    2. Part Two!

So now that you have all your pattern pieces, let's start making shoes!

      The Sole:
Trace your sole pattern onto the cardboard four times and cut them out.
My cardboard has a different pattern on each side, so I cut them all out the same way, and flipped two so I could tell right from left, if yours does not, mark which soles are left and which are right.

Glue the soles down onto your fabric.

Cut one set out completely, and cut the other out with a little extra fabric around the edge. The ones with the extra fabric will be the bottoms, and the set cut out all the way will be the in-soles.

Fringe the extra fabric on the bottoms, and glue to the other side. The fringing helps it lay neatly.

Now we have the pieces for the sole finished:

      For the "Uppers"
Cute out two of both the top pieces, and two of the back piece on the fold. Make sure you cut out one set for the left shoe, and one for the right. (flip the patterns!)

Glue the side pieces together. The fold will be the top edge.
Glue the raw edge of the little top piece down:

      Continued Below!

    3. Final Part!
(and this is where a thunderstorm started outside! Sorry- Some of the pictures will be a bit dark.)
Glue the little top to the big top!

Fold over the raw edge of the top piece and glue into place.

Cut a tiny slit in the middle of the top piece edge, and glue a tiny piece of elastic behind it.

Glue your side piece to the top piece. Let there be a slight over hang. This will give the shoes the right look from the front, but allow the back to be longer so it will stay on your doll's foot.

Starting to look like shoes! Almost there!

Line up your shoes with the insoles. The diagonal line should point toward the big toe.

Now you simply have to glue your uppers to the insole!
It can get pretty sticky, but keep smooshing the uppers down and they will stay. I find if i let the tacky glue sit for a minute and then start pushing the fabric down, it sticks better.
I start at the top to keep it even, and then do the sides, and the heel last.

Glue the uppers to the soles!

Add a small label to the back, and a tag to the side!

And you my friend, have finished your shoes! :)

    21. Hey, I was just wondering how long these shoes last? Has anyone tried any different types of glues?

    22. Mine are still going strong. I made a pair of ugg boots with the same type of soles, but used hot glue for those. They are also holding up really well.
If anyone else made shoes, I'd love to see photos!

    23. THANK YOU!!! :D I'm so going to try this!

    31. Thank you!
It's easy to make clothes but really hard to make shoes.

    32. Very excellent tutorial! Clear and easy to follow pictured instructions. Great ideas for those "hard to fit" feet. Thank you !

    33. thank you very much. I also will try to do so.:)

    34. Awesome~ Thank you for sharing! This is pretty neat! I'm going to have to try it. :)

    35. Great tutorial! Made a pair for my tiny girl this afternoon. I used pliver for the sole and inner sole, which made it a bit bulky, but it was easy enough to fix. Used only one piece of card stock per foot for the inner sole and made that according to the instructions. For the bottom I just cut a piece of the pliver out to fit. I also found that ironing the edges/folds and then hitting it with a bit of glue on my finger made it much easier to get a smooth "seam" on something so small. I omitted the elastic, simply because I didn't have any small enough, but they turned out so cute.

    36. These are the cutest little shoes. Thanks so much for the great tutorial!

    37. This is unbelievably clever.

    38. You, my friend, are amazing!!! :D Thank you so much for this tutorial, now all my girls must own a pair!! :D Yippeee!! :D

    49. Thank you for sharing! :)

    50. I didn't post the first pair I made because it came out craptastic, but the last try went a lot better:

I made a little change: Instead of cardboard and fabric I used craft foam for the outer sole and glued a strip of ribbon all around it for a more finished look.

Thanks a lot for the tutorial! :)

    51. Nice tutorial. Need to try this.

    52. Oh my god. You just made my life so much easier! Thank you for the tutorial! It's very easy to understand!

      Thanks a lot

    57. Awesome tutorial! Who doesn't like Tom's?

    58. This is fantastic, I'm going to try to make these tonight. I had seen a video on making TOMs from Duct Tape, but these are so much nicer!

    59. This was a great tutorial. I love making these little here. These ones I made a while ago are about 1/6 size. I used craft foam for the soles. I managed to get glue all over myself but these came out so adorable!

    60. Great tutorial. My boy is on his way and I still haven't found a suitable pair of boots for him! I'm definitely going to make him a pair of these to see him through until I can find him some boots. Thanks! :)
