Miracledoll Discussion Thread

Ahhhh, my order has been placed! I didn't see a waiting room, so I'll just have to scream about it here.

I'm sure it's been asked, but I searched and skimmed and didn't find it: Is there an estimated wait time for Miracledoll? Clover-singing.com says 2 months, but that appears to be a relatively standard message they put on all the dolls.

Anyone want to share what their wait time was, if they remember?

 

My mini Baiye head took almost exactly two months.

 

I've had a similar experience to Kimchi. It's usually about a 2 month wait with Clover Singing for Miracle Dolls.

Hi everyone, I need your help …
I was wondering if anyone had Long head? I’m trying to figure out what eyes size would be more suitable for him. It is said on MD site that he need 16 mm, but my Lestat wears 10mm eyes, Chihuo – 10 or 16/5mm eyes, so I have some doubts about it…
I'm thinking of getting 14mm Enchanted Doll eyes with the narrow iris (6,2) and low dome, what do you think of it?

 

@No_comment, I think 14mm with small irises are a safe bet. Long's eyes look pretty small. If you don't want to spend a lot of money to try, you could always buy cheap glass eyes to try first.

 

So I bit the bullet and bought the Vic version 2 head. I had wanted the original but he's impossible to find. But yay for close enough! XD

@Xila The head is for my old OC, Kojikomaro/Edward Lecter (a girl despite her name). She's a demon wolf and crazy scientst who's a bit of a Mary Sue story-wise, but she means a lot to me hahaa. So she'll have ears and a tail, and I'll be doing some sort of hybrid body with possibly Soom Chrom or Wolf legs for her as well. :3

 

I bought Vic ver 2 too I am a bit sad about his nose shape changing so much. Ver 1 was a masterpiece. But, the eyes seem improved

 

Vic 2.0 is super cute! I like the new eye size/shape. Congrats to everyone who's snagging one. And here's Vic 1.0 since I don't post him very much.

I'm really new to bjds and I just bought the Jing head!! I'm super excited for it but a quick question to anyone that owns it! Are those little points on the brow ridge tiny horns? If so, that would be really cool!!
I'm painting a mock run for him right now and it would look much cooler than i initially thought if that's the case o:

I've never owned bjds before and my orders haven't even arrived tbh so I hope im not asking dumb questions ahhhh

I think the points can be whatever you'd like them to be, honestly- I have seen them painted to resemble horn nubs!

Personally, I was considering modding them to look like actual horns, or buying small horns and setting up some sort of magnet system! At least at first, anyway. My direction for him has changed a bit since then.

In terms of what they literally are: I think they're just smooth bumps. I don't have mine either, though, so I'm not positive!

Do you have any plans for your Jing Head o: There's been so many neat ideas here for this sculpt and I feel like I'm going the super plain cop out route with mine haha. Instead of aiming for realistic, I wanted to aim for like an inhuman robotic feel because it's also clean and (hopefully) easy haha

 

@BoneLace I so adore your mockup!!! Not at all too ambitious, I think-- your mods should be totally feasible with some milliput or other sculpting clay That hint of red in the eyeliner is a really nice touch, and I love what you did with the eye-split-line-things!

I did purchase through clover-singing (which is Jeeryama's personal site), but I've never done so before, so I dunno! We'll see Christina says my order should be ready this month!

I've done a few mockups, but nothing I'm super fond of. Just about everything in my mind for him is up in the air-- I'm even confused about the eyes I've already bought for him, lol. The only thing I know is that I want his face pretty natural-- so, no fantasy faceup for me.

What body are you going to use for your Jing? I'm having a body struggle, which I've elaborated on in a much-longer-than-necessary fashion, lol:

The only other thing I know about my Jing is that his body is going to have a 4-arm mod As for how I'm gonna do it... no idea! I've never modded before, either, and I'm also relatively new to this hobby! I'm going to rely on looking through previous project threads, and dumb luck, I think...

