plasticnoodles- Your girl is fantastic! I love her skin color, her tattoo, and her face-ups. Is the closed eyed face-up inspired by El Dia de los Muertos, by any chance? Did you color and paint her yourself?

 

More spam. Cause I wont be sending Harmony out for another couple weeks......But I thought ill just use this wig that I didn't like at first for Harmony to cover her scratch >.< But I thought it was cute and made her look a little more modern, So.......here is Reck and Harmony goin to the clubb ;D

She was dyed in liquid RIT a month or so ago. I was SO nervous free-handing that Calavera face - every time I touched the brush down I thought "for sure THIS will be the line that ruins the whole thing!" - but I'm tickled with how it came out!

Thank you! Yes, the sleeping face is definitely meant to look like the stylized paintings of sugar skulls from Mexico.. I can't wait for the end of October, I want to make a bunch of calaveras and photograph her with them.

Yeah I did keep her. Glad I did too. Though im really sad about having to take her apart to get rid of the staining. That's the second pair of pants I've gotten from MonstroDesigns that have stained my doll =[

 

Stinks! Would a pair of leggings fit under them to protect her?

 

I dont have any leggings atm haha. But the pants are pretty fitting so idk...But I washed them more than I had before and I think it's gonna be ok for use...I just have to remember not to leave my girls in them.

 

You can also rinse them in cold water and then add vinegar 1:1 which should help set the color. You can also wash it with a color catcher sheet until it comes out white. Wasteful yes, but so is staining an expensive doll!

Utsumi- I just have to say I love the work of Frida Kahlo. So many artists create beauty through an idealized figure. In her portraits, she makes herself more stereotypically "ugly", but the beauty of her emotions and her style still shine through.

Whoa! plasticnoodles, your girl has one heck of an impressive face up! That had to be incredibly time consuming! She looks ready for Dia de los Muertos. The blue color came out nice, it's a really pretty color.

 

If you photographed her by candlelight I think that would give her pretty effect. ^^

She's one of my favorite artists. Her paintings are so detailed and expressive of her emotions. She uses such vivid colors and her paintings are so creative. I once found a store which was selling a small portrait of her. I was so tempted to buy it.

I'm thinking about buying another girl but I'm not exactly sure what I'm looking for. I think my Miyu needs another girl to play with, though I should buy a body for the Luka head I've been keeping for a while. I'm not sure whether I should make it a boy or a girl. Though Luka's make such cute girls!

 

I have a random question that I think someone here might be able to answer. When buying a minifee a la cart and selecting the SP head...does that mean you get the open eyed head AND the SP head, or just the SP head?

 

missimissi: That means you get the sleeping head in addition to the regular one. Otherwise it'd be really silly for you to have to pay extra to still only get the one head! ^.~

 

OMG! I just thought the sleeping head cost extra! I had no idea I was ordering two heads! THAT'S SO AWESOME! Sorry...I'm really excited now XD

^^ no problem! It is a bit confusing since they dont really explain that aside from saying its an option, but it is additional. It'd be pretty silly (and kind of a ripoff lol) if they charged you 30$ extra just so you could have a head with closed eyes instead of open ones....and eyes XD

Cricket got some new Dollmore clothes last week, and I love how this outfit looks on him. He looks so smooth and laid back especially in the shirt.

Hee, thanks Inverinate! Cricket was getting a bit jealous that I was buying Plum a lot, so I added some things for him too. I thought I had bought him some pants, but turns out I removed them from my list later. >_> He can wear shorts for a while, he looks so good in shorts!

oh and also, would an unoa faceplate be able to work on an mnf body what about an unoa faceplate and back?

 

Haileebobailee: Personally, I think a Rheia with the right faceup, wig, ect would be best for Kairi And I'm not sure if a Unoa headback works on other bodies, but I know that the ones you can buy on the market place work! From what I remember, MNF and Unoa have a pretty good resin match.

Also, while I'm saying Rheia because you posted a picture of Kairi from the second one, if you were gunna go for younger Kairi I'd have to say Soo or Ryeon~

Thank you! She needs a TON of tattoos before she can really call herself a tattoo artist, but I figured I'll work on them kinda slow. I had to string her back together a few weeks ago to make a pattern and since I still have two more patterns to make from her in the near future, it'll have to wait. I'm also building her a Tattoo shop out of one of those MyGeneration doll cabinets.

 

Haileebobailee- Hmm...for Kairi, my personal choices would be: Soo, Miyu, Luka or Rheia.
As far as the Unoa faceplate on a Mnf body, I believe the resin match is VERY good (I will be able to tell you dead on for sure in a few days~), but as far as the faceplate going on the body, it needs SOMETHING to hold the faceplate on. You don't necessarily have to get the stock one, because as far as I know there's a seller here on DOA who sells their own made Unoa headbacks, and they're actually really good. Personally, if I were to ever do a Unoa hybrid, hands down I would do it with a Minifee body.

@ Hailee - I'd probably say... C-Line Lishe or Ino. MNF head-wise... Shushu or Chiwoo.

 

@Hailee: Personally I'd go with Woosoo or Chiwoo girl for Kairi. >> They have very similar noses and round faces.

Hailee, I think for Kairi I would have to say Shushu or Miyu...she doesn't seem like a Rheia girl to me, but with the right faceup, I could be wrong. I dunno, something about the wide, sweet eyes on a Shushu says Kairi to me...

I'm looking for a slightly bustier than normal body but with a young looking face with wide eyes. I checked dollfairyland.com and I like the Soo face model in the Mini Fees but its not the body type that i want. Any ideas?

I just bought a MNF Dark Elf Soo head from Finnish BJD forum \o/ I can't wait for it to arrive! Now I just hope that Fairyland would ship the A-line body I ordered as quickly as possible because soon I will have two heads waiting for that body x3 Ryeon will have to share the same body with Des for a while. I'm not sure if I'll get another A-line body for my Des or if I'll make a hybrid :p
