Oh she is just gorgeous! I love that face on her- My sisters when they visit love looking through the most recent ED book- they say the dolls are weird and scary but they can't tear their eyes off of them... hah!
Thank you this is the first dolly profile I did too I want to do one for my MNF also Marina did a resin line as a one off thing I believe. Or it became a one-off thing eventually Thank you! I had a specific look in mind and I'm so happy it all worked out with both faceup and wig artists I know what you mean about your sisters looking through the books. I never found Marina's dolls scary myself, but I met some people who do. But guess what, all of them are still fascinated.
I don't think so ? Here is a wig she made: Actually for Popovy but fits okay- But I love this one the best now! From Ilaria
Out of curiosity, does anyone know if it's still possible to get on the RED waiting list? I've always wanted one, but got into BJDs too late, so I didn't think it would be possible to even get a hold of one, but recently I've been seeing RED owner pictures popping up in several places.
So she closed the list for dolls- and fairly recently, decided to sell off the 100 or so blanks she had left over. She will not paint them. They have been slowly slowly going through the list- which is where so many (most of us on the list for more than 2 years) finally got their dolls. Most recently I have heard they got to the end of the list, and that a few people who had ordered 2 (but had only been able to buy one) were asked whether they still wanted to buy their 2nd after all. So maybe it wouldn't hurt to ask? But in any case, the reason pictures are popping up is the recent release into the wild of a number of new blank RED dolls. I have seen at least a few get re-sold to new owners, which is what I expected would happen. Second-hand dolls usually sell for more than Marina charges.
Oh she's lovely Urszula! Here's one I did for the holidays Also- for those of you who would still be interested in an Enchanted Doll- per someone on the ED forum, they have gone through the entire list of people, and there were still about 30 dolls so they started taking some new names... So it is probably worth it to put your name down!
I recently acquired this lovely sofa-chair for my girl- even though it is maybe a tad too big for her I like it anyway. The other girl in the photo is one of the Menagerie's (Marmite Sue) new porcelain gals. I just love the hand and feet details on both dolls (and the posing).
Oh they are just stunning! I also got into BJDs too late to be able to get one "easily"... maybe one day...
Actually, I don't think it is so hard to get a resin doll these days. Marina recently sold off 100 blank resins to people who had been on the list- a number of people are reselling their dolls after not too long, I think there are a couple being sold on the Enchanted doll forum right now. Enchanted
Hi @Galacticat ! Ha ha well it turns out you are right I saw a few RED for sale on the Enchanted forum, and in the end I bought one from a kind member on the Hearts of Clay forum! I have only paid half of it, but hopefully she'll be with me before the end of the summer What can I say, I'm beyond thrilled!! Now I am trying to find info on shoes / shoe sizes , clothes that fit, etc... I haven't seen any sales threads for shoes/clothes/accessories but maybe I'll post a WTB. Until I get to meet her and find out her style, I'll try having at least a couple of outfits ready. And none of my other BJD clothes are going to fit, I'm afraid ! So... YAYYY!!??!!!
Congratulations! Some basics- Clothing- you can start with Clear Lan, they now make all their stuff in ED size, shoes- check shapeways.com, someone has some cheap 3-d printed shoes that fit perfect!
Thanks for the tips! I did see the 3D-printed shoes and they seem really cute. I really can't wait to receive her
Congrats toletta !!! Fingers crossed for you And a spam from me so google could see my photoes ))) PS.hmm I don't get it ...why I'm not seen in google search.. strange I'm too stupid for it hihiii Elizabethan dress by Urszula, on Flickr
Just because someone asked about that...I'm one of the owners of Marina's Resin dolls (and Porcelain dolls too ) And congratulations you all for your beautiful girls and amazing photos, Marina's dolls are so inspiring! My Enchanted Dolls on FLICKR!
Dropping by to share a recent photo of my resin ED, Novalie: #bjdpropknolling by Amal, on Flickr Also, the link to find the shoes I made for EDs on Shapeways can be found in my signature ^_^
These dolls are so beautiful! They were what made me fall in love with BJD's. I'm sad to read that she will no longer be making any. Does anyone know of that is still the case? Is she maybe starting a new line or is she retiring for good?
Well she's definitely not making any more resin bjds, but she seems to be making a porcelain doll about once a year...
Oh wow! This thread is still going! I wonder if Marina's list is still open for the 30 remaining dolls she had available after going through the first version of the list. This is my first post by the way, I'm new to the forum! Not to the passion of dolls though but I don't have any BJD's just yet!! Almost there though =) My name is João! I will say that Marina's dolls were my introduction to BJD's, and I have known them for at least around 10 years now. It was a friend that introduced them to me when we were in University studying fashion together. I remember she used them as inspiration for her illustrations Now a curious thing is that I did intend to put money together for a porcelain one but I quickly gave up because I wasn't making money at the time at all. But I went on the list anyway and got contacted perhaps a year later. I didn't take the spot of course. But I am so happy to see these girls here! Congratulations to the proud owners =) Cherish them well! I can't wait to have my first BJD!
