Miracledoll Discussion Thread

    1. I love MiracleDoll. T_T They always surprise me with their new dolls. He looks amazing already!

    2. @Xila

I think Capitan is only one of their artists because only some of MiracleDoll’s sculpts show up on it. I’ve been waiting to see the final photos of this guy since his master was posted before Arachne, the serpents, and even the new female body!

    3. I love how interesting and unique so many of their sculpts are.

    4. @Iron_Dog

I really do like how distinct they look, and I like how varied and adventurous they are with their sculpts, but gosh darn it! I want one that looks like this for sale now! :XD:

    5. I'm not 100% sold on the openness of the mouth but he's gorgeous and I love the horns. I must repeat the mantra of no more dolls, no more dolls...

    6. I think my inclination would be to carve out the teeth and make a more 3D removable part. I have a thing with teeth.

It’s like adding LEDs to sneakers for children. The LEDs don’t really improve the function of the shoe, but suddenly they’re amazing! Something about teeth tricks my brain into thinking the sculpt is more creative or fresh (even though at my house it’d be anything but because the vast majority of my dolls have teeth).

I also really like the chest joint

Another appealing part for me is there’s room for realistic fangs that appear that they’re actually rooted in the jaw instead of stuck to the lower lip.

Of course there’s still the chance I won’t like the sculpt and my Narae vampire doesn’t need a friend...:sweat

    7. He looks like he's probably a larger guy and right now I'm rocking the sweet-spot of 50-ish cm as my favs. Not to say I can't be swayed to bringing another taller dude home... but I need to know who he is before I can click buy. House Rule that I doggedly stick to. But damn, he's pretty.

      Lestat Adult Ver

Do you think this means there’s a child version or it’s just a mistranslation?

    9. They had another sculpt with Vampire teeth called Lestat (I have one lol) that was limited
It has a younger, less realistic face in comparison to that one.

    10. Hello! I'm just popping by to ask if someone could please post some pictures of the mature Baiye neck hole.

I'm considering bringing one home and I'm dead set on a particular body but the neck is 11cm. The neck size for Baiye is 10cm, so I'm aware I'll have to mod this to work, but I'd like to see how the back of the head tapers down and how much space I have to play with.

I've had a Jing in the past and his head tapered considerably at the back with only a small space between the neck hole and where the chin ends.

I'm considering removing the entire tapered part and rebuilding the area to accommodate a larger neck. I know that Miracledoll SD male heads are on the large side (well Jing was anyway) so I'm looking at a 71cm body which should work based on all the measurements I've been collating.

ETA I've found what I've been looking for and the body I wanted won't work unfortunately, but I've found something else more suitable and not too much different.

    11. Has anyone had any luck finding jointed hands for the 68cm boy body?

    12. Uh... Dumb question - what way does Miracle Doll's NS tend? Pinky or yellowy?

(Their 65cm female body is probably next up on my WTB list for a floating head of mine - which itself tends towards pink - but I can always blush the difference when the time comes but knowing one way or the other will help with the decision between NS or WS, and the game of musical heads/bodies that my current group are playing lol)

    13. @Vetinari Their NS is very yellow. I can make a comparison picture with dollshe oriental skin or Soom NS, if you want.

    14. Ooh thank you, that's useful to know. (Hrmm picking up a WS body and playing musical heads again might be the way to go then...)

A comparison with oriental skin would be amazing thanks! (I've got several oriental skin dolls here, and the *other* 65cm female body I'm contemplating swapping over plans for is itself a very rich nearly tan normal yellow.)

    15. @Vetinari You're welcome! Here is the picture of Miracledoll NS (the head back) with dollshe oriental (the piece of resin in my hand):

    16. Thank you! You've been incredibly helpful - that comparison shot makes the Oriental skin look damned near like Fresh skin next to the Miracle doll NS; which... yep... definitely time to rethink the skintone/which headsculpt I want the Miracle doll 65cm girl body for!

    17. @Vetinari You're very welcome! Yep, it's a very dark NS (and so yellow!)...

    18. Dang, I was hoping the color would be a bit lighter for resin matching, although it seems like it would be nice if I keep my girl together.

