You may have seen her progress here... I finally did some shots of her: Closeup: Some naked shots and posing: Several themed photoshoots: Manuna is 10.5 cm tall (including ears). Materials used: Apoxie Sculpt, Bosny spray white matte primer, MSC, pastels, acrylics. The tail is attached using magnets. Clothes are made of the cotton cambric and are embroidered. I do not plan to repeat her in any medium for now. Thanks for looking!
WAHH! She looks just like she came out of Beatrix Potter's books! She's so adorable! It's a shame you won't make more!
Stinker, thank you! Jphobia, thanks! Many people point the stylistic similarity with illustrations by Beatrix Potter, but i actually didn't use her works as references. It's not a coincidence though as I wanted to dress my mouse in Victorian style. Umm... I'm sorry if I misunderstood you, English is not my 1st language. But do you mean I should be ashamed of my decision not to face many troubles concerned with reproducing and selling her copies?
ira_scargeear I don't think she meant you should be ashamed! When we say 'it is a shame' that means it is unfortunate for us that you won't make more because it is so beautiful
The Themed Photo Story at your web page, is absolutely fantastic !!! I love Manuna's little house and her little wagon. That cat in the striped suit looks so scary !!! I am glad they are friends. Everything you have made is so wonderful. Thank you for sharing her with us !!! )
aneemal, aha, thank you so much for the explanation! *Notes the meaning of a sentense* kwmelvin, thank you! I adore tiny things so much, if I would have a place I'd like to make a house for her...
This could also be interpreted as: It is unfortunate for us that you will not be making more of Manuna The Mouse. Google translation: К сожалению для нас, что вы не будете делать больше Manuna мыши. OMG! :XD
i LOVE mice. and i love that she can contrapposto! that's a huge plus for me, and something i hope to achieve in my own doll.
Hehe yes, Mauna IS small enough. What size elastic did you use for her? She is about the size of the dolls I like to work on. I've been using .5 mm jewelry elastic I believe :O But it's tension is not very strong..
Your mouse is so lovely, are the eyes painted on or are they glass or acrylic eyes? I can't tell from the pictures.
clarinetplayer, I used elastic in bobbin that is used for sewing (like this one). Triple strings are in hands and quadruple strings are in the body. I wasn't sure how strong it would be and if it would loosen over time, but Manuna uses those elastics for 11 months already, and the tension is still strong enough. Other people who make tiny dolls use another kind of sewing elastic - silicone, not rubber one, it also works fine for them. Maybe it's even stronger. Looks like this and works for beads too. Mutsu, thank you! Maybe someday I'll have a contract with a BJD-making company... Stinker, thank you! Her eyes are 6 mm glass eyes from Dollmore, I forgot the brand name, but Lati use the same kind of eyes for their dolls.
I have always wondered if the silicone stuff would work. I have some, but never tried haha. Thank you!
I usually hate anthro bjds but something about this mouse is just I hope you choose to reproduce her someday she looks like a storybook character!
@IpLemons, @Mirror, @Shion_97, @Aboost, OMG, thank you very much! Thanks a lot for your kind words! I have a good news for those who likes my Manuna, please check out my social media listed in the signature ^_^
She's super cute! I've fallen in love!! If you ever decide to cast more I'll definitely have to try and get one from you, I love mice with all my heart.
So cute! Definitely agree with the Beatrix potter comments. Any advice for tiny joints in this scale?
Thank you so much, I'm so glad my mice are loved! New photo: Hmmm, as a sculptor who creates both 10 cm and 65 cm high dolls I see no difference. Just patience and precision. Actually tiny joints are more forgiving because smaller dolls hold poses better.
