hello, has anyone seen the new merman at stacys pink ocean, they have a 1/6 size and a 4.6 foot long size. I want the big boy sooo bad but over $3000 is crushing, is anyone outhere buying him?
Yeah, he's crazy expensive, but so dang gorgeous! I'm hoping someone buys him and provides lots of owner pics~ The large size is just crazy to think about
I'm still debating on getting him. Not sure if I want the full set or not for the "75 cm" size, more like bigger than a Dollmore Trinity. But layaway is definitely in my future
I've been following the artist's (Moonlit Wonder / Leucosia-Molpe) BJD making process for a while. Because I really wanted to have the big 75cm (138cm!!!) 'Akheilos 2.0' Mermaid fullset. But with the high final price, which shocked me a little, I can't afford the doll, which makes me sad. The small 1/6 (53cm) doll alternative is way too small compared to my other BJD's. That's really too bad.
OH he is so beautiful..so beautiful. does anyone know the longest layaway from this site? even a layaway is crazy and how long does it take to get once he is paid off.? the 1/6 merman is a bit small too he is worth getting if you can afford him. also do you think the clear blue tail would be better? that in its self is $200 extra. poo, poo what can I do.
I've been looking at three different sites. One is Stacy's Pink Ocean, their longest layaway is 6 months but asking for longer doesn't hurt. The only thing I know it's 10% down for 6 month layaway. I'm currently asking if there's a longer layaway plan because I really want the full set but I'll settle for the nude doll if I have to. Not to mention I've been asking in the community and doing some research they are most reputable. Mydollection is 12 months with 30% down. I just can't afford $900 for a down payment on the fullset. But then again over a 12 month period isn't so bad. Not to mention from my research they are helpful and nice but really disorganized, I believe there's a thread on the DoA about horse BJD orders that was crazy disorganized from them. Then there's their taobao store from the company/person that makes the merman. I don't understand any of it and I'm not going to pretend that I do either and I'm not about to get a agent involved just to save a few bucks either. Though I'm tempted to PM the person and ask. I'm still wafting between fullset or nude doll so don't feel bad. As for how long for him to arrive. It looks like it's 5-7 months for production. I'm not sure which site I read that from though but I believe it. I think the tail is up to you. Depends on your character that you're aiming for. So in the end is the transparent tail worth it to you? I'm going for the non-clear tail because I'm cheap and it won't matter for what I have him in mind. He's going to be a summon from Final Fantasy as Lord Leviathan and this is one of his alternative forms. I just find it funny that I live near the beach and I hate going to the beach, that sand gets everywhere..... But once I get this guy, I'm going to the beach just to take photos! I have Garuda and Ifrit that are WIP. Ifrit is the older brother and Garuda is a younger sister. If I could find a 4-6 armed doll then I'll be doomed because that would be Shiva and I'm already eyeing a Souldoll for that build. Oii....
The moment I saw his 75cm version, I was sold. My entire cast that I am waiting for is in that range so when the first dealer that offered him only provided his 53cm self, I could let him go, but when Stacy's Pink Ocean placed his 75cm doll on their site, I could no longer ignore him. But he is just so expensive, dang it! It's almost 3,200 USD and that it not considering his transparant tail. I already asked Stacy's Pink Ocean and they told me the longest layaway they'd accept is still 6 months, unfortunately. If possible, I would not vouch for Mydollection. I recently bought something from them, but I've had to wait for weeks on end for a confirmed tracking number after I paid for shipping. I really had to email them, like, 5 or so times over a period of like a month to remind them of my tracking number. It was nerve wracking. I believe the artist Bonelace will release a doll with 4 arms in the future if you are interested in their work? I also really dig the clear tail, but I couldn't find any information wether or not they would paint the tail if you add that option to the fullset? Would they just leave it unpainted? Or will it become translucent with the paint on top? I've already asked, but to no avail so far. Anyhow, good luck to those who are getting him! Please post pictures when he comes home!
