Hey! So I'm in the process of making an anthro BJD and I can't figure out whether to place him under MSD or YOSD. From head to toe without ears/wig he's 35cm, without head he's 30cm. I assume he could be YOSD for the childlike proportions (big head, skinny body), but I don't want to label him wrong!! I've tried researching, I found it seems like 35cm is kind of in between the two sizes? What label would that be called? (Image from my instagram @briGrivDoll) Also, for hip measurements, would I measure around the doll's "hip bones" or around the hip peanut joints? These joints stick out a little further from the torso so I'm not sure if like the maximum width is what's needed. Thanks~!
You must have been working on him for a while, he looks very cute! The descriptors used on the forums on here say 'Mini Dolls are 40 to 49 cm (45 cm average)' and 'Tiny dolls are dolls sized 39 cm and smaller (35 cm average)'. So on here he would fit into the Tiny category. Hope that's of some help. Sorry but I'm not sure about the measurement question.
Aw, he's darling! Agreeing with @DragonHeart - with that height, he's a tiny. (MSD and YoSD are specifically Volks' names for their own dolls in these categories, so not really applicable...although people do know what you mean if you use them.) Hip measurement is taken at the largest circumference around the butt. Those peanut joints appear to be more a part of his thighs.
Thank you so much for your replies!! Oh my gosh, I've been using doll vocab wrong this whole time... =m=; Now I understand, thanks so much for teaching me! TwT
