Miracledoll Discussion Thread

Dec 23, 2013

    1. Hopefully they will see the interest! I like the head too but like you @KittyFields I have waaayy too many floating heads (I recently bought a Float World head and couldn’t stop chuckling about how appropriate the name is for my collection.)

    2. I have a Surprise! floating head. Impl sent me a head as a gift and he's gorgeous. I don't have any plans (yet) for him so he's living in a drawer for now. I try not to look at random heads because the temptation is strong and I am weak. So very weak.

    3. So, I got the new 68cm body today, and I have to say I'm disappointed. I love the sculpting, but don't care for the way the joints are made. The biggest disappointment being the mobility thigh joint. It might as well not exist. Because the thigh mobility joint isn't the same shape all the way around trying to get the thigh to actually swivel at that joint is very difficult. It basically can't do a normal one leg crossed over the other seated pose. The closest I can get it to do that is if I dislocate the leg at the knee joint, but even then the body doesn't want to sit up just fall backwards.

The other problem for me at least is the elbow joints have locks on them which has them lock into place when in a completely straight position. So, what that means is if you want to bend the elbows you have to unlock the elbows first which requires pulling them out of the sock on either end before you can bend them. The arms also don't hold poses outside of straight, 90 degrees, and completely bent.

Looks like I'm going to have to take this body apart and take a Dremel and jewelers saw to it just so the mobility joint and elbow joints will work better.

    4. @Cloudedmind Aw that is so incredibly disappointing!! I'm so sorry. After all that wait and money spent and you're really going to have to alter it that much?? How awful. I look forward to seeing your progress on the fixes. Do you have any pictures of the body right now?
Also, I'm glad you gave this review. I was planning on getting it, but I think I'll go for the 72cm instead, and make my boy much taller but more posable. I'm going to wait for an event to order him; the extra $80 for tan is going to hurt my wallet as is.

Welp I just put that new beautiful muscular body on loooooong layaway for one of my floating heads. Fingers crossed it's a good poser.

    5. @Thymeseer I'd be weary of the 72cm body as well, and unfortunately the new muscle girl body since they both appear to have the same mobility joint design. The front of the mobility joint is lower then the back of the joint. Most mobility joints are just straight cuts across the upper thigh and it looks like for good reason.

Edited to add: @Thymeseer Here's a video to show the joint in action.

    6. That is worrisome about the elbow joints, hope they can be fixed! I put the 68 cm female muscle body on order in NS hoping for the best resin match wise. While I never do much with the thigh mobility joints on my dolls, limited pose range arm joints can be such a deal breaker.

I will wait until I receive this body and if I find it fit for shelling the character I have in mind, I will try to pair it with a SartoriaJ head.

    7. Speaking of the new muscle girl body, somehow the front curve of the thigh joint seems less curvier to me, maybe it functions a little better than the video above. Granted that a clean straight cut would be ideal.

And here you can see that it doesn't bend back anymore when crossing legs, though somehow it has a little wonky pose and you still have to engage the mobility joint.

    8. Interestingly, one of the dealers for Miracledoll made a post about the new muscle body that states that it will have multiple limited order periods, that this is the first of those limited order periods, and that future order periods will have a price increase and not include the free gift hands/feet included in this order period. This isn't the first time Miracle Doll has sold dolls via this method of multiple limited ordering periods, so I guess I am not too surprised.

I can afford a new layaway right now, but honestly it would be better if I didn't start one now, so I think I will pass on the muscle body until its next order period, even though I love the body.

    9. Ideally, I should be able to just shave/sand down the little locks, and then hopefully with some swede or kips it will help with them keeping poses.

Yeah, I'll be interested in seeing what everyone thinks once the new muscle girl body ships.

    10. @Cloudedmind You are a saint for posting that video! Thank you so much! I have more than one doll with that weirdly useless mobility joint. I'm more worried about the elbows!

I have to do Miracle Doll at this point because it's the only tan that closely matches Ringdoll, in an aesthetic that's good for my character.

    11. @Thymeseer You're welcome. I figured a video would do better then me trying to explain my way through several pictures.

    12. I received my new 68cm body and I'm confused as to why the neck seems bigger than 10cm making my Ruiying head look a bit bobble-headed when the company photos show the head sitting naturally on a body with the same neck measurements.

      • x 1
    13. @~carrot! The neck on the new 68cm body flares out at the top to get that 10cm circumference. But, the mid point of the neck is a bit thinner. That might be why the head looks a bit bobble-headed as the neck isn't the same size all the way through.

    14. Do you mean the female body? How is the body? I was pretty interested in getting it, but I have the same issue for the neck so I wasn't sure! I wanted to put a Switch HuisaD on it

    15. I have the new male body and Cloudedmind posted a video of how it poses.

This is how the Ruiying head looks on the body. Sorry for the doll nudity and the headcap. I was practicing painting eyebrows lol!

