I wasn't sure which tag to use, since I did a lot with Faye, my Dollzone Little Snow in purple, to make her mine. Her arrival was rather disappointing as not only did she arrive on the wrong body (Dollzone B27-005 instead of the standard B27-004), but she is terribly faded and definitely not in a "like new" condition. New-Clover-Singing sold her to me as new and for new pricing directly from DZ, but then after I received the doll in a shoe box instead of a regular shipping box, I could clearly tell that this was not a new doll. The body is clearly a boy body (I wanted a girl), and the head is completely a different color from the body. Plus the fading on the arms and legs are obviously from sun exposure. Turned out the doll was a 2 year old display model, which explained the uneven yellowing and fading. After a bit of back and forth with NCS, I was given a partial refund and I could start making her mine, since there was no way to get the actual doll I wanted. First thing first, was to remove the boy bits with a small rotary tool. Once the bulk was removed, I used some high grit sandpaper to smooth the mod out. You can tell her purple is brighter where I removed the peen. Yes I know, no one would be able to tell when I put her in a dress, but I would know it's wrong and for my own collection that is a no go. Next step was taping some magnets to her back, as I wanted her for sure to have wings. Luckily I had a pair of Luts HDF-MDF sized wings at home I'd gotten secondhand. There isn't enough room in the chest piece to glue a magnet inside, nor to mod a spot into the back to put a magnet into. So I used masking tape! Easy to remove, and is hidden under clothes The next steps were giving her a faceup. The first faceup I put on her I wasn't happy with, because I hadn't picked a wig for her yet. But some months after wigging her, I got fed up with the mismatch of the black eyebrows to the dark blonde hair, so I wiped her and started over. Here to commemorate the first faceup I gave her. And onto repainting her! With the faceup, I had to first color match the faded purple to the slightly more saturated purple of her body. Once the color was even, I added blushing and some pale gold sparkly spots similar to freckles. Once the blushing was solid, I painted in her eyebrows, eyeliner, and a bit of eye makeup. I also gave her a pretty and shimmery filigree pattern painted on with Coliro Pearlcolors (color Fenrir). I didn't take really many wip shots of this faceup, but here it's finished! The filigree work shimmers between a pale gold and lavender, which I absolutely love. I am a bit sad that her delicate gold freckling disappeared from it, but it's okay, not all my dolls need freckles... Here she is all put together as she's styled currently. I really need to take some DSLR photos of her, my phone just isn't the best... Thank you for looking!
Oh wow, that's a really nice transformation! Great job on the mod, it bothers me too sometimes if my crafts have mistakes that might not be seen, but I know they're there>_< I also love the faceup, that shimmery purple is gorgeous! I'm glad you got to save her and properly make her yours after that rocky beginning
Wow! What an incredible turn around! I remember that box opening and feeling sad with you over the disappointment of getting something similar but not exactly what you wanted, and definitely not what you paid for, so I'm glad to see that it at least partially worked out in the end. Your mod of the body is almost completely invisible, very skillfully done! I love the filigree on her cheeks! It's so elaborate without being extra, it reminds me of when I was young and it was the height of fashion to put jewel stickers on your face. That combined with her sweet, gentle smile really helps make her look like a gentle little fae.
@ArtsyCreature - thank you so much! I’m glad I could make her my own after all @sunhellion - thank you so much! @Cubism - thanks! I was really disappointed upon the box, but now she’s a beloved part of my collection! I also loved putting gems and drawing different designs on my face when I was a teen and young adult! So now I do it on my dolls instead. I may one day order a Gem of Doll Lotte in purple with wings to get a little purple fairy, but Faye is a cute little fae with wings on her own too! @RabbidBunnies - thankee!
