Sewing Minifee jeans pattern

      Hello!

Here's a free pattern and instructions for minifee sized jeans made by me. These jeans fit old minifee A line girls. Renewal A line can wear them, but they are a little tight around hips and a little loose around waist - you might want to add a couple of millimeters extra to every front and back piece around the hip area. I can't guarantee fit for M or F lines, I don't have those to try but I'd guess these will fit them. They also fit Withdoll girls.

You can download the pattern at my Dropbox folder: Patterns. The pattern is for personal use only. I also ask that you do not share the pattern elsewhere. It should print out in A4 size, but there's both cm and inch scale so you can make sure your size is right.

The instructions might be hard to follow - I'm not a native speaker so my sewing vocabulary is probably horrendous. Please correct me if there's something ridiculous in there! There are photos of the process on my Instagram mista_isilme, but it's a lot of work to publish them here by using just a phone so I won't be doing that, sorry!

Cut all pieces out of fabric as instructed in the pattern. I recommend using a thinner fabric for pocket linings. You can also leave out the pockets; in that case, cut along the dotted line and leave out pockets, pocket linings and coin pocket and jump right to point 4.

      1. Sew pocket linings to front parts, snip notches in the seam allowance. Hem the back and coin pockets at the side that will be left open. Sew upper back parts to back parts.

      2. Sew coin pocket to one of the pockets: turn the visible side underneath the pocket, the other two sides don't need to be turned. Sew back pockets to back parts.

      3. Turn pocket linings and sew pockets to pocket linings.

      4. Take front and back parts and place them against each other. Sew inseam. Repeat with the other leg.

      5. Place both legs agains each other and sew croch seam from back to the place where the extra allowance for fastening starts.

      6. Fold in the extra allowance on one side, sew.

      7. Hem legs, then sew outer seams.

At this point you should have something that actually looks like jeans.

      8. Roll the extra 1 x 15 cm piece as tightly as possible on one side. Sew, then cut off the excess to have a narrow strip for belt loops. Cut in five parts.

      9. Take your 4 x 21 cm strip, fold in one of the ends, then fold in two lenghtwise. This is the waistband.

      10. Pin the folded end of your waisband to the sewn side of your fastening allowance (see point 6). Go around the waist, pinning on the waistband.

      11. Slip your belt loops between waist and waistband, then sew. Cut off excess waistband.

      12. Sew the top parts of the belt loops onto the waistband. Cut off excess.

      13. Sew on velcro, snap on buttons etc. for fastening.

      You're done!

    2. Wow! Your jeans looks amazing! I love this pattern and will try to make it. I just purchased my first bjd, and already make costumes for myself. But I'm curious...where do you find thin jean fabric? I feel my old jeans will still be too thick for her.

    3. You can substitute chambray for denim or even quilting fabric with a denim texture printed on it.

    4. Thank you for the tip!

    5. Most fabric stores have lighter weight denim material in with their regular denim. If you want colors other than blue, you could also check out their sportswear sections or shirtings sections. I'm really glad I work at a fabric store and have learned a lot about different fabrics!

    6. Ooh! That’s a good idea! I’ll check out a store this week!

    7. @Ciele Thank you! The fabric I used isn't actually denim because the weave is a little bit different. The fabric is similar to those thin "denim" blouses/shirts you see in stores pretty much every spring and summer. As @Ayame Kurenai said, this kind of fabric can usually be found next to regular denims in fabric stores. :)
