Yes could be, on the bjd subreddit i posted a few times during the build. And yeah she does. Its one of the alien things (depending on her outfit) someone might not notice at first, adding a sort of a second layer of "alien" to discover. Finding a bra for her is close to impossible tho
I’d think you could modify one or use a camisole and modify that to have a band under the second set.
Moderation Note: A number of years ago we disallowed threads themed by specific hobby demographics, like this one. It started with one and next thing you know there were threads for collectors under 18, collectors over 40, male collectors, collectors in the military and so on. We want threads on the forum to be inclusive, and since some people didn't "qualify" for thread participation it became exclusionary. They also needed a lot of moderation as they would go off topic regularly. We do know that male collectors finding one another in this hobby is a big challenge, so rather than closing or removing this thread we will move it to Brigadoon. Please keep in mind that we do not allow banned dolls, advertising or sales content in Briagadoon either, so please keep things within forum rules. --- @fierox just a reminder that dolls that have not been submitted and approved for topicality are not allowed on the forum at large. You can share them in Making a BJD and Brigadoon, so once this thread is moved your posting images of them is fine. --- This thread is now moved.
I have to admit, I love SD-sized dolls! I have a few 70cm ones, and I'd love to have a Trinity one day. Maybe when we move to a larger house. Welcome to all the new people to this thread! And @fierox, your alien is really badassed! Are you considering admitting them to the Mods to see if they could become an on-topic BJD? Ryu
I just looked up the trinity dolls. Holy crap! 105 cm??? I thought Lusion was too big. I just found out about Cronarium (?) as well which are 120 cm. The blank doll does seem to be less than the Trinity though.
I like the Lusion size. Actual children's shoes and socks are way less expensive than ones made specifically for BJD, she fits into a lot of my collection of antique and vintage baby/toddler dresses, and the bigger they are, the easier they are to sew for: Teddy
Trans guy, as it turns out (took me long enough to figure it out)-- my collection is pretty overwhelmingly leaning towards male dolls, which... definitely started out as a method of self-expression as I explored my place in the gender continuum. I was telling my mom about wanting to buy a new doll, just after coming out re gender stuff, and she asked if it was going to be one of the really nice male dolls, to celebrate, and I had to kind of laugh because I already have primarily boys-- coming into my own as a man actually felt like it freed me up to have a girl in my collection just to be able to dress her up in the cute clothes I might no longer want to try to put myself in. (she's going to be a spunky action girl but that doesn't mean she can't like cute things!)
Omg I need to comment on this thread, I've felt kind of alone or weird at times for being a guy in such a "girly" hobby for the past ...7 years LOL. I keep my interest and collection kind of secret. Since sometimes people think it's creepy. Only people who are cool enough to come to my house and check out my room are aware of my. BJD hobby. I only really collect male dolls, but I have no interest in girls in general really so maybe that's why. I like to make them OCs and it feels weird to have female characters, I relate to guys more and have an easier time with them. Though many are relatively gender neutral or androgynous in appearance! But it does seem fun to have a girl doll to dress up in really cute outfits! c: But if anyone wants to talk about bjds I'm so down too try and vibe with some other guys/masculine/male presenting friends! Excuse me while I read more of this thread...
Nice! Yeah, I want this thread to be here to encourage guys to feel comfortable and like they don’t have to feel weird. What are your OCs like? What’s your doll criteria?
I prefer MSD sized dolls. My taste in aesthetics has changed over the years I've been in the hobby. I used to love cute YoSD and MSD dolls like Soom sculpts and Luts dolls. I still have several of them, but I wish we had more mature msds! I think I started collecting when I was 18-19 but now I'm in my mid 20s and want dolls that look older too. I'd love a BJD with an SD look but MSD (or even YoSD) sized since SDs are kinda huge LOL. I really love fantasy dolls, and centaur bjds. The old LUTS moonlit song Bory got me interested in collecting a few centaurs and now I have so many lol. Most of my OCs are fantasy characters and the older I've grown up the older they get too so I have characters raging from 7-30 with a few rare older ones. Doll criteria would have to be anything that ideally isn't white resin. I prefer "normal skin" or deep yellows. I love old deep yellowed resin, though yellow and orange are among my favorite colors so I'd love to see any resin in those colors, and white colored ones are kinda hard to photograph at times. I'd love some super anime styled dolls so I'm considering trading/selling some of my collection to get some vinyl DDs.
Dude here I was soo anxious to start the hobby, but just couldn't help it. It was around the time of the emo/punk/gothic BJD-themed wave, which I've got a weakness for, so yeah As you get older you care less and less about what others think though (but alas, still apprehensive about telling others of my interest in this hobby). I've owned a great deal of dolls, both male and female. But I've found (/narrowed down to) that vinyl works best for me, and girl dolls. Mainly because they are easier to dress, as in got more to choose from (and guys aren't that common in vinyl). Guys have a more boring selection of clothes, in my opinion/according to my tastes. Resin boys look the best, and other people do them better justice than I could! So I'm just gonna admire them from afar. (I would have loved to know all that in the beginning to save on money though!) I shell OCs, and get dolls to visualize styles I like. Basically, I like dress-up....
Punk and goth styles are so rare now and like... dammmmn. I totally get you about resin boys. I was thinking of getting a male Obitsu but they're rare too! I know they're off topic, but Smart Doll is just impossible to get in male. Which is a shame, I really wanted to try getting a Cortex Kit when they had them. Building a doll yourself is a dream.
