Minifee MNF Discussion thread Part 12

Hello all, long time no see! o:

I've been hard at work at Uni and unfortunately have had very little time for dolls, and even less money to spend on them. I've been lurking the threads on and off over the year, unable to really contribute, however when Uni called for photography, Bethney was automatically decided on as my model.

Unfortunately, I can not so you any of my own photography at this point, as it's all on film waiting to be developed. But here are some snaps that my friend took with my her digital camera at one of our photo shoots that I had fun cropping and adjusting for an hour or so. Bethney gladly answers to the call for Chloe spam back on page 8. x3

You'll notice the lake behind Bethney. I have mixed feelings for this lake, for it is a wonderful back drop but... at one point, just as I was about to take a beautiful shot with all of my film SLR camera settings finally right... Bethney decided to fall backwards almost to her uncertain death. x_x; I'm not sure how deep this man-made lake is actually, but it's murky enough that you can't see the bottom from the side.

Needless to say I dropped my camera without thought (which luckily merely fell into my lap) and grabbed at Bethney like my life depended on it. I managed to get her just in the nick of time, with only a small area of her wig and headdress getting wet. I don't think my irl friends have ever seen me move that fast. XD
It was quite a scare and a half.

 

Oh poor Emmy! At least both Bethney and your camera are safe! That would have been pretty awful to have your girl fall into the lake, how terrifying!

Yes, and they're pretty rare, so seeing another Marcia makes me really happy every time!

Thanks! I got his sleeping head blank to play around with. I'm thinking of doing it up as a girl just to see what a girl Rix would look like.

 

I admit I was looking at it. He's very boyish looking but not so terribly girly as some MSD boys are. I'm sure his sleeping head will make a great girl though, do spam us with what ever you come up with.

Wow before I was only seeing a couple Marcias, I didn't realize so many people actually had her! And here I was thinking that she wasn't a popular sculpt for some reason. I must admit that I don't like the FL pictures of her at all. After seeing all the owner pics, I really do like her sculpt ^.^

I hesitated about it at first because it's darker than the wigs Wed usually wears, I almost sold it but now I'm getting used to it, haha.

Goodbye- Wednesday's wig is awesome though The style looks really nice, like the curls at the bottom ^_^

 

I may be lynched for this... Marcia's are one of my least favorite sculpts; she just looks so mean and alien to me... maybe someone has some Marcia spam that looks soft and sweet or even a little sad? Marcia fans: Please don't kill me!
BTW, I would LOVE to see some more Karsh Girl spam!!!

I have to admit I'm not a huge fan of Marcias either... they do have a sort of severe look about them. I really admire what Snow's done with her Marcias, though. I think the faceups she's given them really brings out the fantasy feel in their sculpt.

well if I ever get Natalie D: She'll have a softer sweeter faceup.. I know it can be done. I love Marcia

 

I think a lot of it is the eyebrows. :> I have seen a few "angry" sculpts end up looking quite sympathetic when they have different eyebrows.

 

Pandy; Yes, yes, I was so terrified, when I first pulled her back towards me, I didn't know how much of her had actually hit the water, I was terrified for her beautiful faceup. x^x;


Just out of curiosity, how strong are FL's default faceups usually, anyways? What would have happened if she had indeed been submerged in lake water? This question is open to anyone. o3o


Pinkpaws; Thanks, and yes it is so lovely. I adore both this dress as well as another teal & pink dress I had made up for her by ATsuri at the beginning of the year.She is an amazing seamstress.

Pannytheangel; Naw, thank you. C: As i stated above, her outfit is the lovely work of the very talented ATsuri. I would have so many more outfits for Bethney if only I had the money to burn. XD
Looking between Sheldon and Lien really makes me appreciate how a faceup can change the entire look of a doll. They obviously have very different personalities, it's great to see such a difference. Lien is the most ambitious/outgoing/smirky Luka I have ever seen. o3o


akaStarla; Juno is stunning! I adore her eye shadow, and eyebrows and lips and and and those eyes are the perfect addition to the look. -cough- Excuse me while I spaz out a little. She's a real Jem.

