Having so much time during quarantine to tackle new projects, my focus has returned to my dolls. Part of that is looking for more ways to provide them with clothes on my own, which inspired me to learn to sew a doll dress (you can see the project journals for that here and here). But, this week I returned to the familiar and knitted some clothing. Instead of buying something new, I decided to try altering a knitted dress pattern I already had for a doll that is roughly Agatha's size (she is a Fairyland MiniFee Chloe). I am pleased with the result and how it looks with the few modifications I did to help it work better with Agatha's body shape and size differences. First I made the pattern as written (you can see it on the left in the picture comparison), but it was way too big around, too short for her chest (the purled row landed right on her boobs), and didn’t have much shape (it fit so badly that I did not both to add sleeves to it and scrapped it). So I made adjustments to make the chest a few rows longer, nipped it in at the waist a bit (directly underneath the purled row), and skipped the third round of increases at the beginning so it wasn’t so big overall. I also made the sleeves a few stitches shorter around and did them a few rows longer than the pattern said to. (You will also note that I skipped the variegated yarn for the skirt area in this second attempt because I did not like how the stripes were falling.) If you are on Ravelry, I wrote up all the modifications I did in detail there. You can also find information on the pattern there if you want to buy it for yourself. Next I am going to work on making a sweater to go with it, using another pattern from this same set that is a really cute cardigan. For that, I will use that 90s electric colored yarn!
