I'm searching for a pattern of girl's panties, if possible DoD-sized! I did a search in this forum, but the only link I found lead to a dead ending. >_>;
Not really a "pattern", but... http://www.denofangels.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=19759 (it was in the Mini forum)
if no one has a pattern for you by the time my dolls get here *sometime this week* i can make one pretty easy.
I drew up this last night, it should work printed in 72 dpi please note that you need to add seam allowence: instructions: cut out pattern, pin to fabric and cut about 1/3 of an inch extra for seam allowance. hem the top (the two ends that say hem on them) and the leg holes, trim excess seam allowance, then sew the sides together right sides in. cut excess seam allowance and turn inside out, and they should fit slight snugly :] note: I suggest using stretch T-shirt knit fabric, and elastic thread to make these. I also suggest using a ball point needle on your sewing machine if you're sewing on t-shirt knit, because ball point needles helps stop your sewing machine from eating stretchy thin fabrics.
I know this is a dead thread, but the pattern is still useable~! I just drew up a variation of this pattern for my tiny and it worked quite well. ^__^ A couple people were asking for variants on the measurements--well, I don't typically print any patterns out; I re-draw them all with a cheap tape-measurer and pencil. XD I did the same with this pattern and Allura (my tiny) is shaped rather abnormally, but here is how I took the measurements... Hopefully it's helpful to someone~ And here are some pictures of the panties I made using my version of the pattern ^___^ ^--I'm a sucker for realism, so I actually sewed a bit of extra fabric on the inside where it would normally be in girls underwear. ^__^ And here they are on her! They were a teeeny bit big, but not too bad, considering. ^__^ And they fit quite well under the dress they match too~! Mostly they're big because I gave myself a larger hem allowance than I normally do and I miscalculated when sewing the hem because of it. XP Anyways, good luck with your sewing escapades everyone--I'd love to see pictures if anyone else is able to make undies with this pattern. ^.^
I printed that out... cut 2 on the fold line... and can't figure out for the life of me how to put them together without giving my doll a massive wedgy LOL What am I doing wrong? I like the idea of the picture above, but I don't have the measurement for the YID from belly button to bumcrack So I am at a bit of a loss there. Any suggestions? any help? please and thanks?
Thanks, massive help. Actually had an idea the first pattern shown would be the easier, but I forgot to make allowances for the edges the first time. The second time I made too much of an allowance and forgot that I was using shirt-grade cotton, which would stretch anyway--meaning I'll have to fix the side seams again. Again, thanks for these patterns.
Iris is still panty-less... soon to be in a box (hopefully sooner than later) all by herself... with no panties *gasp* And she will arrive here... and scream "mommy!!!! save me!! clothe me! Love me!!!!" And I'll have to tell her... I can love you... maybe I can clothe you (maybe) but I have no panties for you my dear!!!! you must learn to go comando.... FOREVER!!!! Actually till I can afford some of those cute Dollmore lingerie sets I guess lol Apparently I can't do panties for the life of me. EDIT: Haaaa! I figured it out!!! But I didn't like them.... so I am experimenting with my own pattern now. I just don't know if I can sew cotton jersey *shudders*
yay! I was just realizing my incoming girl was going to be running around without panties when she gets here. My brain finds that really unacceptable so this is a big help. Thanks!
Really helpful thread I did see another thread with a tutorial on how to do this, but now I can't find it!! Does anyone know the link? X
I made very realistic panties with a pair that never fit me right, so they were never worn. I use panties with a thin elasic waitsband and with nice-looking thin leg-elastic (I like to use the leg elastic with a lacy or patterned look on the exposed, unsewn part of the elastic. Don't use the panties that have that thick Hanes-tye of elastic waist. It will not work for BJD's. I like Victoria's Secret cotton panties with a small cute pattern on them. The smaller the waistband elastic and the pattern, the better the look on dolls. Solids work well, too. Lay them out flat, unfolded, front side up. lay your doll on them (one side of her against the side fold of the panty) and measure and mark with a sharp pencil around her where the panty would go. Make them about a cm smaller than her on each side so they can stretch and stay on. Make the crotch part a bit longer than panties look when finished, to allow for it to reach each other and for 1/6 inch seam on each side. Cut out the panty shape with the waistband at the top. You can even do the cut with the fold (one side of the panty) staying intact, so that you will only have one side and the crotch to sew up after you put the leg elastic on. Turn the unsewn panties "inside out" so that right sides are together. Sew up the side first and then the crotch, finishing the seams with a zig-zag stitch or serger. Set aside. Remove one of the leg elastics from your cut up panties with a seam ripper. Try not to damage it, you need it intact. Cut two pieces that will fit around the doll's legs. Using smallest pins you have (tiny silk pins work best), pin the beginnning of the leg elastic at the back of each leg. Stretching the leg elastic as you go, hand sew the leg elastic around each leg opening. Join it to the beginning of the leg elastic at the end with small, even, neat stiches. Some sewing machines may be able to do this task, but mine will not handle it without eating the little elastic strips. When you get finished, you will have very realistic and comfortable-looking cotton panties for your doll!