    16. @~carrot! So, I've thinned out the very top of the neck on my body because it was a bit to thick for the head I'm using for it. I also happen to have a Ruiying head that I can try on the body. I'll get a picture for you to see if the head fits better with a thinner neck top.

    17. Thanks!

    18. @~carrot! Here are some pictures, Ruiyang & Edria on MD 68cm body.

After doing a comparison between my Edria head, the head I got this body for, and Ruiyang's head, I believe the reason the head doesn't feel like it fits as well is because the depth of it's neck hole is a bit more shallow then my Edria head.

The head almost looks like it's just kind of floating on top of the neck compared to Edria. And I've gotten this same phenomenon with other bodies I've put the head on which is why I've been having a hard time deciding what I body I want. It wasn't until now that I thought to compare his heck hole with another dolls.

The solution would be to deepen the hole some with a Dremel tool and sanding bit. I might actually try that.

    19. I mentioned this on the muscle female body thread but thought I would add here also: Miracle Doll is still selling the 68cm female muscle body, past the stated limited ordering period. Alice at acbjd spoke to them and ordered the body for me on 4/28.

    20. Anyone know if miracle doll pink or white is a match for switch rosy white?

    21. I'm sorry I don't have switch rosy white so I don't know. Miracle doll white is slightly pink though.

Here is my Miao on Maoyou body! I removed the tails because I'd like to make some fluffy ones.

Widened his neck hole a bit and it looks like it sits a little different.

    23. @~carrot! It definitely looks like it fits better.

    24. Thanks! Taking a dremel to his neck hole for the first time was a nerve racking experience!

    25. Sorry to spam with more pictures, but I decided to widen the neck hole some more and it fits much much better!

No doll nudity this time lol!

    26. @~carrot! Oh wow you really widened it. Does an S hook still fit inside fine?

    27. @Cloudedmind No. I'm going to have to re-sculpt an s-hook hole.

    28. I got the muscle 72cm in a while back and I had to the modify my hybrid as well. I mostly sanded down the neck instead though.

@RebelViva Miracledoll posted a comparison photo on their weibo. Just have to do a bit of scrolling. I used Google translate and she said it overall a good match, switch is just a tad pink.

    29. @momochu thank you so much for confirming I really appreciate it! I will check out their weibo

    30. @~carrot! Good luck, hopefully it goes well.

    31. My grey skin Zhi Shen finally arrived earlier this week! I looooove the look of the body, but she will not stand without ankle support or sueding in the ankle joint to keep it from rolling inwards. I would also recommend some sueding in the top lip of her thigh joint because she is very top heavy ( all those muscles lol). I used some insulating tape to make her more stable and she's standing now instead of collapsing immediately. Still, make sure you have support for her, she's heavy heh. I love how boyish her face is. Her head is a bit teeny so I'm just gonna let her have a lot of hair to help balance it out.

    32. I don't remember if I said it somewhere, but there is one way to fixing that ankle issue at least in NS colour dolls, although just sueding is easier: this muscle body fits Soom id68 female feet perfectly, and the NS resin was a near exact match with miracle doll's yellow NS. The very brief moment I had my Miracledoll body for, I put Soom's feet on her, and she stood like a rock.

Here was my girl with Soom feet:

Though still, sueding may be easier, because I don't think Soom is in the habit of selling parts separately, and the ID68 ladies themselves are quite a rare release. I was lucky to have an extra ID68 body who only used her heel feet at the time, so I would definitely have done this hybrid if I had kept this doll. (Triple-hybrid, yay! It's a SartoriaJ Vittoria head, which I no longer also own, like the Miracledoll and Soom bodies. Oof, I feel like I got rid of half of my collection, but at least I kept some nice reference photos!)

    33. Hello,

Wondering if anyone knows the difference between Miracle doll Normal and Normal pink

      • x 1
    34. I just got Akash back from the artist/modder, Dr. Krow, and I'm beyond pleased with how he turned out. He's a 108cm Snake Demon head on an Angell Studio Qingyi body. Dr. Krow did a small neck mod to make the head sit better on the body, blushed the head to match the body and did the awesome face-up. I need to style his wig a bit to pull it back from his face more and paint the embossed wings on his body but I wanted to share in his gloriousness. And yes, those are real feathers at the corners of his eyes.

Akash is from my Divine Worship World and is the Elder God of Air & Sky, Breathe of Life, Shield of Heaven.

    35. My Zhi Shen is turning out to be a fan of bubblegum pink :whee: Still working on what to do for clothes while showing off her amazing muscles. I probably need the size 8 wig for her (this is a size 7 and needs just a tad more space). I wasn't sure for her faceup and her eyes but it goes with this wig, so I'm gonna stick with it for now, may adjust a bit later. I think I want to add a donut to her neck so her head has more movement down and to the sides.

    36. Anyone bought or buying the 75cm Uncle body from Miracle Doll? I haven't seen many owner pics even on Weibo (but I don't have an account so can't really deep dive).

