I thought I had shown here my new Lisette, but it looks like I forgot! Here a pic I took this summer : ---- MaskcatDoll Previous discussion thread: * Part 1: Maskcat 57cm Dolls * Part 2: Maskcat 57cm Dolls
I really wish there were more pictures of the new Calla sculpt available. I really love her expression in most of the pictures, but I don’t love the wig she’s styled in and I think it’s making it hard to tell whether I like her more than some of the others or not. Been planning on getting a Maskcat for a while but it’s so difficult to decide on which one I want.
Second faceup attempt for Lisette, much more happy with it Tried to make her look a bit more like Lisette v1. Photo also here
So many pretty Lisette in this topic :3 After a Willow, i finally got a Lisette too I hope i will be able to paint her soon
Got my Lisette and thought this may help someone. My two Maskcat are hybrids. On the left : Willow natural skin on natural skin old double joints Supia body (from 2022). On the right : Lisette natural skin on pure skin fair Volks sdgr body (from 2021). No filter, natural daylight. Love Maskcat bodies. They are stunning ! but a bit too childish for the character on the left, and i wanted to try the sdgr body for the right one (plus it's nice to have a tiny SD girl. I only have +60 cm). Love the pale natural skin from Maskcat. You can easily blush it for a very good match with other resin skintones. Now i'm in a hurry to do her makeup
@citronrouge - Those both look very nice, especially Willow + Supia! I love your Willow's styling - her skin tone with the pink hair and lovely pink-toned faceup work so well! I really like the smaller 1/3 dolls - in my dreams Maskcat would make a 50cm body so there could be in-between size/ages (some of the sculpts, such as Ronia, would work perfectly as younger girls).
Thank you very much @StellaMarigold Sometimes i miss tiny SD too... and yep some molds like Ronia will give perfect tiny sd. Totally agree with you.
Dollstown recently created a new 52cm body (with lots of options for construction!) so at some point I'm going to try that for my Dollmore Mio - and I'll try Ronia on it too just to see (although I think the DT body is pretty slim). And maybe Maskcat will try the smaller size someday! I definitely can't do anything much over 60cm. They are just too large and too heavy for me.
@StellaMarigold haha i already ordered the new DT 2.2 girl but yep it looks more like a tall msd than a tiny sd. Not sure SD heads will work with it. We'll see
@citronrouge - Ohh, maybe when it comes in you can see how a Maskcat head looks on it! I'm sure it will be too big haha - Dollmore Mio is a fair bit smaller than my Juni, Ronia, etc. But it would be fun for science
My Maskcat Frances arrived a few months ago, but I never had time to post a photo of her here ... I'll fix that now! Let me introduce you to Apolline!
@Flaxen Hair Girl She's so beautiful ! A very delicate and elegant girl. I've finished the make-up and the customization of my Lisette. Literally in love with her ! (I added tiny red dots to her eyes to enhance her strange look. Yup another vampire at home )
@citronrouge Beautiful makeup!!! Does anybody know if maskcat's tan matches soom light tan? Or any other tans for that matter?
Maskcat tan is really more orange than soom light tan. I own both maskcat tan and a resin matching soom light tan, I can take a comparison picture of you want, @Arimioa !
@Arimioa Here is the comparison picture! In artificial light, sorry, as it is too early in the morning for natural light. The SD hand on left is the Maskcat tan, the MSD hand on right is in Soom tawny (or light tan, as it is a matching color and not a Soom doll).
Thank you so much! That really helps a lot @Follow-the-Wind It's pretty and quite rich in color. I like it very muchI've been really eyeing the 62cm body and I think that would be the perfect color. The character I hope to shell is darker skinned, so I think it's more suitable than soom tawny/light tan. Will need to save up more than anticipated though XD
Is there anyone here who have handled both the 57 and the 58 SD body? I’m considering getting a Maskcat girl for my collection, but I’m so unsure about which body I should get; I have found a 57 for sale secondhand, which is why this is even a question, as I understand that they have been discontinued. which is better and why? Based on pictures, it looks like the biggest difference is in the hands and mobility thigh joint? It also looks like the upper torso part is slightly bigger on the 58 body
How did you guys decide on which Maskcat girl you're going to get? I am so torn between them all (why so pretty?). Previously I've had a Lisette and Ronia head. But I never got around to painting them and sold them on eventually. Big regret in a way because I would have actually loved to paint them. Another one I really really like is Margo. She just seems very versatile. And Valentina too, though I'm a bit on the fence about her jawline (it's so straight). But I can only get oneWhat was your deciding factor?
