Knitting Minifee Beret

Nov 16, 2021

    1. Hi dolly lovers! I made my first pattern for DoA! It's a beret style hat for Minifee dolls. It took me a few attempts to get it how I like, but I think it came out pretty cute! If anyone follows this pattern, feel free to post pictures in the comments or to Instagram. You can tag me as @lully.knits :chibi

      Sized for:

Fairyland Minifee dolls with a wig on, about 8" circumference. Can work for other MSD sized dolls and some larger headed YoSD dolls.
      (Shown on Minifee Alicia)

      Materials needed:
      • Fingering Weight yarn
      • US size 2 circular needles
      • Needle for weaving in ends
      • Optional stitch marker

      Gauge:
      7 stitches by 9 rows = 1" by 1" (blocked)

      Skills needed:
      • working in the round
      • magic loop method
      • Increasing and Decreasing
      • knitting and purling
      • I-cord

      Abbreviations:
      K: Knit
      P: Purl
      CO: Cast on
      sts: stitches
KtBL: Knit through the Back Loop
KFB: Knit Front and Back loop (increase stitch)
K2tog: Knit two stitches together as one (decrease stitch)
      BO: Bind off

      Notes:

      • Cast on with method of your choosing
      • I used cast on tail as my end of round marker but you can use a stitch marker if you would like.
      • I like to knit through the back loop for ribbing rounds because it makes a tad more defined ribbing in my opinion. You can knit normally if you prefer :)
      • Blocking is very important for this hat! Block flat like a disc to get the right shape. Normally you would wrap the hat around a plate if it were people sized but you can just flatten it out by hand and pin it in place to a towel. Or maybe wrap it around a small round coster or teacup saucer? Whatever works! :)

      CO: 48 sts
Divide into 24 sts on each half for magic loop method

      Ribbing:
      *KtbBL 1, P 1* for 3 rounds

      Set up Round:
      *K 1, KFB* for 1 round (72 sts)

      K 15 Rounds

      *K 2, K2tog* for 1 round (54 sts)

    4. Thank you for this pattern! My needles are in another project but I definitely want to try this when I get a chance. I tried making a hat once a while back to match my girl’s sweater, but didn’t know where to start.

    5. You're welcome! I just base it off people size hats that I have knitted before. I take a calculated guess at how many stitches I need and redo it a few times to get it right. I made 3 different versions. One came out too small, one too big and like Goldielocks the third try was just right! :wiggle Crown shaping is probably the trickiest part since you have to keep the shape in mind. I didn't want my beret to come out all pointed like a pixie hat! Hats are my favorite thing to knit so that's why I made a simple one for my first posted pattern. I have notes for the sweater she is wearing but that needs more test runs before posting. I'll get to that eventually. . . maybe :sweat

    6. VERY nice work and fabulous project photos! Great choice of yarn, too!!
Please, please could you post the stitches per inch and the circumference of the BJD's head with wig? That would let me know, no matter what BJD I have, if this beret would fit.
THANK YOU for posting this cute beret pattern!

    7. I updated the pattern to included your requested info! :3nodding: Sorry I tend to be naughty and knit with caution to the wind. As in, not thinking much about gauge. But I pulled out the hat at counted it. The gauge is 7 sts by 9 rows for an inch (blocked) and her head with a wig is about 8" around.

    11. Did it! It turned out slightly too big for my DF-H 1/5 girl, but I'll just make the next one smaller :XD: very fun and quick project!
