I'm curious if there are any "thicker" 1/4 dolls that could potentially wear 1/3 shirts/skirts and such without it looking too ridiculously oversized. I bought a bunch of cute clothes sized for dollfie dream/smart doll, back when I thought I was going to be getting a secondhand smart doll, but that fell through and I honestly would prefer to stick to collecting mostly MSDs and only have 2 SDs, but the clothes I have don't fit the style of either of those two. I was thinking something like MYOU's Anime dolls, but I would prefer a body that's less childish and has a more proportional upper torso. Anyone have any ideas/recommendations? http://www.acbjd.com/images/myou/myou_bodyanime40g_02.jpg
If you are ok with a really curvy girl there is the lovely 1/4th dolls from Of Butterflies and Things here is link to the etsy shop Of Butterflies and Things by OfButterfliesNThings on Etsy They offer 3 different plus sized girls in two sizes 1/3rd and 1/4th. The 1/4th girls due to being curvy can wear some SD sized stuff. A friend of mine has one of the SD girls, and it's a very nice doll, and unique to see a plus size doll. So that's my idea for a MSD that could use some SD clothing. Good luck.
By "more proportional upper torso" do you mean more mature? The MYOU bodies look pretty proportional to me... I find that any similar chubby anime doll (Imomodoll, Shoushoudoll, DF-H's chubby bodies, Puyoo doll, etc.) will technically fit into slim 1/3 girl shorts/skirts, but they usually seem to fit a little weird and need to be rolled up. Even super thick minis (Like the Of Butterflies and Things girls) only fit into SD clothes in specific styles, so it's difficult to give a suggestion that will definitely fit into SD clothes.
I have a Baby Delf and a Dear SD - they're chunkier MSD size - but not mature. I could take some picturees of them in some of my SD-sized clothes, if you like...? Teddy
My big baby wears some SD items. Mine is a Luts Baby Delf though, so more genderless and not a mature body. Big thing is that sleeve and pant legs are a lot shorter. This is mine in an SD top. It's a sweater dress by M+V Studio in standard DD size. Or here I have her (left) in a Dollmore SD top, TTYA jeans in SD13 size (these are actually too big at the waist), and standard msd shoes (that can also fit smaller SD). This scale is called Big Baby because they're popular to make them look like small children. Personally I dress even my "childlike" body much more modern. In fact, here's a Luts Baby Delf compared to a Myou BB. And here they are again with clothes for comparison (none of these clothes are SD though). So certain SD things can fit. Some may need to be modified. Big Babies have a lot smaller shoulders than an SD, so anything that relies on the shoulders may not look good. I can't find a picture of it at the moment, but I once tried to put this top on my big baby and the shoulders were too huge; it looked awful.
I do have a custom made mature 1/4 doll that fits SD clothes widthwise, but I don't recommend it for a doll that isn't childish or cartoonishly proportioned. Unless the clothes are things like plain dresses, skirts and t-shirts, all of the details on 1/3 clothes - buttons, collars, pockets, cuffs, frills, bows, etc. - look clownishly large when the head is scaled down to 1/4. One of the larger Big Baby sized dolls with a 1/3 sized head would get away with it much better.
I'm thinking of something with more anime proportions, similar to the MYOU doll in the photo I posted, but I'm hoping to find something similar that's more mature-looking
My thicker dolls can sometimes fit into SD clothes as "oversized" clothes. Still cute and a definite money saver.
