Mar 11, 2024

    1. The stages of creating an egyptian themed throne. Made of thick styrofoam, mortar, primer, layers of spraypaint and the sphynx is crafted of four different parts that were put together to fit the vision. Decorated with leather seating cushions and leather inlays plus golden snakes adorning the frames. Also added crystal stones resembling zodiac sign Virgo and star constellations on the side. It took 6 weeks to create the throne.

    3. They are amazing! Did you carve them out of one piece of Styrofoam? And what is mortar - is it like what they put between bricks?

    4. I have used 4 panels of styrofoam, each for the sides, the seating plate and base plate. Then I have used a copper cutter to shape those pieces and put them all together. Yes, mortar is the stuff you put between bricks. I wanted it to look kind of ancient, when there were no tools to even out their stone seats.

    5. Very nice! I use rough Styrofoam spray painted with mat gray paint for stone tables, walls, etc.! It looks very realistic when painted!

    6. Awesome! I would love to see pictures of yours. :D

    7. This is amazing... been trying to get around with making a throne (or 2) myself but was leaning on a wire frame and airdry clay. This would be a lot cheaper to make and lighter too :D