Has anyone ordered after Fall of last year and gotten their doll in what seems like a normal time? I ordered Melanie back in November, and she has yet to arrive at the dealer. I was told that she hasn’t shipped because of the artist having trouble getting reliable shipping, but I’m wondering if the delay is because Miracle Doll wants to ship a certain amount of dolls together, or if they really are taking 9+ months to ship. I’m wondering if maybe I can offer to pay for the shipping to the dealer just to see if it rushes things along.

    19. I've been having trouble getting things shipped from China to the US lately. A couple of small things I've ordered from Taobao went back to the seller twice before finally making it into the country. I have Chinese relatives and recently in the family group chat they were talking about something that literally translates into the US and China "spitting blood" at each other over trade, so maybe that's related? I'm not exactly sure what they were talking about, other than the trade tensions between the US and China. I thought that the tariff war stuff was mostly over with, but I really don't know. In the past it's always required jumping through hoops for people in China to send us things, apparently it's not so bad if you do it infrequently because then you can just go to a friend or some acquaintance who works for a company who has a contract with an international courier and pay them a fee under the table for them to arrange the shipment as though their company was shipping it, but if you need to regularly ship internationally I'd imagine you'd need to establish those contracts for yourself and it's not the easiest for individuals to do. I don't know how big MD is, I get the impression that they're very small, so maybe that's the struggle?

      Just spitballing here. :\

    20. Ugh, that would make sense. What a pain in the butt. I haven’t had any trouble getting my tiny electronics from Aliexpress on time, so I wouldn’t have thought about it, but that would possibly affect the shipping of a single person studio if they didn’t have contacts to help them. :/ When my finances restabilize, I’ll have to ask about paying for extra shipping to hurry it along.

    21. Which dealer are you getting her from? I was also considering getting Melanie as well since I heard their turnover is relatively fast but more than 5 months to ship to the US is... worrying (I'm thinking of moving next year) since I'm considering ordering her through Alice Collection. If the shipping situation is dire I might ask my family in Vietnam to like... receive the delivery but then I don't trust delivery there either :sweat

Oh you mean the trade war bad blood? Yeah, that is still going on (even more "enforced" now) and the US trying to withdraw from the international post association (the one that regulates shipping and international deliveries and stuff) from last fall definitely makes it... more difficult and pricier for people to ship stuff around ever since for no reason.

    22. I ordered from BJDivas. I hope she shows up soon, but super before the new tariffs hit.
Jimminy, shipping really just keeps going up already, things are going to just become prohibitively expensive for me.

    23. My Adult Lestat just shipped! Hopefully this means other people’s orders will come in soon!

    24. @americanseamstress Ayy- congratulations!

No word on my adult Baiye yet, but it's great to know someone is getting something. I can't wait for some pictures- Adult Lestat is full of character.

    25. Sea Hedgehog on Instagram: “Any recommendations for removing magnets glued in with superglue? The magnets for this guy aren’t strong enough to hold his horns…”

Here's an unboxing photo of MiracleDoll Lestat Adult Ver. I already did part of the elf ear --> human ear mod on him since one of his ears was chipped in transit (the boxes are a really strong almost wood/particle board like carboard and I think it's the only thing that saved him from being totally shattered; the ear was the only casualty). The sanding will come after the Magic Sculpt to patch the broken ear hardens.

Does anyone know how to remove magnets that have been glued in?

The magnets in the horns aren't strong enough to hold them to the head, and even switching out those that go inside the head to neodymium magnets isn't sufficient, so I will need to swap out them both. I have the magnets in an acetone bath now, and may freeze them tonight, but I wanted to see if anyone else had suggestions.

    26. Has anyone ordered one of the 65 cm girls? I'm curious about the body's poseability and how you like it. I'm tempted to buy one for a floating head. I wish the company pics weren't so zoomed in and censored, I'd like to evaluate the whole sculpt.

    27. Bumping this last comment! I saw the 65cm girl body and I'm really curious, not much to find when searching for it.

    28. I received my Melanie a couple of weeks ago. I’ve been so tired, I haven’t done much with her. I’ll get a few pictures after work, much later tonight. It does seem like a pretty good body.