I have been watching the build up of the release on the artist's Instagram account and knew it would be out of my price range (the large 1/3 scale)... and it is and have been waiting for a detailed mature featured/built 1/3 scale mermaid/merman for a long long time. I really hope to see owner pictures though Want to see more photos of posing ability, not just straight lounging/propped up, but sitting, kneeling, or even standing (with a stand aide) tbh.
I was told differently. I got 9 months just now which is fine by me! I'm going with the fullset when I get paid! Maybe because I placed down the preorder that gets the 8% off? Then again I told them I'm going for the 75cm doll later next week and I wasn't sure of which one. Yeah everyone that responded from BJD discord told me that they won't vouch for Mydollection either. I'm just going to stay clear of them unless they are the only ones selling the doll that I want. Ooooooo. Looks promising. I'm going to have to keep tabs on this. Thanks for the information!
That's great news for you! It could indeed be a possibility that they would extend the layaway for those who prepaid. I was extremely busy and missed that announcement unfortunately. Maybe that's why they won't extend their layaway when I asked. Anyhow, congratulations on your future doll! Please post lots of pictures when he arrives for us poor, unfortunate souls?
hi, so I do not know a lot about the doll sites that everyone is mentioning here like stacys, mydollection. is stacys pink ocean the seller of the doll or mydollection? stacys sells other companies dolls for them correct? so who actually is responsable for sending you the doll? who do you contact? sorry to be so lame on this
There wasn't any announcement. I just emailed them about it. I'm super stoked about it. EDIT: Oh you meant the 8% off announcement. Oops I thought it was the layaway thing. My bad No worries we are a friendly community. Both Stacy's Pink Ocean and Mydollection are reps for the artist who makes the merman. The taobao store is the artist directly. The company that sells the doll to you is the one that sends you the doll thus that's the company you contact.
I talked about him with my husband and he convinced me to go for the nude doll with the transparent tail after all because I was worried if I would chip the tail paint. I'm rough on my dolls, I learned this with a Phiel from Souldoll. All his mechanical parts had chipping. Not to mention I would probably wipe off the company faceup for another one. Looking forward to this Friday when I can place him down for layaway!
Two videos with the 75cm / 138cm size doll (basic doll) can now be seen on the Weibo artist page. Wow, the doll with his mermaid tail is really huge! You can see that very well when you see a human hand next to it. Maybe I should stick to the small version after all?!
Holy cow! His fins are enormous! I... don't think there is a doll stand strong enough to support him... Would he need, like, several in order to be displayed? Or does he warant his own display table/case?
WOOOOOWW, after seeing how big the fins are alone lets me realize the price is kinda justified on that size I TRULY want this body---as I missed out on the bust stand that was released last year--- but I gotta think about the realistic possibility with this doll: · Do I have enough space for this body? · Where to store this doll? · Where to display this doll?· How often will I carry this doll around? · Do I have the muscle to carry/restring now? · Will I have said muscle in the far future once I need to restring or carry this doll?· Where would I find things for this body? · a carrier bag? · a stand? · a display cabinet? The thought of trying to restring him alone already makes me have 2nd thoughts, but I would make the sacrifice to my muscles just to wear him around my neck like a scarf ~
Whoa! I'm glad I scrolled down and seen that video. OMG! That's huge! Regardless he's gonna get pre-order this payday! I'm just hoping that when I bring him to the beach that no idiot thinks that A: Mermaid! and B: I'm going to steal him [even though I'm going to take my hubby or a friend or two] He's going into the rolly wagon though. I just hope that he fits Me thinks he would need his own display table/case. I'm really curious now about posability now since that's a lot of resin I was thinking about a carrying bag too. But what would work? I was thinking a paddle bag for a canoe, if that's such a thing. I think the closest stand is a Dollmore Trinity stand for a 105cm doll which he is 138cm and is a full 32cm bigger and that's a most a foot bigger. I don't even want to think about restring this bad boy. Even though I should. I have the muscle strength but I don't have total function of my left wrist for right now. By the time he gets home I should though. Also I love the comment about wearing him like a scarf
I wonder how bendable his tail is? Even if his fins take up a lot of space, he should, theoretically, be able to fit into something like a large duffel bag if his tail pieces aren't very static? I don't think I've found any pictures where the flexibility of his tail is displayed unfortunately.