...Aaaand yup, that's up-in-the-air, too.
The body I have for him (an April Story Senior Boy) is a nice body (I bought it for those hands and feet, and its ability to draw its knees so close to the chest!) but... it stands like a newborn baby, unfortunately, and standing ability is important to me.

I'm away at college, without the doll, so I was hoping I'd be able to suede and fiddle with the doll (later!) to improve its standing ability. Recently, however, April Story announced they're discontinuing their senior doll line.
So, I'm like... great. Even if I do decide to keep this body for him, getting a second torso and arms is probably going to be a pain in the butt.
Speaking of that-- I just shot April Story an email to see about that. I think my ability to get the parts I need will determine whether or not this body is staying.
I'll hop over to the April Story thread to see if my standing issue is an April Story Thing or a My Doll Thing...

Anyway, I'm also looking at other bodies. I want the head to look relatively proportional to the body, though, so finding a body that has a good shoulder width, a tall height, AND the poseability I want has proven tricky. (Also: it needs a large chest piece that will fit another pair of arms, cannot be too muscular, and needs nice hands and feet-- though if I can find replacements, i'm ok with it...)
The april story (66 cm tall without head, 15.7cm shoulder width) seemed to have all them, but if it's gonna be a boob, then I don't need it

I've recently found myself liking the newest Doll Chateau adult body (72 cm with head, 16cm shoulder)
It's like a more realistic version of the A-body-04/03, which I love, but wasn't sure if it would work (Shoulder width of 14cm, and possibly too lithe for such a big head-- still, I know there are Jings out there on this body! Wish I could find some right now.)

...I'm only concerned that the torso piece would be too small (and is too... muscularly-defined?) to look ok with (and be structurally sound with) a second pair of arms. Especially since the torso piece dips upwards in the back...

It's too new to have any owner pics or reviews, so now I'm just waiting.

@BoneLace I plan to make her (yes, it's a she) like a magical spirit: something soft-looking but with bold colors, maybe golden lips? I'm not sure until I have the head in my hands.

@Xila Aaah the body problem... I had that one until very recently (and still have it a little). There's a body I love but there's no way that it could fit the head correctly without looking funny to me. But I found the 5SD 70cm girl body and I was like "that one is the ONE"(even if it's single-jointed) But then I found it hard to find 65+cm female bodies....I still have to save for her body and until then her realm's guard (my other doll) will take care of her
For the second set of arms, maybe trying the second hand market will help and the project journal section has several four arms mod projects presented. I will try to prop my Jing head on my other doll's body for size reference when the head comes home.

For me, since the Jing head seems to have become an Aesthetic head instead of anything I'd use to model art stuff for, I think i'd go with the 04 body from doll chateau? I love their bodies and sculpts in general! But I guess I dont really have anything that I would use them for if I can't model with them but this is kind of turning into an Aesthetic thing instead of anything useful haha. I dont like the other adult bodies as much because the anatomy goes a little too unbalanced for my tastes. i'm totally wavering on that though!

uHhHhhHhHh ringdoll RGMbody03 has a 15.5 cm shoulder and a 31.5 cm chest. IDK if it helps but my first doll order was for a ringdoll fullset haha.

Because the mock up I did was with a normal body but I did a second mock up though o: I wanna be able to look at both and maybe sketch both builds a bit before I really make a decision but! Here's kind of what i generally want? There's probably gonna be more than just yes add extra eyes on the chest too but LOL I haven't come up with it yet. (i hope he doll nudity is alright??) I haven't actually measured though to see how big it'll actually be,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,>.>;;;;;; im not v. smart ok

I went to mail you some info about putting Jing's head on other bodies, but now you've got me rethinking my whole life, lol. A 22cm head + A-body-04 works a lot better than I remember it! Here's a 21-22cm head on one. Here's a Soom Dia (23cm head) with the extra neck joint.

Ringdolls are so pretty! Too muscular for this doll, but maybe someday!

