I'm so happy to see this thread! I saw the dolls on Instagram and thought they were the most adorable things I've ever seen. I really love dragon and bear and the cream body I hope one day I'll be able to find (and afford!)a bear
Yay! I’m happy to see this thread! I have a little Tan Dragon on the piggy body! I regret missing out on bear but maybe I’ll find one second hand. These dolls are just so cute
The artist is making new dolls now. I never see that some previous dolls were restocked. I think you should looking it on second market. ^^
I own Piggy in mia pink skin. And am currently waiting for Lamb in tan skin. I also bought the sleeping head. I really want Bear, but I missed out as I lost my job at the same time he was released.
Looks a bit like dolls from my childhood. =) It's interesting idea but I personally don't actually like some mechanisms at the bjd.
It is a unique concept, but I personally find those dolls kind of creepy. I had a fear of plastic baby dolls as a kid, especially the blinking sort, and if reminds me of them.
I agree with both of you. It's neat and reminds me of childhood dolls but i don't think i like it as a concept on BJD. it *is* kinda creepy heh
/threads/200-–-muhan-doll-shark-full-doll-pale-tan.857231/ Here is the link. It says June, which is weird, cuz I'm sure I saw it at the top of sales yesterday.
I'm so happy to see this thread pop up! I love Muhan's adorable baby dolls! I wanted Shark very much, but decided against getting the blank doll and instead will try to snag a painted one from the secondhand market. I have Momo - she seems to be an early head sculpt by Muhan and didn't come with a body. I have her on a hybrid Akagidoll body and it works well ^3^
I've got shark on a piggy body and am just waiting for her head to come back from the talented @Atra where she's been for a faceup. I love her little tiny teeth!
You can find faceup artists on Instagram and Etsy as well. It depends where you live and how much you want to pay. Popular artists tend to charge more. It’s worth shopping around.
I've sent 3 dolls to faceup artists before, but only directly from the seller. I've never sent one that I already owned, as I just can't bring myself to actually send them away once I already got them. I can't drive too, so posting would be such a hassle.
That's a tricky one! I can't drive, so I rely on my husband to take me to the post office >.> But some couriers will pick up from the house, I think? They do in the UK, including the post office. I've used a local faceup artist who is very good and am just waiting for my Shark head to come back from Italy - another great artist. The other thing I so is to buy most of my dolls second-hand so they already have faceups. It's definitely a problem - of course you could also learn to do faceups yourself? I did try once but the result was a bit funny.
I still live at home, but my mum considers it a waste of money, lol. I have tried a courier before but I can't remember what happened. They wouldn't pick up from where I lived anyway. I buy all my dolls second hand now, and I've been extremely lucky with many of them. I actually own all materials needed for a face up, but living in tropical Queensland, the humidity is often well over 70%. I think the sealant is best under 50%. I also can't find many local face up artists at all. It's a really good thing that Piggy is such an adorable sculpt, he barely even needs to be painted.
Oh gosh! The humidity could be quite tricky for Mr Super Clear and things. It is tricky if you live somewhere remote. I live just outside the city of Bath, so Royal Mail etc will pick up.
I just finished paying off my Lamb the other day! I'm so excited for it to arrive... They're so cute!! Still not exactly sure what I want to do with the faceup, but the face is so cute, there's no wrong answers...
I paid off my Lamb as well. Deciding on a faceup is super hard. I am thinking of a mushroom or cherry blossom fairy. Then going for a basic faceup later.
oooh, mushroom and cherry blossom fairy are both super cute ideas! I would love to see how those looks turn out if you go for them! Also, good luck on getting Bear, too!
I am going to start their face ups today, so if they work, I will upload some photos. I managed to grab Bear too. I didn't realise he was on the taller body, so he is a head taller than all the others who are on the Piggy body. I now have to decide on keeping him the tall one or swapping with Lamb, as they are both tan. I thought Lamb might be cute being the tall one out just for something different, especially as girls often get their growth spurt earlier.
Ugh i think muhans mianmian is one of the most beautiful dolls i have ever seen! I wish i had money! Also she only had 5 face up slots and they're already filled. Her face up is so so beautiful
Right?? Mianmian is so pretty!! I was also thinking of just getting her head and considering my options for the body later... It's too bad her faceup slots are filled, but I guess it's not surprising. I wonder if they'll all be done by the artist herself.
I was thinking about it too! I think she does do her own faceups. So i can totally understand them being so limited. She just does them so beautifully! If i get her ill have to find an artist with a similar face up style. I know if you order her with the body it'll be doll family H I wonder what others would be compatible
I totally agree! If she had been offering faceups for Lamb, I would have tried to get one of her faceups for it. I was thinking of checking the DFH body measurements vs. other bodies to see how they compare. At least the resin colors are pretty common, so hopefully finding a match won't be too hard on that front either.
I've recently discovered Shark and I am devastated that I can't find him for sale, was he a limited release? Do they ever re-release sculpts?
Unfortunately i think all of hers are limited one time release I think the best bet is looking second hand
Thanks for the reply! I've never had a hard to get "grail" like I see so many people talk about before! Kind of excited for the search. Although I do quite love the teasers of the "Puppy" that is being posted on instagram lately. Also super super cute.
I've been on the search for a yosd lately since it is the one size of bjd that I don't have. I might just wait for this puppy sculpt. I love the little head with the tongue sticking out. Absolutely adorable. But I'll definitely always being keeping an eye out for the shark.

Why oh why did I decide to click in this thread. Oh no. Ugh. I am smitten. This is bad, so so very bad.... Bc of course I'm in love with another set of limited sculpts. Of course I am Gotta say I would've jumped on one of those mp links with both feet if my current dolly budget wasn't tied up in an ot (for this thread) doll.
Thanks for the links! I think I'll pass though. I'm finding myself more in love with the new Puppy sculpt they've been teasing, so I think I'll just wait for him.
Puppy is up for sale! I'm so excited! I preordered the "Crying" Puppy in pale tan with the cream body. I was also lucky enough to be early and was able to get a faceup as well! Is anyone else going to be preordering Puppy? Edit: Also, if anyone has any good clothing recommendations, I'd love some ideas! I'm not quite sure what these cuties can fit into. And if I did the conversion right, I think he'll wear a 6-7 wig? Can anyone confirm that for me? I want to go ahead and start shopping for him. He's going to be my little werewolf pup named Connor.
I got my Tiger from the second order of them Muhan's Doll did a year later, so there's hope she may rerelease Shark! I'm pretty sure my Tiger wears a 6-7 wig, I have to double check. She is a fun doll to travel with!
I'm crying because I missed the puppy pre-order I would have ordered all the heads, I love the sculpt so much!! I guess now I have a "Holy Grail" doll
I hope you're able to find him eventually! I see some of the other limited Muhan sculpts in marketplace every now and then. Once SpaceStudio gets him in for shipping, you could always message them and ask if they had gotten any extras. I asked about Shark once, way after that doll got released. They didn't have any, but they said it's always a possibility that people will cancel their orders or something.
I emailed SpaceStudio and they told me the same - preorders are sold out. But they said if there happen to be any extra they'll let me know. Now we wait.... hahaha
