[Adopted] Mirodoll Discussion - Part II

One can never have too many dolls..lol. Agreed though that them keeping the sales going is tempting a lot of people I'm sure. Well since the sale is until June 30 I think I'll wait a bit to see if they come up with any other colors before then..then I'll make my huge free shipping order..lol (not really but I think there will be a few in my cart by the end)

 

I'm dying to get a tan 68 cm and a chocolate boy but I need a head first! I was going to get Dollshe's tan and put it on a Chocolate body, but now I'm itching for a Soom tawny hybrid. Now if only the right head would pop up for me...

 

MIro doesn't do a tawny color though. I have a tawny head waiting for a body... tawny was a color I was gently trying ti guide Miro towards. They did the prototype tan, then went a totally different way. Neither the tan nor the burnt sugar will match tawny, BUT maybe they would make the first tan on request. Here is the difference. Old tan on left, new tan on right:

As you can see, the proto tan, which was ditched, is very close to Soom tawny.

 

I like both...but drat I have some tawny soom parts (er I think they are tawny..lol) I could use on the one on the old version, might be worth sending a message.

I love so much both colors, i agree that the tawny looks great anyway

 

I like the tawny waaaaayy better than the new tan. The new tan looks more like Normal Yellow to me.

 

Kitty Blue, those comparison pics of Gang's head on the Miro body have cemented my resolve. That's the exact head and body combo I was mulling over.
I don't suppose anyone has any RS dark chocolate to compare to Miro's dark chocolate...?

 

Sicktress Don't get me wrong, tan is nice color and i like it, still i think that tawny skin is more special

 

The tan now was meant to match with real skin and vivid skin, which Jo's shown it mostly does. If enough of us ask, they might make tawny a permanent option. They're going for what will match with most companies and what will sell. Or, as you pointed out $abbatha, what is special. I'd love to have the generic caramel of DZ, AoD, and several other companies out there cuz it matches the Soom tawny pretty well. Of course, they will match resins if you send a sample and none of Soom's tawnys or bronzes ever match each other. *L* Soom has very inconsistent resin batches even with the same doll. Maybe sending a piece to them for a match would be best..? I need to open the eyes of my human Phonolus head a bit. Not sure those shavings would be enough to send for a tawny match.

I forgot to mention- I bought thetawny prototype 60 cm body, the one in the pics. It's on layaway and the only body they made in that color. If people can be patient (I put in a HUGE order for myself) I can see if that color really does match Soom tawny or not. Though not sure about my ETA on the order...

 

I'll be patient, chalyss! I need to stop buying dolls for a while, anyway.
But the color match thing intrigues me. What if I sent them a headcap? And can they match just one doll to one sample, without having to do a bulk order?

I was also wondering about the chocolate, Dollshe's "tan" looks close to the chocolate, and at first I thought Dollshe's "pale tan" looked a lot like burnt sugar, but now I'm not too sure.

 

Yes and Yes as I understand it. I'm not sure of the fee for this, if there even is one. I asked but then they had the big Mayday holiday, so I haven't gotten an answer. I'll ask again.

That is a question I can't help with. Their dark chocolate looks pretty dark. I think it'd match kind of close to IH's brown. I haven't seen any of the new colors in person yet though.

 

I have RS dark tan, but not the Mirodoll dark chocolate..Yet..lol. I plan on getting one of the girl bodies to use for one of the RS heads, figure if it doesn't match exactly then it would only be the head that needs blushed to match. Kinda waiting to see more colors before I place another order. From some of the pictures I've seen it looks pretty close but until I see it in person you just never know because I have quite a few dark tan dolls and none of them match..lol.

 

Hi! Can anyone tell me what the turnaround time on a Mirodoll order was for them, approximately? Like from ordering to having a doll in their hot little hands? Just curious. Thanks.

 

Mine took about a month but that was because it fell during chinese new year holiday. I think most have been less than a month.

 

Wow, that's pretty awesome, Kitty Blue! I'm thinking of getting a Mirodoll body for a NS Resinsoul Dai head. Your info on RS/Miro hybrids was really helpful.

 

I received my SD girl in WS on Thursday . I took a few photos, but as I'm in the process of moving, her head and clothing are currently packed. I was so surprised to see her arrive. There was no update on the site so it was a nice surprise, and also thankfully my Mom was home to pay the duty. (Ish broke due to moving). So yay! She stood right out of the box! I was very impressed. Once her head is on though, I suspected she won't stand so easily and I shall have to re-string her. But it's a prefect match! So I'm highly pleased!

WillowWren, my first order took two weeks (YES WEEKS!!) and my second took about a month, I was losing my mind waiting since they were so responsive the first time. But I guess this thread has made them more popular (and the hybrid thread).