My two cents about Marcia is that originally I heavily disliked the sculpt, then at one point there was a Marcia head on the market place that had an adorable innocent looking fantasy faceup that imminently made me consider her for my next planned doll, Evelyn. So I grew some liking to Marcia but in the end I decided against the choice of her for my character who is not likely to be a modded Woosoo, one day.
I do think her eyes look a bit too alien-y for my liking anyways. Yet, I do love to see other people doing great things with this sculpt, like Snow's beautiful fantasy girls, as has already been mentioned. Also, your Marica, SoraSoul looks incredibly sweet in that last photo.

 

on related to Emma's question about default faceup. just wondering how easy or hard to clean or edit a bit off their default faceup.

Thanks lovely! I love your Chloe too, Chloe looks ace with pink hair. I'm so happy with how Juno's eyes turned out, I knew I wanted her to have one blue and one green eye but I didn't want it to be too OH HAI THAR!

I can't comment on how durable FL defaults are as I've never had one, but it isn't that easy to change some parts of a default face-up. For example, if you wanted to change the lips then you would have to shield the rest of the face-up when making the changes as certain parts are glossed.

Emmy I'm glad Bethney didn't fall, that must have been so scary oxo I'd never trust myself with my lot near somewhere like that (especially Finnian, I swear. He has some kind of undying love for the ground or something)
Also for Faceups they're fine don't worry about it. You can get them wet and they'll be just fine. I've removed a default faceup by FL before and it took me 2 days of scrubbing to get it all off xD
I wish I could say the same for my own attempts orz

About the default faceup; I bought one of my Marcia's with it and it took half an hour to scrub it all off. It's very, very sturdy.
Any faceup that has been sealed with MSC can withstand water though ^^

 

Hey Snow have you opened up your two dreaming Marcias eyes a tiny bit at all? I see some pictures of others where the eyes look almost closed but others that seem more open. Just curious

There is a Marcia sitting under my stairs in a box. Unopened. It's killing me!!!
I'm not allowed to open her until my birthday next month and I do believe the dreaming head was purchased with a faceup... does anyone out there have default dreaming Marcia? I don't believe I've seen many.

Oh that's exiting! I haven't seen many dreaming defaults, no :c
But it's funny you mention the eyes, because I was looking at them the other day and something just seemed off xD I thought Morwen's eyes might have been modded, but after close inspection it's just the way I did the faceup. Morwen's eyeliner is more in a curve, while Kordelia's eyeliner follows the eyelid directly so it's straight. So Morwen's look a bit more curved xD
I guess they seem more closed because the eyelid stands out to the front a lot, so any picture that is taken a little from the top almost completely makes the eye disappear.

 

I think having extra heads makes it hard not to eventually get them bodies, especially when a sleeping head gets it's own personality!

Yeah, the wig is beautiful but messing up the curls worries me so I always handle her extra carefully when she's wearing that wig.

What I like about Rena is how young she looks, makes me really want to get one. I love her little lips. She kinda reminds me of Volks dolls.

She's beautiful, I love her wig. And her faceup is really pretty. The blushing perfect, not too much but visible enough.

 

My boy's body is at the post office. Somehow missed it yesterday, so I have to wait til Monday to get him. He'll be naked and wigless though, but is already grumping for spam. Let's get some boy spam in here!

Yay! I am excited! I have uni holidays for the next two weeks, and being broke means I will have LOTS of time for dolly photos!
And my grandma gave me a bag of old clothes to look through, and see if there was anything I wanted, and I found a gorgeous chiffon shirt, its that cool fabric that changes colours, and its gold and purple. I have a funny feeling all my girls are going to get pretty dresses! Nyne especially, she doesn't have ANY dresses, and definitely needs one!

Also, I need advice - I want to get another MNF. Either a boy Luka (for Nyne XD) or a Chloe (also for Nyne XD) I want both in eventuality, and I can't work out who I should get first?