      • x 1
    29. Looking forward to that! :love

    30. I finally got a few photos took, and I put what I have on Flickr, which the photo should link to. Some pictures are the body with my Sio2 head, so you can see what it looks like with a much bigger noggin. My opinion is that the body looks pretty, poses ok. Since my dolls only need to sit and look pretty, it is fine for them.

    31. Thank you Pandy this was very helpful! :D

    32. You’re welcome! If you’d like to know anything specific about the body, just ask.

    33. Yes thank you! I wonder one more thing, is this the version 2 or 3? I noticed that had a third version that looks seams new, it's on the news page on AC. :)

    34. This is version 2. That version 3 looks very fancy though!

    35. Yes it does, but I wonder if anyone have it yet, don't think so. I'm so curious to see hybrids with it :3nodding:

    36. Doubtful. MiracleDoll’s wait time is around 4 months, and it’s only been on Alice’s for 3 weeks (and Taobao for 2 weeks)

    37. @Pandy the body is lovely! I've been waiting to see owner photos and I really like how it's sculpted :)
It does not seem very dark yellow like someone mentioned a few pages before. How would you compare it to the Sio2 NS in real life? I'm aware that not everything shows up in photos properly.

    38. I’d have to compare it at some point during the day. In the yellow light of my home at night, the Sio2 NS head looked a little lighter, but manageable with blushing. It’s certainly a hybrid I would consider when I do eventually give my girls faceups. Fortunately, I have tomorrow off, so I’ll stop and take a peek out in natural light.

    39. Is anybody getting the new limited demon cat doll?

    40. I'm getting a head actually :) I couldn't justify the full doll as much as I wanted it.

    41. Nice! I am considering the body, but it is a large amount of money and considering the circumstances would be a pretty risky purchase. I am not sure when jobs/work will be back to normal.

I might end up sitting on it for so long that I miss the chance haha!

    42. I have her on long layaway (odered her in grey skin with the "outfit") <3

    43. I like the cat/monster body but it's female and I don't collect female dolls so I'm safe. Not a big fan of the toothyness of the head either. If there was a non-snarling version there may have been a problem with keeping my finger off the buy button. My wallet is weeping tears of joy at that.

    44. I'm actually planning on putting the head on a Dreamvalley 71cm boy body since it has the right neck size and is pretty good in general for the head. I honestly feel it'd make a great boy. It could also work nice on the 60cm female body from dream valley :)

    45. Does anybody know if the monster cat head can work on a dollzone 1/3 male body? I'm tempted to buy the entire fullset but thats expensive.

    46. Most I'd suggest is the 63 or 68cm bodies with some modifications to the neck since the necks are slightly too big. I would honestly look more at the 63cm male body from dollzone since we can look at the female body as a guideline on how good the head might fit. Since its a smaller type of head I'd look for smaller shoulder width.

I would look at Dream Valley 71cm male body. If you are open for suggestions. its a 9 cm neck with a reasonable shoulder size. Its compatible to the 63cm Dollzone male body. Its basically a bit taller though.

    47. Miracledoll latest dolls are wonderful! But I miss some older mold, like baiye (the original 40cm version) and the Chihuo. I'm so sad I didn't had the money to buy at least their head when they were stopped two years ago!

Here's my Baiye, BTW. I also have a Lestat (the original head, not the adult one), but he still has no body.

    48. I drag myself back to say... that Allie is now five.

*fireworks, stock children yelling "yay" sound effect, etc.*

I've ordered him one of those resinsoul "yi" bodies for him knowing full well I'd need to mod the neck, but the big dilemma for me is his face-up. His sealant has yellowed considerably--he has a small chip in it and the resin beneath that is pristine and naturally mellowed a bit, but OH BOY this sealant is grungetacular. What did they USE? (It's JUST visible in this picture, but trust me--it's really not great.)

I'm coming to grips with the fact that I might have to wipe it (which is super sad given how in love I am with his default) and am going to have to spend a LOT of time psyching myself up for it. Why's it gotta be this way orz

      • x 5
    49. @Kaninchen ,I'm in exactly the same place with my Jing! The faceup is so chipped and grungy that I just HAVE to wipe it soon, but I love it.... :( I'm hoping to take a lot of pics in natural light before I wipe it. It's my own work, but I have yet to do another faceup that I like as much!

