Hybrids MSD and SDC heads on non Volks bodies

Ah man! I've had two MSD heads with me recently, and did put them on my Kid Delf out of curiousity. Though I was stupid and didn't take any pictures.... the fit is near perfect, and it looks proportional. My only worry is resin match.

My Kid Delf is about a year old, so she's less pink than latest batches, so she was a closer match to the MSD head. But I'm not sure about newer bodies.

 

I handle a lot of different heads/dolls on a regular bases, CP's resin color doesn't match Volks at all. Even the older CP resin is too warm. Just picture deep peach next to a glowy cool yellow pinkish tone. On the other hand, Souldoll's current resin matches CPs nicely (it's a lighter shade of peach, and its also much more glowy than CPs).

I am sorry. I didn't take pictures either at a meet while we did comparisons.

The CP kid delf resin is too pink compared to volks resin. It just looks wrong.

The older blue fairy bodies matched volks resin better. The new blue fairy bodies are too pink to match with volks now.

 

I can put my f09 head on either a male or female Mnf body. It looks...not soo good

I have a volks MSD Midori and I love her dearly, however her ever growing personality is fast outgrowing her childs body.

I do not want to replace her sculpt completly as her face is just so perfect, but I feel she needs a more mature body now.

Large breast size doesn't matter too much as I can sand them down if needed, but I would like her to have a bit of bust. Also I don't mind if it is a tall msd or not.

So any suggestions?

 

I remember blue fairy old skin was a good match. I vaguely remember someone used an Angell Studio body. . .

 

That was my sister and I! We managed to get a normal skin urethane body from Angell Studio by asking them. It's a perfect match. Here are some pictures of my sister's Hewitt II head on it.

 

I understand the Domuya normal skin is a really close match to Volks pureskin NS. (The Domuya "light tan" is an okay match to Volks sunlight, but not as close as the NS match).

 

i am hoping soon to buy a volks FCS F09 but im not that fond of their msd bodies (too young looking for the character) and i am wondering what other boy bodies will fit and match volks snow skin

the character is supposed to be 18 years old at least and the paler skin the better as he is an albino.

Hi! I saw a lot of threads looking for resin matches or male dolls, but I am only interested in size/proportion for female doll.

Does anyone have a Volks MSD head that they could show either on or next to a nude, mature-ish female MSD body from another company such as Dollzone, Bobobie, Angel Fantasy, AoD, Asleep Eidolon, Fantasy Doll, Resin Soul, Iple House etc? The head can be a male's head as long as it is Volks .

Again, resin match doesn't matter. I'm only interested in seeing if it will turn out to be a bobble headed doll or not . Thank you so much!!

 

I currently own a SDC Kurenai head and am looking for a more mature body (or something skinner) then the MSD one that she was previously on. I've looked into the SDC she was originally on, but am looking for other options.

Do Custom House/Doll Catch, Dollzone, Dream of Doll (older resin batches) or Illusion Spirit match?

Any suggestions/ideas on other matches would be appreciated. Looking also for "fit" images, not just skin tone.

 

I, too, have a Volks MSD head on a Kid Delf body (old girl version). In my case, it fits beautifully, and is an almost-perfect resin match. Seriously, at least 98% exact. Here is Hanako:





I changed the hands to Angel Region hands, since the hands I purchased with the Kid Delf body (secondhand) were more yellowed than the rest of the body. The Angel Region hands are not a perfect match, but it's not the sort of difference you'd notice unless you were looking for it.

I've got an SDC Miko head on an F-doll boy body. For a cheap body, it's actually very nice as far as posability goes, and it's pretty buff compared to some MSD boy bodies, so I like that he's a little more mature than my chunky bitty boys. XD And the best part -- the resin matches perfectly! The head and body are both normal skin. (I forget if F-doll has a NS pink/NS yellow differentiation, but I'm pretty certain this is yellow)

Now, I know you're not trying to make a boy out of your Kurenai, but I think F-doll's girl bodies are nice, too. =^_^=

Okay, I don't have a hybrid, but I could easily swap out the heads of my dolls. Blasphemy I know, but anyway, my 8 year old Volks oldskin Myu head on my 1 year old DZ Normal Yellow skin single jointed body for comparison:

And the Resin match between the 2 skins:




It's hard to tell in the photo, but in person, the resin of DZ normal yellow skin is a lot more peachier than the oldskin Volks, but the doll is 8 years old, so it's more of an Ivory color. I don't know what the Pureskin match would be, but if it's close enough to the Oldskin, I'd say the resin match would work. It's not perfect, but close, something that could that blushing could take the difference away.

As for proportions from the photo you can see the it doesn't look odd, but the neck is a little on the long side, a small amount of sanding could probably easy that issue. I think because Myu has more roundier face than Megi. Depending on the sculpt, you may have to sand. A word of warning though, DZ double jointed bodies have smaller necks than they're single jointed cousins. If you are going to use a DZ body, stay with the single jointed ones. The DZ single jointed boy body is listed as having a 7cm neck, but it's actually 7.5, so it doesn't look bad with the MSD head. The new girl bodies, however, have 6.6 cm necks, so those are going to make the dolls look like bobble heads, although you may like that.