 

I don't have a Dai head yet but if you want to see the Dan head on the Mirodoll girl body I can take a quick photo the head size is about the same as Dai, Xue which is in my comparison gallery is bigger than the Dai head so the proportions would look a bit different.

hmmm I think I need to add a few more comparisons in, I didn't think to take my 70cm RS heads off and stick them on the Mirodoll bodies I bet the 70cm RS heads would look quite nice on the 68cm boy body.

Regarding colors: i think that if someone needs a certain color the company could make it on request, don't have any idea about the fee Mirodoll would charge anyway
What i would love to see, besides some nice resin colors, would be more heads, heeled feet for girl body and maybe a taller girl body, i know that Mirodoll are lookinbg for a sculptor so it's impossible at the moment for them to do new things, at leat i guess so.
From what i see from Jo pics seems to me that Mirodoll tan is more like a deep yellow than not a real tan, anyway the color is pretty nice

 

I don't have the dark chocolate tan, but my light tan Gang head looks great on the new Mirodoll tan.

The red is a brick red, it wouldn't match with the burnt sugar which from the look of it I've seen is a more of a deep carmel colored tan. They do plan on doing red but it is probably going to be a bright red I would assume from what they have done with their lilac and blue.

Well, even though I had initially planned on getting FantasyDoll Lagina as my first doll, I went ahead and bought Mirodoll Wind as my first instead. I fell in love with her sculpt, and her sale price was just too good to pass up! I am so excited to finally be getting a resin doll -- however, I do have to ask: what size eyes and wig does Wind wear? The site wasn't clear about that, and I just want to make sure I know what to get.

 

I wish that body came with a small bust option. What a deal!

Here is Clover! She has the Mirodoll body and a Resinsoul Lian head. She still fits the body that my Lian originally came with, which was a 68cm body. Her boobs are so big they fit the dress! So exstatic!

 

Grats on your first doll! Wind is a cutie! I believe she takes 18mm eyes and a 9/10 wig, but I do have a Wind head floating around, so I'll double check those numbers for you. Usually Miro ships with eyes already in the heads, so if nothing else, she should come with eyes.

 

Thank you so much! I'm probably going to buy some new eyes -- I really love the metallic ones from Volks -- but I just didn't want to buy the wrong size. I'm trying to decide on colors and styles for her... She was a bit of an impulse buy, so I didn't have a plan in mind when I purchased her. Hopefully I'll have enough time to come up with a plan while I wait for her!

The Miro doll bodies are busty and when I first saw them I wasn't too sure about that. They looked like silicone boobs to me in pics. But when I got my 1/4 bodies I was pleasantly surprised to see that they really were not bad looking boobs in person. I wish there was a bit more of a natural slope to them but honestly they're not badly shaped, just big. They fit very well into a lot of Tonner stuff so they can't be as outsized as I first thought they were. I don't know. Up till how I've never really had a girl doll with bigger boobs but now I have these BJD's with "assets" and I have a Tonner who is also definitely stacked and I kind of like it, finally having a few dolls that actually fill out a sweater really well. I think the Miro bodies are kind of cool actually. The fingers are a little odd but I like the rest a lot. I'd like very much to get a few more and put some RS dolls on there if they do indeed work. I'm really beginning to love the RS heads but I must admit the bodies I've seen so far are kind of lame. I think I'd definitely like to put a NS Dai on one for sure...

PandaBerryinSpace: I stand corrected. She has a 22cm head, the higher end of an 8/9 wig and they send her with 18mm eyes but I'd use 16mm. 18s are all pupil and iris, barely any whites. Good for a child, not for a more mature head.

 

Sorry, chalyss, I only took a couple of quick pics before I packed him away with the rest of my dolls for a big move coming soon. Here's another pic that might help. He's got huge hands!

Personal preference, I do like a more natural bust. But I do really love the athletic musculature of the Mirodoll bodies. That's what's sold me on making a hybrid.

 

I agree -- I like large bust dolls, too, so Wind's body didn't bother me one bit.

I think that's because even though they wound up being very mature looking, they were intended to be young adults to the 60 cm Thunder and Lightning.

I bought two miro heads, #7 and #9 for my bodies. I haven't seen them posted much of anywhere so when they do arrive I will pop them on the bodies and take pics. They're due this week. Just got an email from Miro that they had shipped and wonder of wonders they are actually showing up on the DHL site as having left China so I get to track them across the water this time. They also shipped me a chest piece to replace the chipped one which was very nice.