      • x 1
    50. @Xila there needs to be some kind of support group for faceups that really need wiping but you're super attached to, it's one of the most anxiety-inducing things in the hobby. I have LESS trouble with lopping off parts of a doll than I do wiping face-ups!

I'd bite the bullet and get him done now just so the nerves go away, but I'd like to wait until his body comes so I can blush it at the same time. ): That's going to be at max about four months from now... so I get to enjoy(?) his faceup and turn over how to do his next one in my mind 'til then.

    51. One of my guys (OT for this thread) needs to be re-painted and he has full tiger-striping over his entire body. He's my favourite and he's been played with a LOT. Despite how careful I've been, it has been 12 years. But because Moswen is my favourite and I need to send him out to be painted, I feel a little anxious about doing that.

      • x 2
    52. @Kaninchen same here, I'm not positive about the body either! Do you have sealant? Maybe a gentle clean and a few new coats of sealant will help preserve the faceup for another few months.

Having to send a doll away would be stressful for me!! I'm glad I enjoy doing my own blush work

Miracle has put out some super cool full dolls lately! Not my thing, unfortunately, but I'm happy to see the take these interesting new turns.

      • x 2
    53. @Xila I have sealant, but it's his existing sealant that's the problem. Aside from the two small chips, everything's fine--the sealant has just yellowed very poorly. So he'll be OK with it for now, it's just a little bit of an eyesore tone wise. (I've also seen what they've been putting out and MAN if I didn't already have two other layaways going I'd have sprung immediately to put down another for that seemingly OT 1/4 rabbit. Now THAT'S what I call a bunny!)

@Iron_Dog I couldn't imagine thinking of redoing a job like that. I'm overly careful and nervous with my one dyed and painted doll, and he has nothing in the vicinity of all-over stripes. :shudder

    54. Moswen and his son, Jaiseki (AoD Min), have the most body blush work of my guys although Jaiseki's is a LOT less. Dakvir (Doll Love God-Enjoy boy) is dyed blackest black and he'd held up really well (and is not sealed in any way). Mkhai (Impl Miguel the Demon Hunter) has the most time consuming and delicate work as I've metal leafed him in gold, silver and copper (that took 36 hours).

      Apparently I enjoy a challenge.

    55. Hello I’m Interested in getting Miracle dolls new limited BJD the crazy rabbit and would like to hear some general feedback on the brand Miracle doll in general. Any reply would be helpful both pros and cons would be much appreciated to help me decide on whether to purchase.

    56. I only bought a blank head years ago through Cover Singing, but it arrived very well-packaged! I have no complaints :)

    57. Really considering getting Crazy Rabbit myself... Just stuck on if I should get black resin or grey.

    58. Tough choice on the resin colour. I'm heavily addicted to grey resin (I have 12 grey dolls) and I have an awful weakness for black resin (I have 2 black, 1 resin & 1 dyed). Black is the more rare colour if that helps any.

      • x 1
    59. @Iron_Dog lol I was thinking black for sure, since last year my own black rabbit passed away. Though I worry the details may be shrouded because of the color? idk, I dont have much experience with black resin. How do you like yours?

EDIT: I caved and got him in black.

    60. Yea! & congrats @crappyshappyshaw

The black resin doll I have is Skerren, an Akhmel Nathan, and he is genuinely black. Dakvir is a white Doll-Love God-Enjoy boy that was dyed black but when you see him in strong sunlight, because of the nature of black dye, you'll see undertones of bronze-brown to him. Skerren, on the other hand, is black no matter the lighting.

Black resin/dyed dolls are a pain in the butt to photograph well. Details are difficult to pick out unless there's a really strong light source and shadows can play havoc with getting details to show up. I cannot speak for how face-ups go on black resin as neither of them have one nor will either of them ever have one. When people see Dak they actually don't notice that he doesn't have a face-up. He does have wickedly long eyelashes though. Nobody thinks anything of Skerren's face either but it's decidedly NOT human so that's probably a factor there.
