Me confusion

Dec 7, 2019

    1. Yo! I’m currently in the process of making a bjd, but the ball joints and the mechanics of everything still kinda confuse me lol. Does anyone know a god resouce for this? Also, i’m using zbrush for this and thus far have only seen one website that talks about bjd 3d digital sculpting.

    2. In my personal experience, the best way to figure out their mechanics was to have a doll and study them, but maybe it's just me? Not to mention it's a good excuse to collect many different dolls :XD:

    3. Yee my first doll is coming somewhere around this month, so maybe I could use them. Would it help if I unstrung the doll? Tbh I would be scared to lmao

    4. It definetly helps! Unstringing is not as scary as it first seems.

    5. Ah ok thank you ! I should watch a few youtube videos to help me lol

    6. There are some free existing models for 3D printing dolls that have been posted for public use - you might be able to look at one to see the joints, especially if you own a printer. Here’s one I’ve had success printing and assembling (and can say is jointed well): 1/3 ball jointed doll BJD 60cm by SorrowBJD

There’s also a link to the BJD group on Thingiverse on that one’s description - you’ll find a lot of useful advice there :)