 

Update from Mirodoll They will eventually be making different bust options for the MSD and SD dolls as well as heads. And they are currently working on the grey didn't say what shade, no photos yet or when it will be available. Also said they will be updating the color options soon to include lilac and blue in the dropdown menus.

 

"Eventually" probably means after their sale is over with, I'll bet. Dang. That's great for later on down the line, though.

 

*LOL* They'll have more sales, I'm sure. They've been running them since Christmas with like... one day in between of no sale. Spring sale, end of Winter sale, New year sale, probably a good-bye to spring hello summer sale in the future...

 

The idea of a bust size option is very exciting! I hope they do that. The shape and proportions of the SD body are lovely. I specifically chose the Mirodoll body to go with the Elfdoll head that is my dream doll face sculpt because I liked their body better than the Elfdoll bodies. The Elfdoll girls have very realistic features, and to me the Elfdoll body looks more stylized and not a great match for the heads, whereas the Mirodoll body seems like a more realistic sculpt (aside from the balloonish breasts!). The same body with a smaller/more realistic bust would be amazing! I just got my SD girl body a couple of days ago, and I absolutely love it, despite the breasts being a little larger than I would have chosen if I'd had options. I was amazed at how fast they got the body to me--- I placed my order on May 2nd and it arrived on Friday the 10th. Overall I'm really pleased and plan to order from them again for sure. I do wish they'd put more and clearer pics of their blank heads up though! There's a head I'm really interested in; I just hope it won't turn out to look very different from the one not very clear picture they have on the site.

 

So, out of curiosity, how well do the bodies pose? Are any modifications necessary/recommended?

 

I think that we have time to get the new colors at discounted prices till end of June, am i wrong?
By the way i think that if Mirodoll would hire a sculptor the company could take a huge step forward, cause their bodies are amazing!

 

PandaBerry: In my opinion, they need some help. For some they pose fine, mine need mods. But by mods I mean the standard: hot glue sueding works WONDERS and you might need some wiring. Nothing any other company doesn't need. The hands and feet are kind of lame, so you might want to get other hands especially or jointed hands. Then you'll need to mod the wrist a bit. The hands and feet are not hooked on but strung on, so quite a few restring and add hooks but it's not completely necessary. The feet ARE big- I think DOD makes hands and feet about the right size but again, you may have to mod the ankles and the wrists; Miro has a proprietary oval socket rather than a round one. But mods are generally light and again, nothing owners don't do for other companies, too.

$abbatha: Yeah, until June 30th. The grey should be ready by then, maybe even other colors.

 

They pose ok. I've hot glue sueded mine and they stand pretty well, but their feet have to be turned in a little. I also restrung them, and they can hold their arms up. No crazy one leg stands or bending at the waist, though.

 

I am asking people to PM ME (not post here, I don't think we can) on the kinds of sculpts you'd like to see for faces. Just something more delicate? Please let me know! IN PMs! Thank you.


OH! and color-matching is a free service for now. And they can remake the tawny color. YAY!! You just have to let them know it's what you want. I'll still be getting the tawny boy body soon. So I can compare to Soom.

 

Besides the knees I like how mine pose just fine, I did a little bit of hot glue sueding, but really just the tightening of the strings did wonders..and like people mentioned not much different than people do for other company sculpts. double jointed knees would be awesome. The hands I'm sure can be reshaped by boiling..I think the only major thing about the hands is that the ball joint part of it sticks out further than most of my other dolls, I think that is what makes them look so huge, at least on the girls but hey can't complain for the price and I dont really mind, if I don't like the way it looks I can always have her wearing wrist cuffs or bracelets or something to hide the joint.

It would be cool for different heads and they will be working on those things, just give it some time..lol.

yea I had the #5 head and its not so bad in person, I really liked her lips, but it just didn't fit my character, though the nose could be modded just a little to not be so sharp and pointed in the profile. The #4 head I believe is Wind, the one that says New Girl head is a nice photo. The #6 has a very strong looking jawline. I know eventually I'd like to get the Wallace. The 1/4 girl head looks nice, not sure about that boy head though I think someone may have ordered both but that is not for this thread..lol. Anyway the lilac and blue or now up as options...I'm really considering something in lilac...but I have a big doll order that I'm contemplating at the moment so I'll be waiting to closer to the end of June to place another Mirodoll order.

has anyone here switched feet for the male body? I hate how big they are and tried to switch his feet with my ResinSoul boy and I don't think it fit in the socket.

 

The #6 head DOES have a very strong jawline--- that's the one I want to get, and that's actually why. I liked it because I haven't seen very many girl's heads with a more square face shape, so it seemed unique in that respect, and would be perfect for a character I'd like to do eventually. I haven't found a single owner picture of it though... only the one shot on Mirodoll's site.