Welcome João! I'm gonna assume that if someone contacts Marina for a resin doll and she still has them, that she will sell them. It's just that a lot of people weren't as interested in paying 2.900 USD for a blank, wigless doll.
Thank you for welcoming me Eiko! =) Yes, her resins are selling at too high priced for being blanks. I do think she conquered some sort of elite status on her own and fair and square too, so it's not like I don't understand the prices. It's the same reason why some people can afford certain brands of clothes, or certain locations for housing, and others can't. I had long given up on the idea of getting one of her dolls but I still to this day love looking at them =) I never let alone thought I would ever order a BJD and am in the process of ordering one! So that's already great! I seem to see a lot of artists going for the same aesthetic of dolls as Marina, but sadly it's really hard, most of the time I find, to find prices prior to contacting the artists. So I don't know.. for now my hopes rely on having a bjd at doll (fortunately I am able to afford my favourite one at this time). I don't see myself having many of these. But that's what I find great here, that people share they doll play! There's not a lot of people in real life, at least close to me, that feel this passionate about dolls as we see here =D It's nice to know anyway, that she may still have dolls available =) I would be thrilled with one even though the resins to me feel very very different from her porcelains. I hope to see more of them around here!
Marina has announced on her blog that she has a few resins available for sale - and to email her if interested: [email protected]
Thanks for the heads up! I enquired, but I didn't realise the price was that steep. If there was a longer layaway option, I'd probably go for it, but as it is I just can't (may need a new saddle for my horse and only just bought my first two BJDs (with another on the way)) - genuinely think my partner would leave me LOL.
The price is high- but considerably less than the secondary market USED to support. I'm glad Marina is getting the $$ now instead of resellers. The dolls are pricey (although not too different from Popovy or Tender Creations who use the same factory and jointing method which is INCREDIBLE for posing)
How long does it take for her to reply usually? i sent her an inquiry on the RED yesterday but got no reply yet. I am wondering if i am expecting too much. Thanks
I usually don't get a response until 4 days later give or take. Probably you will get a response from Chad, her husband. If you don't, don't feel shy about sending a follow-up email Dropping a photo of my pretty girl- and I recent just bought 3 additional tins from ED- they are really lovely and just perfect for storing other things besides dolls Untitled by Sarah, on Flickr
Hello, I'm looking to save up and budget for a RED and I wondered if anyone could tell me if they got snagged by UK custom fees for their RED purchase? Apologies if this is the incorrect place to ask
@helenb92 I was also hoping to purchase one of the last resin EDs from Marina, but I was told (just a few days ago) that they are now all sadly sold out :'( When I received my previous RED I think I was charged £200-300 in customs fees. So, yes, they are valued for the full amount when they are shipped directly from Marina.
@aneemal - Oh dear, I am utterly devasted and heart broken by this news I suppose I will just hope that a miracle happens and either more become avalible later on or I am able to find one second hand... Thank you for letting me know about the customs fees too, I appreciate it.
For what it's worth, there's an RED on eBay (US) right now, though at a considerable markup from Marina's original price. (Not my auction in any way, shape, or form! )
@Cynthia in FlintHills Thank you for letting me know, unfortunately I still have quite a ways to go in terms of saving and a long way to go for 2nd hand prices too. I will keep my eyes open of course
Hope you can find one someday @helenb92 Just wanted to share a photo of my three girls: Moira, Arya and Gwen
That headdress is amazing! She's the science one, if I'm not mistaken? Back when I was in middle school and first discovered Enchanted Dolls, she inspired me to do some terrible steampunk comic :P.
I am huge fan of Marina;s talent. My adventure with dolls started when I first saw her dolls on google. I am a happy owner of one RED. Anyway, say bye to such beauty is always hard. Marina;s dolls has something . I probably never say "bye" to porcelain version, but they are soooo expensive Like a small piece of art. I am so happy that such porcelain job like Marina;s is so inspiring for many people , like me. I realized I never give her a name ... plemiona prywatny serwer
you'r doing such great job with this beautiful dress! who made the face up, is this you too ? Any way congratulation for being the happy owner of such a beauty!
Makeup was done by The Ugliest Wife. In fact I discovered her because of that doll, cause I was looking for a talented painter near my country, and I found her 100km far from place where I live ! Ha! Funny story don;t you think? Thank you!
Well it was your dollies destiny I am thinking about her to make the face up and wig for my Serenade looking like Violet Chachki and of course you will be the one to do her special 50's dress, that is if you have time of course. When will you start working again ? Love so so much all your creations