Oh, and: That's all any of my dolls are to me, really. Just Aesthetic playing around. No shame in that, imo I still have fun with them! I enjoy the creation process, and not necessarily the story-building.

I think that looks right, given what I found about hybrids!
Booooo, why did I remember this hybrid not working??? This is probably my favorite body out there! Dang brain!

EDIT: OH here's a tidbit I just remembered: a 10cm neck hole + 8? cm neck = huge neck gap. Some people mod this, there's tutorials around for how to do it! Maybe that's what I'm thinking of...?


As for measurement: I'm confused, too! I think they typically mean point of the shoulder to point of the shoulder, but... Honestly, I think all companies measure slightly differently. One Of Those Things.

Yeah i think this head needs a more delicate body *v* It's got a really nicely soft aesthetic going on and i adore that.

A friend of mine said that you could just do epoxy or something and paint + sand it down to get the neck gap to hide a little more? o: I dunno how feasible it is though!

Hah, just kidding, I think the way you measured the shoulders the first time was right! I don't think 22/23 cm shouldn't be tooooo big of a difference, especially since we're talking total head circumference. So, I'd say your original measurement was best!

And, yup! The extra pieces can be removed as you'd like.

The only problem some people run into is that the a-body-03 neck piece for the extra joint is different from that of the base piece. The top joint is shaped like a normal neck, while the piece connected to the torso has that ball joint thing on the end.

Jing's head hole is so huge, though, I'm not even sure if it'll be a problem. If it is, though, all it would do is limit poseability in the neck.

For what it's worth (Because it's 7am and I can't remember which one this conversation was originally about, haha) A-body-04 and a-body-03 are effectively the same, but the a-body-04 doesn't have the extra neck joint, and isn't designed to support one. As such, the neck part on the torso is shaped like a normal neck.

I'm still torn about which version of the body i'd get. My gut instinct is that the neck joint is a no-go, so the 04 is the more logical choice... but I want the option, dang it.

Your friend sounds right! Here is one way of doing it. You can also mod the neck itself. Totally feasible mods, in either case!

Haha, it seems like I'm forever inspo hunting! That's a good point, though: I don't have any set inspirations for this head. hmm. Maybe I ought to find some! It doesn't help that my ideas for this doll (character/origin wise) have changed so many times, and so drastically.

Here's a more recent mock-up of the face. As much as this design breaks everything I thought I knew about myself (EX, I knew I didn't like pupil-less eyes, or eyes that didn't all match...) I think if anyone can pull it off, it's this head. Black hair is my most likely go-to, but he does also have a white-blonde wig bought for him.



...Ignoring that I didn't bother to fix that grimy, grey-ish skin at all, haha. I love working with color in skin, but not at that particular moment His skin tone will probably have a decent amount of red in it in order to help bring out the green eyes.

I feel like i've tried everything and a half with these eyebrows. No eyebrows, eyebrows close to the center (like yours, BoneLace), eyebrows closer to the sides of the head, long brows, short brows, thick brows, thin brows... So, no promises that these brows will stay.

The only thing this picture really shows is the eyes I bought for him: 2 pairs of Safrin Doll fantasy metallic, and one pair of Ersa Flora in this really bright shiny yellow-green. I hope the irises aren't actually so large in-doll, but I'd rather set myself up to be pleasantly surprised than disappointed, lol.

I think i'd rather get the 03 just because the extra neck joint would fuck me up if i got literally any other doll head for that body too haha If you look at the other DC heads, theyre all kind of weird which is why they work so well with DC bodies! At least that's what I think haha

I think if you get a WS + white hair though it would be equally striking! I was thinking mine would have some kind of v. clear cut part white hair in the back.

