Jany submitted a new tutorial: Tutorial: Making A Bodice Pattern Read more about this tutorial here...
This is very helpful! The masking tape method is useful for all sorts of patterns! Your doll is very lovely, I have a soft spot for Bibiane. And thank you for a great profile shot of her! I love seeing dolls from the sides, too!
That's probably the preview pic dA makes us add if we want to upload a pdf, it shouldn't show up when you click the link ... is anyone else having the same problem? I'd insert the pdf here instead of the link but I don't know how
It is working fine for me. I can see the (really great) tutorial without any problems. Years ago, I tried the same thing to make a corset. And from my own experience... please try it on a naked doll (no bra, no panties)! Otherwise you will have an underwear customizing project!^^' I accidentally cut my SD Nana's original panty and had to repair it with some lace and ribbons. The result was fine, but... her original default pantieeeeee... T-T
oops o.O Did you manage to save it?? Glad you liked it, and good to know it's not broken. The bad news is, if it's not broken on my side I can't fix it ...
Oooh! Thanks for this i want to try this for my dolls. but maybe I should wrap them in a sticky wrap like saran wrap first. Will that be O.K. to do?
It will - but then you can scrap the paper towels and put the masking tape directly on the saran wrap.
I can see this as being very helpful for those odd sized dolls I've got hanging around here naked. Thank you for posting this. Very much appreciated.
Thank you for this tutorial! I used it to make a dress for one of my girls. I love how easy it was and I'm really happy with the result I got.
I can't wait to try this once my Minifee gets here. Thank you for the pictures, I'm a visual learner so they were very clear and concise.
Glad to help! Good to know the pics helped - I tend to focus on pics a lot when I'm on the receiving end of tutorials, too. Have fun and we'd love to see pics of your creations!
That was great to see! Some of the SCA folks I know do full size tape patterns when making armor for themselves!
I just found this! Thanks so much for posting such a great tutorial. I can grade patterns, but this looks like an easier method to have a basic bodice to refer to when sizing /grading other patterns too.
Thanks for sharing. I'll try using the paper towel! I've tried using saran wrap under the masking tape and it's too fiddly for me. Can't wait to try it your way.
