Ok so reading up on DOA about masks for protecting yourself from different things i was curious for Ladoll do i need to use a mask? Or paperclay when sanding ect. Id like to make a doll as safely as possible. I also heard Ladoll is a stone clay not a sand one so would it attach to paper easily like paperclay? Thanks so much :3!!
When just sculpting I don't wear a mask but when sanding especially if I'm using my dremel I'll wear a mask. The doll I'm currently sculpting I started off using DAS which is a paperclay and then switched to LA Doll and didn't have a problem with it attaching.
Thanks so much appreciate your reply! So should i buy a paper mask or a gas mask type of thing for the sanding down? im guessing the same type of mask you use for sanding resin? And im happy Ladoll attaches well to paperclay.
One of the regular paper masks for dust should be fine if you're just sanding the paperclay as there's not really any fumes to speak of.
Great i have those ^_^! Also another question so i dont have to keep makeing topics sorry about that x.x! How do i do the sizing of the doll do i take measurements of a MSD and just kind of line it up and draw in the lines? Thanks so much!
Sizing is really up to you. SD is around 60 cm, MSD is around 40 cm. But there are "SD" sized dolls that are 58 or 62 cm, and MSD sized dolls that are 38 or 42 cm, or you can make whatever size you want. It's really up to you. Decide on roughly what height you want, and then do a sketch to scale as a guide. You can use another doll's proportions as a guide (most dolls have very large heads and very long legs compared to real human proportions), you can go by human proportions (decide how big the head will be, then work out the rest in "heads"), or just wing it.