I think I was running with the dot eyebrows first before I realized that they dont really work and had to mod into what i had now haha

I love seeing all the ideas people have for this head.
I've been planing to get this head for ages, and I'm an aggressive image searcher, so I feel like i'm in the "Seen enough to know what I don't want" phase of planning... Of course, that doesn't help me much in the "wondering what I DO want" phase.
Speaking of cool Jings, this person has one of my favorites! It's on a modified A-body-0-something (The 04, but with the neck embossing)

I think you're right about the 03/04 debate-- going for the more straightforward neck seems like a good option.

I got the reply from mismantisbjd !! And they were kind enough to take some photos of their jing + limited body 04!! I think it looks a little weird from the side because of how thin the body is and as theyve mentioned, the neck gap is a little huge but It seems like it should be fine?? :0c
Here's a photoshopped copy with a shorter neck though!

Also actually I was on the fence about the body for a bit bc of how thin the profile was but now that I see your favorite hybrid I think it looks just fine o: I think i'm gonna go and grab that after I get the head! (next year though!!! I promised myself only 1 doll a year or less!!!!)

So I bought two Ruiying heads. I couldn't decide between white and tan, so I took the advice of the Old El Paso taco girl and decided on both. xD

 

@BoneLace YAY! You're very skilled at photo editing, btw. All of my own photo-edited mockups are very sloppy! The combo looks pretty good, I think! That Jing head looks like White Skin?

I'm in the same boat about needing to put the A-Body on hold, though, too. (Oh, April Story did write me back: Can't sell me just parts! Oh well, good excuse to get that body And it means my Jing can have a body to hang out on in the meantime.)

I find Jing really fun to draw! Haven't done it since around the time of my initial mockups, but his face is very swoopy and fun. The rhythms in his face make a lot more sense than I initially thought they would.

The WS will be really nice for my mockup just because I think it'll make a great contrast with all the black I want? I managed to buy a bottle of the world's blackest (acrylic) paint so I'll see how it goes!

I think I'll get a bust stand in the meantime though! I dont have a lot of room at my apartment so a bust stand is probably for the best so I dont get too many dolls at once haha

I think the jing head and the DC body though have been really challenging for me! I havent seriously tried to paint/sketch them but just from a few initial attempts, the anatomy has been really challenging since I cant just assume that I know how it's going to look, I have to keep going back to check the product photos on how it'll actually look o:

I've done mostly written notes for this doll/character, so far. It's the fastest method for me to hash things out!

 

Hi everyone! I was told by a friend that you guys were talking about Jing head on A-03 body and I can tell you I have the very hybrid and it works quite well imo. Keep in mind there is gapping, but I don't mind it too much at least. If you'd like some specific pictures, I'm happy to provide~

By the way, I want to put my Vic 2.0 head on a DF-H 62cm male body. I think i might have seen it before with Vic the original, but I don't know, will it work? On that hybrid they said it was DF-H 65cm but I dont think such a body exists. B)

@mincy - I think someone has him on an AOD body?? I haven't seen DF-H, personally. Mine's on a Gem of Doll body (which is around that same 62-63 range). Their YNS matches nicely with Miracle Doll's NS.

Is that the extra neck joint next to him? Does the head fit ok with the neck joint removed, or do you think it might have been easier to get the body without the neck joint, to begin with? I'm still debating between A-body-04 and A-body-03.

I received Vic2 in the mail today! I also own the first version, so I thought I should post some comparison photos. I was very interested in seeing what was changed in the second version so maybe some of you will be too.

My Vic1 is in tan resin, and has an amateur faceup done by myself (I'm sorry if it's painful to look at) so it's a little difficult to compare them.

I think the most obvious difference is his eyes are smaller and a different shape, and his nose a a little larger and more rounded overall, it might also be slightly wider. I think his teeth and mouth look the same, if anything they're a little more refined. I'm sorry for the low quality pictures and they help anyone who was curious!

 

Wow, haven't seen many tan Miracle dolls around! I just received my Tan Ruiying head and I would love to know where you got your tan body for your Vic, @Konjyouyaki?

