Soooo, I started this head more than a year ago. Her name is Ash and she's come a long way, but there is still a lot of work to be done. I'll start with the old pics and go to the new View attachment 106 View attachment 107 View attachment 108 I may be a bit slow with finishing her and my other two heads just because I get incredibly sad when working on them now. Sadly in December my mom passed away. Just before she did, she ordered me the body for this girl to go on. she really believed in me and my half baked ideas of sculpting dolls, hence why I'm trying to start posting my work more. I hope you guys will bear with me and maybe even like some of the stuff I've done
more pics View attachment 109 View attachment 110 View attachment 111 I lost the pictures from this stage to the next she is currently primed and I've started sanding and filling. Her eyes are smoothed out and (hopefully) even. she has ears now, but I still have to fix her neck joint, smooth out inside her head and fix her eye wells, and finish smoothing her out.... so much to do! I'll put up pictures soon
So sorry to hear about your loss. But its great your mom believed in you! Looking forward to more wip pictures! Best of luck!
Sorry to hear about your mom. This is a really good start, I think. I like her expression, and how pointy her chin is. I don't think there are enough pointy chinned girl dolls in the world.
The angels are really sharp on her chin. I think it'd be better if you softened it up a little so it wasn't so much of a triangle. Maybe evena little more definitions in the lips and nose. I do like the eyes however. I think she'll look great when finished.
Thanks ouimissymarie I like the shape of her chin too. from the front anyway hehe. great, thanks for the advice Wyverngem I added more to her jaw from the bottom for the neck piece and I think that did the trick.. You'll see it in the next pictures. If it still seems wrong just let me know. So I had all of the in between pictures of Ash accidentally deleted except for one here she is a little bit further along. here you'll see (I hope) that I added to her cheeks, rounded and mostly smoothed her out a bit and her eyes have been cut out properly. (I happened to have her sitting around and a friend snapped a photo so thankfully I still have this one of her in this stage :P) View attachment 210 This is where is gets a bit harder to see. she's been primed and sanded once here. there is still so much smoothing to do and I was still waiting for her body at the time so she has no neck mechanism you can see where I added her ears in. ugh, they are the hardest things ever to sculpt. thanks! the black stuff is just the color of the primer that i am using. i couldn't find a lighter color but the contrast helps to show where the imperfections are
I am sorry to hear of your loss. It is so wonderful to have someone believe in you like that. Good job. She is going to be beautiful. I like the idea of using the primer as a visual aide when sanding and such. Thank for sharing
Thanks dollsbestfriend, she really was amazing as for the primer, it really does help a lot, especially for smoothing everything out^^ here are some more updates of Ash after filling in her forehead and a couple other tweaks View attachment 164 View attachment 165
here's after modding her lips and a couple other places View attachment 166 after spraying again she's drying here View attachment 167
And here is how she currently looks View attachment 168 View attachment 169 there's still a lot of smoothing to be done, especially around the mouth, but it looks like we're getting there
just a quick update, I'm all done this head now! in the process of casting now but its my first time doing it and god is it difficult. I've also sent out a request to dollshe to see if they will cast it. excited!
Hi everyone! Sorry to revive this old thread, but I just thought I'd update on what happened. I sent her out to be cast and she got lost in the mail to china! I almost died. Turns out their system is very unreliable and you need to do EMS or their equivalent. I ensured her but didn't send her with EMS She was lost for almost two years and then suddenly arrived back at my home in Ontario! I picked her up the next summer when I visited and I've made a few more adjustments. hehe. I'll put some pictures up tonight when I get home. (she looks all rough again >.>)