Stupid question, but was the transparent tail or the default tail (same as skin color) used on the full set of promotional images (shown including face and body make-up)? Somehow I can't see that. And I'm just trying to decide what I'm going to take. Since I'm afraid that I can't handle the huge SD Mermaid version, I'll probably take the small one?! But I still have to think about what I'm going to do. I hope to see more new pictures on the artist Weibo page.
I'm pretty sure it's the non-transparant tail. I've asked a few dealers what would happen if the transparant tail is combined with the blushing from the fullset and generally they said it would be translucent(?) or something, but I have no idea what that would look like. I'm also keeping an eye on the Weibo page. Hopefully they'll show more blushed and unblushed pictures of the doll. Maybe they'll even show what a painted transparant tail looks like?
From the looks of the photos it looks like the solid color of resin and not the transparent tail. Me too! I'm looking forward to more photos from the artist!
@Phoenix-Aeterna & @Haruka Oh, thank you so much for the fast answer! That helps me a lot. More pictures of the doll would be great. Because so far there is no promotional photo for the completely painted SD full set, too. Which surprises me a little. But the Mermaid will hopefully be assembled by the manufacturer, right? Otherwise I'm afraid of putting it together by myself.
All BJDs are assembled that I've brought from the manufacturer, unless it's a garage kit then that's not assembled or someone from the 2nd hand market is saving on shipping and handling. Also I would think it would be noted if it wasn't pre-assembled on the website.
I don't know if you can compare them, but the Angell Studio Mermaid dolls came to my mind: AS Mermaid 01 AS Mermaid 02 Maybe the transparent tail of 'Akheilos 2.0' looks similar?! Just that this one has more body make-up (colors) on it?! Then I am reassured. Suddenly I wasn't quite sure anymore whether that would also be the case with this artist.
Well I just order him on layaway! I didn't expect Stacy's Pink Ocean to email so quickly but until tomorrow. But I found out that shipping isn't going to be added until they get the merman doll in for accurate shipping fees. I'm just hoping that's its not another $500+ on top of the doll but then again if it is it won't really be that much of a surprise either. Does anyone have experience of ordering a doll this tall [120cm/4'5"] with shipping to the US so I know what to expect when the ball ol' resin drops.
The artist posted new pictures on her Weibo page. He's unpainted but the 75cm SD version she is holding him. OMG! He's sooo tall! This is her webpage; 微博
Damn!!! He is so cool and huge I feel like he needs a giant piece of driftwood to lounge on for display rather than a stand I can't wait to see owner photos!
Just a heads up, but the artist recently posted a sped up video where they assembled the big mermaid doll. (The ear fins are apparently clip on?) If my translation software isn't wrong, it apparently took them 3 hours to put him together.
Yeah I seen the video and OMG! I feel sorry for her and yet I ordered one Yup the ears are clip on. I knew that going in which doesn't bother me. Now to see if she makes one with a transparent painted tail! I'm curious to know what's it going to look like
After a long time of consideration, I decided not to buy the Akheilos 2.0 Mermaid doll after all. Unfortunately, the small size does not match my other large SD dolls. He's just too small, and his SD size is way too big (and expensive) for me.
Potential extended deadline: 30th of June Just a heads up but I was talking to Stacy's Pink Ocean about the doll and asking a few logistical questions before even considering getting him and, don't quote me on this, I think they said that the deadline of his sales period has been extended to the end of this month? So, if you are still considering him, there is a chance you could still get him! Just confirm with Stacy's Pink Ocean first, just to be sure. I don't think I can get him either. He's just so expensive... So, I can't double confirm Stacy's Pink Ocean message. But they did tell me that they are expecting to receive the doll about 60 working days after the deadline. That would fall somewhere at the start of September if my calculations are correct.
