Esthetics Major shedding on handmade Wig

Jan 10, 2025

    1. So I’m doing a hard wig cap with fabric glue, but my wig is shedding like crazy
Like every time I brush it with a toothbrush I get a good chunk. The plugs are tight as I’ve gently pulled on them to see if they were weak, but they seem strong. The glue is Aileen’s Fabric Fusion and the plugs are super soft mohair.

      help!!

    2. That's actually normal. As you always will have loose fiber within the wefts. Unless you comb them out before applying and then remaking those fibers into new wefts, you will have 'shedding' and the volume will be less with the finished wig overall.

    3. Different types of fiber hold better or worse, too. So even if you do everything perfect, you could still have a high-shed wig. Every mohair I've worked with absolutely sheds, so you should be good once the loose fiber is out!

    4. It happens to some degree no matter how much glue you slather on.

A slicker brush like those for combing dogs and cats can usually get all the loose fibers out.

    5. Thank you guys, it made it me more confident to brush it more :celebrate