But I am liking what I am seeing so far, just would like to see it next to other 75cm dolls.

    37. I finally put Zhi Shen into some clothes, yaaay. Still need to make clothing alterations and I need to give her pink nails, blushing for those abs and a neck donut. Desperately needs a neck donut lol but I'm proud of getting her to where she can actually go outside, yay!

I need to make her a warrior costume now haha.

    38. What does Miracle Doll's tan resin look like? After seeing the news post about the 68cm muscle body I think Zhi Shen would be great for a certain character, but I need to know about the tan before I get my hopes up

      • x 1
    39. @Yumeko-chan I remember hearing that Miracle Doll tan changed last year? I think it is close to the lighter color of SOOM tawny but... I can't remember where I read this information. My Vic v.2 head is in tan from 2017, and that was close to the tan of the imported tan from companies like DF-H and Dikadoll had.

    40. The tan I have is a couple of years old, but it's a close match to Luts Light Tan, with Light Tan being a bit more yellow toned.

    41. My Ian came in today. He's gonna become the new Ilya!
He came with rubber washers in his hips so he actually stands really well. Got the pointed tiptoe feet and extra eyes I wasn't expecting either.

      Spoiler because large images.

    42. hi,hi,
I just bought a miracle doll mochuu octopus torso from shiro kamiya and he is beautiful.
supposed to be soom ns match.
I can not find a good head for him yet because he has a 13cm neck.
a 12.5 works fine on the neck but I think he might need a little larger neck like 13cm.
what company heads are that large in the neck?
also has anyone seen the torso blushed before?
I cant find any info on it.
I do not have instagram either.
looks like miracle doll makes a lot of pretty dolls from your info and pics here on this thread

    43. Does anyone have any insight with the Miracle Doll 72cm Muscle Boy Body? I'm considering it for an artist head I've got incoming. One is close to 2021 Soom normal and the other is similar to SNG white/rosy white. Any idea if Miracle Doll would make a decent match? I wasn't able to find anything recent on color-matching or anything so hoping someone here would know.

    44. @YOUKAIMOON Smaller sculptors I find have larger neck holes like Yi Cen or Leesbjd. I really like hybriding, but it can mean compromising. However, I think choosing specifically on neck circumference would be too limiting on sculpts. What I usually do is to find a similar head circumference 8-9 or 9-10 depending on your preference of proportion. Yes, you may end up having to modify the neck/head but its just a way of compromising.

@DemonMiko I have a white one with a Luts head on it. Luts and Switch have that pinkish undertone so I'm thinking it will be fine... The body is leaning more yellow, but I think it is still an acceptable range. I added the head cap photo just incase the face blush was distracting haha. Flash is on for photos. *I also wanted to mention that the neck is modified to help fit the head.

    45. Thank you for the white skin comparison! I'm sure underneath clothing it wouldn't be too noticeable anyway, but just didn't want it to look like he put on foundation without blending properly XD

Out of curiosity, what size head/neck is your boy roughly?

    46. @DemonMiko Normally, it would have been 10.5 since it is a SDF65 head. The head was already modified to fit a 12.5 neck. Couldn't stretch the neck hole anymore so I sanded the 13 Miracle neck down. Neck was too long for the head too. If your head hole is not as shallow, you should not have to shorten too much.

@YOUKAIMOON Remembered another company that makes 13 neck compatible heads that are more accessible: Luts Grand Senior Delf.

    47. Would anybody here know if the current Miracledoll tan matches closer to deep DF-H imported tan still, or are they closer to the lighter SOOM tawny tan that's popular to cast in now?

    48. @YOUKAIMOON if you’re looking for a company that resin matches Soom ns, Alice’s confirmed for me recently that DF-H, DF-A, Dika Doll, POPO Doll all have it as an option. And I know that at least Dika Doll and DF-H have bodies with a 13cm neck. Maybe one of those heads might work? Otherwise a lot of artist heads seem to be cast in Soom normal.

    49. Thank you soooo much for the info DemonMiko I will check it out now.

    50. thank you, thank you for the info momochu,
      that body is pretty too:love

    51. Could anyone point me in the direction of full body photos of the Miracle Doll 72cm Muscle Boy Body? I'm having trouble finding anything that isn't the heavily blushed and posed company photos. I just want to know what the body lines look like from the front, side, and back.

    52. I'm curious what Miracle Doll production times are like these days, please.

Also, I'd love to see more Miracle Doll NS resin and tan resin comparisons with other makes, like Dollshe. Thank you!

    53. I ordered a Miracle Doll in April and still no word.

    54. I'm sorry. Is this usual?

    55. No idea it’s my first. Just a body.

    56. Thank you very much for your feedback, nonetheless.
That's a long waiting period, considering it goes past Paypal's 6 month claim window.

    57. Lots of dolls take more than 6 months these days! I just got a wig after 7 months.

    58. Yeah, you're right about that. It's not a great trend, because it leaves customers without recourse, if the company doesn't deliver the product.
