Wearables Making a Ballerina costume

Hi guys!
I’m working on a costume for my minifees.
It’s inspired by blue butterflies
and will hopefully look magical!


This is the first sketch I made for the costume. I was thinking of using a pattern by DG Requiem for the corset. But didn’t know how I’d turn it into a leotard. But then I found a ballerina pattern on Etsy!


I bought some tulle for the tutu that I thought looked nice with this satin I’ve had in my stash for years! So happy to be using it! I also picked out some bits and bobs to use as accents.


I decided to give this outfit a liner. I want the finished costume to look nice and clean!

Here is the leotard lining complete! I had to adjust the crotch piece and the back for it to close. But overall the pattern fits great on her


I changed my design of the bodice. I wanted to use the iridescent fabric in the center. And I’m thinking lace or ribbon to go along the sides of the center piece. Then add beads on top to really make it fancy! I also found that the shiny fabric doesn’t gather to my taste for this scale. So instead it being the top layer, I going to make into petals for fairy-like whimsy.

And lastly for now, with some lace. Still unsure what I will choose. I’m going to pin on other trims before committing.​

Here is a crazy picture of the liner and leotard lol
However I ended up scraping the lining. When I turned out my work it was too thick for her scale. It didn’t look right to me. After I put on beads, but I forgot to take a picture.

Next I added rhinestones, pearls, and a flower. I went with a butterfly inspired design. I think it looks very pretty! I think I want to add more beads along the top. I want this costume to be extravagant! Like it was made by elves or fairies.
Not sure how much I will able to get done today. My poor little baby is having a hard day. He needs his mama.​

 

Thank you! Thankfully, he’s doing a lot better today. Still A bit clingy though lol but I love baby snuggles. They won’t last forever!

I added petals to the top of the tutu out of the shiny material. I finished the edge with glue since it’s prone to fray. I could have used heat but that’s scary lol so glue it is.

Next I glued paper flowers to finish off the tutu. And to close I sewed on a snap. ​

I’m so happy with how it turned out! I have it modeled on my Sarang22 girl since my tan minifee doesn’t currently have a head lol. Really as part of the project, I need to dye a head to match the body. I’ll be using an event head, who is not gonna be here for a while lol but I’m toying with the idea of dyeing a different head to match. . . Decisions, decisions!​
