There don't seem to be any new posts here in a while, which is a shame. Perhaps I can revive it a bit. I've made a lot of BJDs since 2021, not all of them are completely finished yet; most are still prototypes without face-up. I usually print the heads in resin and the rest in FDM.PLA. Two models were cast. Some of you may recognize them. I've now switched to 1/6 scale, as I can print the entire doll in resin. That will be my next test. I actually didn't want to do anything with resin anymore because of my breast cancer... But FDM prints are almost impossible to paint properly. If anyone would like to share a tip, I would be grateful.
@bebidolls Great looking dolls. I've never had to paint dolls like this before, but I have come across dolls that were difficult to paint. The first time I tried to paint some OT-Pullips it was a mess. I found if you use a base to give the paint more of a grip You can paint them more easily. I used a brush on matte mod podge base for my dolls. Once it had dried, and it does dry clear, I was able to do my faceups more normally. I hope that it works for your dolls as well.
Hi, thank you, Oh thesevtwo are my only casted Resin Models, Moon as Kitsune ans Dark Moon as Dragon❤️ The other Dolls are all Printed Prototypes.
thank you so much. I am not great in faceups, i still need experience to do it, mostly my faceups will be kind if blotchy.
i decided to stick with resin for my dolls, fdm its impossible to paint neatly. and the fine details are only visible with resin.
