Been a while since i posted a project, here is my latest work in progressss... Plenty left to do but it should show the direction i want to move towardssss...
Yeah! I have now planned it like this: do two strings per hair. One somewhat loose for the hair itself so it moves and bends a bit like hair. And a short one more tightly strung one for the snake head (so that the snake heads don't sag down but can look up). Currently working on the tail. Giving each segment two hollow parts, one for the string and one for a metal wire to go through.
Medusa updatesss... The option to quickly switch between normal and snake lowerbody (the segment under the ribcage is where the body easily disconnects). Both a normal (hair) headplate and a snake headplate.
Ooh those options look cool! And the texturing in the image is neat too. What sculpting program are you using?
Thanks! I use Maya and Zbrush (this is mostly Maya tho). Yeah this is done quickly (bump map with a fractal) but it could be fun to do a stone/marble version later. Could look cool as a 3d print
This is a fascinating project! I am very curious to see the snakes in practice, I imagine getting the tension right will be very interesting! Her face has such a sadness in the expression as well, really lovely work.
Thx! Yeah Medusa's story is so sad, i really want to see it in the sculpt as well. Everything is still rough tho, doing small changes and tweaking the joints before i move to detailed sculpting. Yeah i have been thinking about the snake hair a lot. Also because next to this i'm working on a Twi'lek and doing lot's of test prints on the lekku/tentacle hair pieces. A great excercise before i move on with this one.
Medusa updatesss: The second belly is for her snake lowerbody (easily swappable using very strong magnets)
All (human) parts testprinted in PLA! Now to start on her snake lowerbody and do some testing and improving...
Except for the tail all parts are printed in resin and already it's looking a bit daunting... So many parts with both jointed hair and jointed hands. Meanwhile i started printing her tail in PLA, its going to be huge! Above a pic of the headcap for regular hair. This way she will be able to transform from human looking to half a snake.