OMG A custom driftwood stand sounds AMAZING for him. This makes sense-- he's still up on Stacy's page to order! I know she said they were offering 9 and 12 month layaways for the big doll too.
Oh, I didn't know they offered 12 month layaways! When I was talking to them, the longest they were willing to offer was 10 months. It's a good thing you were able to negotiate a longer one!
Ha, I can’t take credit unfortunately. I just asked about layaway options and someone else must have asked for longer layaways because she told me 9 and 12 months were allowed when I first asked. He is pretty pricy so it’s nice they expanded what they offered.
I see. It sure looks like they took notice of people asking for a longer layaway. He is indeed very expensive (and pretty!), but unfortunately, I don't think I can afford him. Can I ask. Are you getting him? From what I've heard, most people are getting his 1/4 body and less people have gotten the big 75cm version. I'm kinda wondering if anyone even went with the fullset of the big doll. According to Stacy's Pink Ocean, that would set you back at least $3,160 and that's not counting the transparant tail or shipping. They surely must have great budgeting skills.
I’m still considering right now. I would get the 75CM version, but I’m not a transparent parts person, so that’s a dodged bullet. He’s about the same cost as a special edition Idealian or Trinity girl, so for how big he is and what they offer, I do understand the price. With the layaway plans, you’re paying roughly the same amount per month as if you were getting a Soom Idealian— just for a lot longer. For me, the big question is “Can I get him second hand later if I want” and I’m not sure he’ll be easy to find later.
Ooh. I'm curious, are you going for the fullset or the blank doll? Huh, I'm not really familiar with these brands, but it seems like these dolls go for a few thousands, like 1.5k ~ 2.5k maybe, from a cursory glance? Yeah, I do understand his price point considering the size, work and effort that went into creating him. It's just in a completely different bracket than the average doll I've seen so far. That might indeed be pretty difficult. From what I've seen, a handful of dealers sell the smaller version (New Clover Singing, Legenddoll, MoonlightBJD, Mydollection, Stacy's Pink Ocean) but only the last three offer the big version. I wouldn't really vouch for the first two and the in stock selection for all three of them seem kinda limited. You'd probably need a healthy dose of luck to snag one up after the pre order period.
I thought about that question too before ordering him. In my personal opinion I highly doubt you'll find him second hand due to his price and size as of right now and if you do see him in the MB the person might sell him for more because not a lot of people ordered him or he might not be the one you're looking for, ie transparent tail or 6cm. On the flip side if you do find him second hand hopefully the shipping will be cheaper? 4'5" tall dolly, yeah Either way good luck deciding!
Hmm, I'm tempted to get the blank doll, so I could customize him, but the fullset looks really amazing too. Soom has a line of 75cm dolls called Idealians! They're really nice. They also release fullsets that are limited-- those go for 2-4K ish. Dollmore also has their trinity line, which are like girls who are 110cm tall. They run like 2.5k ish? That's a really good point! I agree, I don't think he might will show up in the marketplace often, if at all.
I recently checked out the artist's official page and while I used a translation app, I think I got the gist of the message. Sorry for any inconsistencies. I urge you to visit the page yourself to double check. According to the artist, the 75cm mermaid's back fin cannot be supported by the magnet structure (probably) used by his smaller 53cm counter part. Because they're cast in resin and thus solid, in contrast to the 3D printed ones for the smaller mermaid that are hollow, they're too heavy for magnets. So, a complete redesign was apparently neccessary which means the delivery time will be extended. There is no change in shipping time for the 53cm doll. I think he's still expected to arrive somewhere past this September, but there is no delivery time for the big one anymore. Has anyone who has bought the big doll tried to check via their dealers? I didn't get him, so I can't really ask.
