the secondhand market again, something told me I needed to buy him back. So we ended up together again.
He lived in a box, with the original faceup I gave him in 2015, for many many years. Without a body, without proper care and attention, because even though I loved him, he was still carrying all those negative memories and emotions that made me sell him in the first place. Still, I didn't want to give up on him a second time.

Finally, just a few days ago, I got the sudden urge to do something with him. A character overhaul, or a complete refresh maybe. And then I remembered something else: my very very small amount of leftover Milliput from about 10 years ago. (Yes, it's been a very long time since I last modded a doll.) And the fact that a little while ago, my best friend sent me a picture of an amazing mushroom-themed mug, which made me want to create something mushroom-themed myself.

Miraculously, the clay still worked and hardened perfectly well.
And thus, my love for this head and mushrooms combined, Pebble was born.

This whole process including the mod and the faceup has taken me 3 days so far. I've also made him a wig out of mohair and the same fake moss that's on his face, which is currently drying.

If you'd like to see him in his final glory with his own hair and clothes, I'll make sure to post some new pictures in this thread later, once everything's finished.

Unfortunately, I know exactly what kind of smell you're talking about. Luckily it's not that bad with the small amount that's on the head, plus I'm hoping even that faint smell will fade away the longer it's out in the open. I'll definitely share more pics of Pebble, although he won't have his own body for a while, but he can borrow another one and still have his own clothes and hair at least. His wig has dried since, so now I'm planning on sewing him a few pieces of clothing to complete his outfit, and then I'll be back with photos of his finished look. (With a borrowed body, but he'll get his own when the time is right.)

It's Pebble time!!

Although I still haven't finished his pants, today was a beautiful, sunny day, and I couldn't wait any longer, so I took this little bean outside for some photos. He was borrowing a Withdoll body this time, as he still doesn't have one of his own. Yet. But everything else shown on the pics are his, including the suuuper old DZ Raphael shirt I've had for god-knows-how-long. Pebble has claimed it, it suits him perfectly.

After uploading that update, I've decided to pull the trigger and ordered a Doll Leaves body for him. In a few months, he's finally going to be complete after all these years. Thank you for following his rebirth.

If everything goes well, his own body arrives sometime in July. Fingers crossed! I can't wait to have him sitting out on my shelf with the rest of the boys.

 

Wonderful news: Pebble's own body has arrived! He's finally complete! (Apart from his hand-blush, which is yet to come as the weather is currently rainy.)