I was about to get Frances, but when I browsed the Instagram I instantly fell in love with a set of Yael pictures. There are pictures around which show the 1.0 sculpt, which is a bit different and it's easy to mix them up. It was the 2.0 sculpt that I liked the best. Struggling to decide which one to take home is par for the course, they're all beautiful dolls and I think it doesn't even matter which one you pick in the end cause it's impossible to have regrets
Yael is also very cute. I haven't seen many owner photos of her though. She looks a bit done though sometimes But I guess all Maskcat dolls have a certain expression to them that makes them unique. Definitely! And the longer I look the less I know whoooCalla is also sweet but I think she's still too new to find pictures of. Currently my main contenders are Lisette and Margo, but now Astrid is sneaking in...
She is a bit similar to Frances but with a mellower mood. This is mine! Wearing a Volks outfit. And yeah Maskcat dolls all look sullen If you want to see tons of user pictures I suggest you look up "Maskcat" or "Maskcatdoll" or sometimes "貓家 BJD" + the name of the sculpt on Weibo. It's easy to find pictures because the dolls' names are not transliterated in hanzi, and they just use the English name.
Thank you so much! I'm looking them up on Weibo and it just gets harder and harder Your Yael looks so darling in her dress. She seems like such a gentle soul
I had a really hard time deciding too! What ended up helping in the end was looking at the pictures of the blank heads and the painted heads on the two different bodies so I could really see the expressions on the different sculpts. Seeing the dolls styled just made me want to buy all of them! I liked Valentina a lot at first but I think partly it was the Renaissance dress she was wearing. I ended up ordering Calla and she should hopefully be arriving soon so I’ll definitely try to post pictures when she arrives since there really aren’t any yet.
Thank you for the inspiration, I will be doing that. Right now, Margo on the 62cm is calling for me. Her face looks kind but confident and she suits this body so wellBut she's so darn expensive The first time I bought a Maskcat doll, that was exactly the deciding factorI chose Lisette as I loved the way she looked in her red gown. She was also the first Maskcat one I had seen years ago. I went straight ahead and bought her without even sparing a longer look at the others. It was this clear to me. Funnily enough, this time around I only wanted to buy a body to hybrid. And then I got sucked in again... Oh, please do share! She is very cute, especially her upturned noseHoping you can welcome her soon!
I hear you there! I chose the one that spoke to me the most in terms of inspiring a character. I was between Lisette, Frances, and Astrid for the longest time and I ultimately purchased Astrid, as I generally prefer dolls with closed mouths and Frances read as too young for the character I was debating on. I haven't yet sent her out for a faceup, but I'm totally enraptured by her even in her blank state, so I'd definitely say I made the correct choice. She carries a presence totally unlike anything else in my collection.
She really does! I find she has a strong aura, quite determined and maybe a bit more regal? I'm not sure how I like the newer version yet, but original Astrid definitely has a presence! Is that her in your profile picture?
Hi again, I've browsed the ANS discussion thread a bit and saw your comparison of ANS tan and fairyland tan. Based on the picture you shared it looked like the ANS tan is quite similar to the Maskcat one regarding warmth and tone (orangey rather tan red/green). If you still have that body, do you think it'd be possible to see comparison picture of that too?Because I have so many hybrid ideas in my head now
It is! I ordered her in Sept 2024, so she's the first version, but I only got to unbox her recently due to a change in living situation. She's quickly usurped basically everyone else as my favorite, including my grail doll! I could stare at her for hours and never get bored!
@Arimioa Here are the pics! Awful phone pics but that's enough for what we want to see. Here is the one without flash: Spoiler: and the one with flash The one with flash is more obvious : Maskcat tan is slightly more orange and more deep than ANS tan. But it is a 85% match I'd say. Nothing a good faceup can't hide.
@Follow-the-Wind Thank you so much, for me personally it is more than close enoughYou've just allowed so many new ideas into my head
Finally, very happy with this couple Adagia (Willow on Supia body) & Allegretta (Lisette on Volks body) Have a good day everyone !
I'm going to be owning a Lisette againSuper duper excited for her! Alice Collection has been so helpful in changing my order from body only to full doll. Their costumer service is just amazing. Now I'll have to wait, but it's going to be worth it. I ordered her on the 62cm body and with the suitable dress form. There are already so many outfit ideas bouncing around in my head. And I really want to make her a display room, even if it's small. After previously having sold her the year before, I ended up missing her a lot. She came in at the same time as a long time grail, so her body was snatched away immediately and I didn't really know what to do with her. It also didn't help that this was the first time I had an SD doll and I would have needed an even bigger body for her (since the head is so big) which I found quite intimidating size and price wise (lol, it changed very quickly though). So now it kind of feels like she's coming home again from a long trip, more mature but just as lovelySome dolls have that magnetic pull you can't escape~