I just asked my dealer, Stacy's Pink Ocean. I'll let you guys know. Also since it's October and the 53cm should be shipping out now. Has anyone gotten him yet? I'm dying to see what he looks like. Oh and if people didn't see. She's making a dreaming/sleeping head of the Merman doll! Say has anyone seen the Fatemoons Mermaid? She looks beautiful. She's just a huge as the this Merman! I would like to get her but as far as a character, I wouldn't have a clue as to what I would shell her as! I'll oogle from afar~
I got a reply from Stacy's Pink Ocean. "... We didn't informed about the delivery time because the artist always has so many ideas to create some new things to match the doll.^^She creates a mermaid cloesed eyes heads,so elegant.^^" So I'm guessing that they haven't asked her about the delivery time for the 75cm? It's not the first time I've had to wait a whole year for a doll Oh well, I can wait! I'll bug them again once I pay him off which will be in February of 2024. [Wow, speaking about 2024 already?]
I would love to see the large merman moonlit wonder when someone receives him. I just could not afford him so I would really love to see him. I just bought the DollFamily-A merman but I feel kind of hollow about that. its just not the same...sadness my heart hurts
When I get the 75cm merman from moonlit wonder, I'll try to remember to post his box opening. I just hope the images work on DoA Maybe I'll post a link to my images? I'm also debating on getting a PO BOX because that box is going to be huge. I thought the Doll Family -A merman was handsome. I just hope you're going to be happy with your merman from Doll Family- A when you get him!
YAY I cant wait to see your merman Haruka. I will be waiting. the tail of the DF-A boy is too short but I will try to adjust him. maybe some kind of a spacer?? make his tail longer more visualy appealing ..to me anyway. but I will always want moonlit wonder merman most. maybe later I can find him ..pay crazy high price ..its a dream. thank you so much Haruka
Looks like the Akheilos 2.0 head (optionally with face-up) is now being sold. It comes in three different versions: normal / romantic / sleep. At first glance I don't see any difference between normal and romantic head. Or are the eyelids slightly different? I think the head shown with the mask is the most beautiful. Is that the normal head version?
I think it's the normal version tbh. The other one has more of the eyelids showing. But if I were you I'd just ask the company that's selling him to see which one is which.
Thank you so much for your answer! You're right, I should ask directly and I sent my request to Moonlight BJD. EDIT: @Haruka I got a reply from Moonlight BJD. And you were right. The photo that I think is the most beautiful so far shows the normal head. They confirmed that to me too.
OMG! The artist just got their prototype cast of the 1.4m mermaid according to her weibo page at the beginning of this month! It's a box.... A very large box. My husband looked at that then asked, when? Me thinks I'll need a hand truck for this I kinda of wonder after I'm done with his layaway when is he going to ship so I can prepare. Also for those that are wondering like myself. 75cm it seems the artist recommends to place Akheilos 2.0 head on, or at least that's what she demoed the head on. Especially a Soom or Ringdoll. Ringdoll has 75cm bodies? I thought that they are 70cm. It's also on her Weibo page too.
Even though I unfortunately couldn't afford the large Mermaid doll, I'm very excited to see the owners' later photos. Since I still really want to have an Akheilos, I recently pre-ordered at least a normal Akheilos 2.0 head with face make-up. I can then put it on a Loongsoul body.
I'm curious as well. I didn't order the doll but I did order the merman ear parts and I was told it would take 9 months just for the ears alone.
Whoa, that's a long time. I ordered him but nada. I'm seriously expecting him in 2025 at this point. But hey! I finally paid off the layaway just need the shipping price
@Haruka Yay for paid layaway! And yeah, I imagine the shipping cost will be quite something He do be a hefty boy!
I got an update from Stacy's Pink Ocean. They've asked the artist if the full set can be shipped out in June and they will ask when I will be getting my merman. They will let me know with an update when they get a reply from the artist. Yay for progress!
and yay for the companies that are kind enough to let people know about shipping and other items. some can just leave you guessing. then one day a doll appears on your porch. soooo scary
