Aesthetics Magical Boy Faceup~

    1. Hey guys! I haven't done a faceup in a long time, and I still have a lot to learn. I attempted to mimic some of my drawing style, which uses a lot of hatching around the eyes. I definitely need to work on some less clumsy brush strokes. I gotta figure out how to stop my hands from shaking, haha!! Anyway, here's Mika. He's a gokidoll mini kai.

      I definitely need to fix the tear ducts and make the eyebrows less clumpy. It was my first time using Pearl Ex Pigments and I loooove the shininess. Let me know how you think I can improve!!

    2. Love the idea that your trying to take your drawing style into the face up, I also always try it (also use allot of lines in my drawings haha) but it's always harder then it seems like. Especially if you haven't done a face up in a while, it's like you need to relearn the brush stroke feelings and such.
      Kudos for goig at it! Your boy still looks adorable ^^

    3. Nice! This is a great face up for this sculpt, I like what you've done. I really like the brush strokes. I especially love the style you've added, especially under the eyes. As you've asked for critiques, I wonder if the white would be more striking with some ever so slightly grey strokes added in to add some depth?

    4. A finer brush or sharper pencil might help reduce the "clumps" as you call them. That way you can layer up your lines rather than put them down in one go.

      I really do love the little highlights you've given him! The pink is nice as well, like he's a little windswept!

    5. Thanks so much!!! I know solid lines on a face can be really jarring but I wanted to at least give it a shot :D

    6. I think this sort of style really goes well with his sculpt!
      I personally would use even more pearlex heheh, I tend to coat pretty much my entire doll's faces in it.

    7. Seconding more pearlex! Blind me with shoujo shininess! I love the fine lines around his eyes and the texture on the lips. He looks very lively even without eyes in.

    8. Thank you so much all!!! I will definitely add more shininess! :D I was applying it a lot but I think the layers of MSC dulled it down. I gotta go back in and give him some sparkles~

    9. He seems so bright and enthusiastic!! I love the lines around the eyes and the eyelashes, gives him a cute, minimalistic short of look...! I'd love to see him completed with his eyes and wig~!
