Credit cards usually have some sort of protection against this sort of thing, and Paypal has ways of reporting people as well and getting your money back (though it can be a pain to go through the process). If you did do Paypal, their limit for dealing with stuff is 45 days so be sure to do it soon. Could be they're not legit, or could be it's a small company run by a couple people and something's keeping them from sending out orders/responding to calls and emails (like a medical emergency) but either way you need your money back and sounds like you've made sufficient effort and left them enough time to get back to you first.