 

I'm also interested in this question. I'm also waiting for a tan Ruiying, as well as a WS Ruiying head. When did you order your head @~carrot!? I have a tan DZ doll so I can take pictures when my heads get in. Not sure when that'll be though.

 

@Cloudedmind I ordered him back in November. I had loongsoul's B-B62-02 body in mind for him since it's the measurements are perfect for my Ruiying!

Here he is! Gosh, he's cute and he has this peachy mellow apricot color to him!

 

@~carrot! That's a nice body. I also like the Dollzone B60-005 body which is similar in style to the loongsoul body.

 

I'm very sorry for the late reply!! I'm sorry this may be a little disappointing but I got a body colour matched by Mirodoll. The body is a little too dark and a little too red as well, so I had to blush it a lot!

I think if you have the option to I recommend buying a miracle doll body so the resin will definitely match!

By the way I'm very happy to see a tan miracle doll owner!! This is the first one I've seen online He's very nice and I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with him!

 

Sorry to hear the color match didn't go as planned. I was really looking at Loongsoul's body because I'm not really a fan of Miracledoll's body. Plus, Loongsoul apparently offers a resin matching service as well.

Did you send a head cap to Mirodoll to use their resin matching service?

So hey! My beautiful dude is here! I can smell nothing but packing tape adhesive and pure glory right now. He looks like Dollits Miso from far away haha . Kind of.
Guess I'll be learning to sew soon! I am very happy. I stuck him on a Doll Family H 62cm body by the way. Good times, good times. I was asking about that before but yeah, it worked out alright. I think he looks decent! Perfect? Why, perhaps not, mademoiselle or monsieur and I know not enough French to be gender neutral, but neither am I.
Those pretty eyes came with the head too, I'm not sure if that gift is from Stacy's Pink Ocean or MiracleDoll itself, but heeey, I love them! I'll probably be futzing around with him for a while and have more photos. Where should I post them?

I'm getting so antsy for my Vic2 head! I contacted Stacy about it and she said they had just shipped out all the WS ones and the NS ones were next to be shipped, and that somehow I was last on the NS list? Didn't think I ordered that late but whatever.

@Konjyouyaki Ooooh thank you for the comparison between 1 and 2! I was debating if I'd have to mod 2's eyes to be wider, and I think I might... It says he fits 14mm eyes, but the eyes look really small/narrow compared to 1? What size is your 2 wearing?

Has anyone ever had an EMS package get held up for 9 days? Stacy's Pink Ocean shipped out my two Ruiying heads, on June 19th, and according to USPS tracking they've been sitting somewhere in Shanghai China ever since.

 

@Cloudedmind , my tracking stopped working somewhere in China, too. Unfortunate, since I paid for tracking, but my head popped up again once it hit the states. Maybe it's just not updating?

 

@Xila Generally I would think that could be the case, but my EMS packages have always arrived in 4 to 5 days. I'm in the USA, and really close to LAX customs.

 

Have you tried different tracking websites? I use 17track.net right now and it seems to grab responses from both the end country and the origin country so maybe one of their logs will be more useful.

 

@BoneLace I checked usps.com for the US side, and airship.com for China ems tracking. I just checked my tracking on the site you suggested, and it's saying the same thing as the other two. "CHINA, SHANGHAI EMS, Processed Through Facility, Your item has been processed through a facility in SHANGHAI EMS, CHINA at 10:09 pm on June 19, 2017." At this point I'm just mildly concerned. I've had non-ems packages get hung up, but ems has usually been pretty good for me.

 

So my two Ruiying heads finally showed up. It looks like the hold up may have been because they were opened and inspected by US customs. I got the nice tape on my box telling me as such, and one of the boxes that a head came in was also opened.

Anyway one of the heads I bought is tan, and I compared it to my tan Dollzone doll. The match is really good, there is a slight difference which I couldn't really pick up in pictures. The Miracle Doll tan has a bit of a beige undertone compared to Dollzone, but I think depending on the face up you'd hardly tell the difference. Here's the pictures, Tan Comparison.