I've made several volks MSD/SDC hybrids, in fact, more than half my Volks dolls are either on different bodies or have a body part from another company. I know there are several good options for hybrids out there, so this does not have to be the only option.

I was requested to share my hybrids by a few people so I hope this helps!

First, my F-21 head on an Aira tiny body:

Please excuse the tan head on the NS body but I wanted to use the biggest head that still looked in proportion. (I would have tried my Schulze's head but it was way too big to look good on this body).
The Aria body is VERY close to the Unoa body and is very stylized. In my opinion, a stylized MSD head like F-21 looks good on it, and with clothes and a wig I don't think the proportions would look odd. What makes the F-21 head so big is the height of the headcap, it is a higher dome than other MSDs.

Below is a comparison of the hybrid to my SDC girl:

The Aria body is about 1cm shorter. the SDC has slightly wider shoulders and a more barrel like chest, and slightly bigger waist. The Aria resin is closer to newer batches of Volks (2011). I chose the Aira body specifically for the stylized, anime look.

I'm sorry this is a very late reply but I have tried that combination (sadly I don't have a minifee girl body anymore so I can't show you pictures), but Sora's head is about the same size as a minifee head and the proportions look fantastic in my opinion! You may need to add some pink to the faceup to match the colors of the body but I LOVE how that hybrid looked!

This is my Sora on a Lati Blue girl body. It is similar to the minifee body, but the legs are longer:

 

Ok one more for today, my SDC Kaede boy on a male Unoa body:


Both the head and body have mellowed quite a bit but the resin match is very nice.

 

I see the lovely Aria Tiny hybrid. Do you think the aria resin will match up well with the volks pureskin white? =/

 

It might, but you may have to blush it (the head) for a better match. New Volks NS (no yellowing) is just a slight touch darker.

 

Actually the one I have in NS. I think a WS body and a WS head would work better. You can also try a Unoa body (but that would require even more blushing). T_T Yellowed WS minifee bodies might work too (I've only seen pictures of Volks WS, but I've seen Unoa and WS fairyland in person).

 

Hi all, was wondering if anyone has ever put a volks msd head on a bluefairy tinyfairy body? hows the mobility? and colour match of the normal skin?

And for the volks msd head on the present kdf girl body? I read above, is the mobility and fit really bad? i dont mind the colour difference, more worried about the head not fitting.

 

Bumping this. I'm thinking about buying a bluefairy blossom body to go with a Volks MSD NS head, so any and all info would be appreciated!

My SDC Miko is on an F-doll body. The resin match is great, and he's super tall.

 

I'm bumping this in hopes of seeing a SDC girl head on a female Asleep Eidolon body. How does the neck fit and how is the resin match?

I would also like to see a SDC girl head on a Bluefairy female body. How is the neck and resin match?

 

Bumping in hopes of seeing some photos of AE bodies and Bluefairy bodies with SDC girl heads. Or some description of the neck and the resin match.

 

I've discovered something amazing! I had given up of ever hybriding Tookie because sunlight is pretty much impossible to find a good match for. Well if the doll hobby teaches you one thing, it's never say never right?

Unfortunately AD will not sell the bodies alone but for me personally, it was an extra $300 well spent to have her on this body. The posing capabilities are fantastic and the design is beautiful if you are looking for a mature look. The color is very close. Tookie is 2 years old and has a faceup so her color may be deeper or lighter than other batches. MSD heads DO look a bit bobbled on this body but for my storyline, it works very nicely. The negatives: the AD body is lighter than the Volks body so you will need to be careful standing the doll (especially since the head is quite heavy compared to the original head that the AD body is designed to support). Overall I'm very happy with this body, but I will retain the Volks MSD body as well because I love the weight and stability of it.

 

Does anyone have a Volks MSD head on the new FDoll 1/4 body? I'm interested to see how it looks. Considering getting it for my Schulze head!

 

I've wanted to try an F-Doll body, but I can't really afford to try out a body that might not work currently.
But I DID borrow my Brothers LUTS boy multi body and stick my SDC Arashi on it to see how it'd fit.



NOTE: The LUTS body has Girl legs on it. (They don't stay in well, and the boys actual legs could be longer/shorter. I only had girl LUTS human legs available.)

Normal skin Arashi on LUTS Realskin Normal body. Obviously the resin doesn't match, but I've heard rumors that VOLKS Pureskin normal matches with LUTS realskin normal.

Personally I think the proportions work well. (Sorry for the horrible photos, I borrowed a camera that absolutely hates anything red apparently.)
Over all the LUTS body is thicker, but it's not bad in my opinion.

 

Bumping this thread to see if anyone has tried a Luts Model Delf body with a Volks head. I want a more mature body for my SDM Shiratori but I am having trouble finding what bodies might work.

I also have an SDC Arashi head on a Dollzone b45-003 body and the fit is pretty good! The neckhole is humongous but it fits fine with some hot glue sueding - actual MSD heads have smaller necks and are much easier in that regard, and SDC girl heads are so tiny they can proportionally work quite well with many mature mini bodies.
